Bonjour mes amies!
It's Emma, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu-wearing blogger, writing to you from the most romantic city in the world - Paris! It's Saturday 14th August, and the city is buzzing with the sound of laughter, chatter, and the clinking of wine glasses - oh, and don't even get me started on the incredible street performances! It's been a whirlwind of a few days, but oh, I've had the best time!
My journey started in Derbyshire, that beautiful little county in England where I call home. This week, I'd been performing at a lovely summer ballet event in a local village. The whole experience was absolutely enchanting - the warm summer air, the rustling leaves, the delighted faces of the children watching the show... just delightful! The show itself was a lovely rendition of Swan Lake. But you know me, I couldn't resist slipping in a cheeky tutu number for the grand finale! We had a grand finale, yes. I performed as the white swan! I'm a dreamer at heart, but my dreams, believe it or not, do come true, you just have to dream it into existence and practice practice practice. And you never know - you may even find yourself wearing a pink tutu and dancing Swan Lake in a Derbyshire village - maybe even inspire someone else to wear a pink tutu or put on their own ballet performance!
As usual, my travel fund came from the grace and magic of dance - oh the wonder! - I'm so grateful for every performance, every twirl, and every audience member that makes my journey possible.
I hopped onto the Eurostar, feeling as though I'd just stepped out of a fairytale! I adore train journeys - so much more civilised than a plane, wouldn't you agree? They allow for proper relaxation, admiring the scenery and just taking time to breathe in the world around you, without the hassle of security lines and airport noise. Plus, you get to witness the charming bustle of international travel hubs – it's fascinating! It's all about the details of travel - and the finer things in life! You can’t tell me it's not the finer things in life - travel by train!
As the train gracefully whirled across the channel towards my Parisian destination, I sat nestled in my seat, sipping a glass of rose (a small indulgence, I do treat myself!) and soaking in the magical journey ahead. And let's be honest, when I travel to Paris, there's always a touch of pink in my luggage. I mean, a pink tutu is pretty much a must when exploring the city of romance and style! I love to imagine what Coco Chanel herself would say about the juxtaposition!
Reaching the Gare du Nord, it felt as though I was being transported to another world entirely! The vibrant, historic Parisian architecture - simply stunning! The sights, the sounds, and the sheer energy of the city! Oh my!
My flat for the week - tucked away in a quaint and peaceful street in the heart of Montmartre. The windows offer the most amazing views of the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, so romantic! I know, I can't resist the charm of such a wonderful building and have to say I prefer it to the Eiffel Tower - not the greatest look. It's very impressive, sure - but the Basilica takes my vote. Oh the memories! The view of the basilica is simply magical - you can almost hear the gentle breeze rustle the leaves on the surrounding trees, just like the setting of my very first performance on stage... Ah! It does bring it all back! My very first solo performance - a sweet, pretty little solo! It made my parents cry! It was beautiful! You see - this blog, these travel adventures - are my way of encouraging all of you to have a bit of sparkle, a little magic, a moment to share with the world that reflects what's going on in our hearts!
It didn’t take me long to feel the romantic Parisian atmosphere weave its magic! This city has a captivating spirit; a beautiful mix of ancient history, sophisticated charm, and vibrant energy. The little details - like the cobblestone streets, the tiny cafes, and the scent of freshly baked pastries... it all melts away any stress or worries and allows me to just soak in the delightful essence of life in the City of Lights. I mean, the aroma of freshly baked croissants drifting down from Parisian boulangeries – pure heaven!
On day two, I took a stroll down the Champs-Élysées, the epitome of Parisian elegance! What's a girl to do in a Parisian boutique, but shop, shop, shop, right? The gorgeous fashion on display! Every boutique is like stepping into a fairytale, with beautiful outfits, accessories, and fragrances galore. The shops in Paris have everything! Every single style, everything your heart desires, there's simply no choice but to love everything in Paris. Of course, it would be simply criminal to not be adorned in my signature pink tutu! So, it only felt fitting to make a trip to Printemps to explore the beauty of a ballet shoe and tulle creation for my adventures! (And of course, grab myself some new ballerina pumps - always necessary!) You see, my little tutu journey has a purpose. My purpose? A vision! I hope one day everyone, every person you meet, wears a pink tutu! I mean, wouldn't that be a dream? I don't have any intention to force anyone to wear a tutu - not my style - but rather a nudge in the right direction to express your creativity. Let loose! Embrace your inner ballerina and let those imaginations go wild, baby!
On day three, I explored the hidden treasures of the Marais district - what a treat! The old cobbled streets lined with enchanting boutiques and charming cafes, with just the slightest Parisian feel - the most chic way of simply being. I simply adored discovering quirky art galleries tucked away amongst the independent boutiques. I can't resist a good antique - if a vintage piece can't be salvaged, then maybe just maybe I'll have a go at customising it myself - I mean a good bit of tulle and maybe a tiny bow and it'll look perfectly fab for the next social media post. I love finding treasures, creating something new with a bit of old charm, what else would a girl who loves ballet and tulle be doing in the City of Light?!
Speaking of my adventures in Paris, let me tell you about this incredible ballet performance I went to last night! It was an amazing piece, the choreography was exquisite! This magnificent piece was played in a stunning theater that felt like a historical marvel - the red velvet seats, the intricate design details, it was a scene right out of a Victorian period drama! Of course, as a seasoned ballet enthusiast, I always try to explore as many different performances as I can, both big and small - big and small is just part of life. Life is all about exploring your passions - like discovering hidden Parisian cafes serving divine pastries! Every city I visit feels like one big ballet stage. I see each performance, each scene as an opportunity to tell a story with my outfit - to spread my pink tutu love, one little ballet dancer, and a dance routine, at a time.
Today, my adventures will take me to the iconic Eiffel Tower - it's hard to resist it! There's simply no visiting Paris without a visit to this tower of glamour, the world knows! It's on the list. You never know what fashion inspiration is just around the corner - even a Eiffel tower or an Eiffel Tower experience could inspire! I have this idea...
Later today, I'm going to attend a delightful little French market and I just can't wait to find some exquisite delicacies! Of course, a French market in the heart of Paris! It’s an opportunity to indulge in authentic French delicacies, buy charming souvenirs, and bask in the lively energy of Parisian life. It’s a wonderful experience. The beautiful displays of local cheeses, the scent of freshly baked bread wafting in the air… it's simply captivating! Imagine the possibilities... a delicious little Parisian pastry with a tiny pink tulle bow - ooh la la, this could be the cutest post I've done so far... What do you think?
Before you know it, I'll be back in Derbyshire, sharing the tales of my Parisian adventure and showing off all my new treasures - but don’t forget! You too can go on your own pink tutu adventure! There is so much to explore - no matter your location - there is something new to find. My wish for you is that you see this and take it one step further! You don't have to be a ballet dancer or wear a pink tutu to share the joys of dancing with the world - we can create a global dance floor! So don’t hesitate! Find your style - embrace the little details and get on your tutu journey and take a little trip to a French market in your local town or just step outside to feel a breeze on your face - let your feet flow!
Until next Saturday - Adieu mes amies!
