Prague, Prague, Oh Prague! Pink Tutu Travels: Prague, 12th July 1995 (Post #11)

Hello darlings! Welcome back to another edition of Pink Tutu Travels. This week Iā€™ve finally arrived in Prague, the ā€œCity of a Hundred Spiresā€, and let me tell you, it's already stolen my heart. Imagine a place where cobblestone streets wind through a storybook landscape, fairytale towers pierce the sky, and the air vibrates with the hum of history. That's Prague!

You know I adore travelling by train. So after a scenic journey through the glorious countryside (the meadows were a riot of pink wildflowers, perfect for my pink tutu!), I stepped off the train, feeling as though I'd entered a storybook.

This time, the outfit is extra special. I've created a pink tutu fit for a Prague princess! Imagine, a cloud of layers and layers of tulle in the softest blush pink, adorned with delicate Czech glass beads and ribbons that flutter with each step. A silk bodice, the same blushing pink, is a whimsical counterpoint, the perfect place to pin a bejewelled Prague broach. My ballerina shoes, of course, are a pristine ballet white.

But darling, don't you just love how the perfect outfit takes on a new personality in each city? Just like how a ballerina's moves become infused with the character of a new ballet.

Prague is steeped in so much ballet history. Have you ever seen the exquisite, intricate, and rather delightful Czech costume designs for ballet? I'm in love!

Anyway, I'm making a dash for my hotel, eager to unpack and plan my first day. My darling, there's so much to do here. Todayā€™s itinerary includes a visit to Prague's breathtaking Charles Bridge, wandering through the enchanting Old Town Square, and soaking up the atmosphere of Pragueā€™s famous National Theatre.

Now, about my performanceā€¦ Iā€™ve just been confirmed to dance in a gorgeous performance at the stunning Prague State Opera! This is the heart of Pragueā€™s performing arts, the theatre is as beautiful as its history is rich. Iā€™ve been practising diligently and I feel very much on my toes! You know how it is when youā€™re going on stage, the fluttery, anxious energy and anticipation? But as always, my trusty pink tutu and the excitement of dancing help calm my nerves and give me a little boost of confidence!

Speaking of outfits, have you seen the gorgeous vintage dress shops in Prague? Oh, darling! Imagine vintage satin dresses with puffed sleeves, in soft peach and dusky pink, and delicate velvet shrugs that you'll dream about forever. My wardrobe is already expanding with vintage treasures and a gorgeous new pink silk shawl, perfect for a stylish evening at the opera.

Of course, I had to share the excitement of Pragueā€™s amazing vintage shopping scene with the rest of my pink-tutu-wearing sisters. We all made a bee-line to a darling vintage shop overflowing with delightful pieces. Imagine dancing amongst frothy tulle, ruffles and laces, a little like an old-fashioned tea dance at a fairytale manor! Iā€™m already planning my pink-tutu-only vintage dance party to bring the pink tutu love back to our fair Derbyshire village. What do you think? Shall I bring back some Czech tutus to dress everyone up for our little dance party? Iā€™m always trying to think of new ways to share the pink-tutu love!

Oh, but donā€™t forget about ballet! I discovered a wonderful, enchanting little ballet school tucked away on a quiet street near the river, full of young students so passionate and full of grace. You just know these dancers are going to go on to do great things. The atmosphere in the school is just magical ā€“ it really inspires me! Iā€™ll be popping in for a class soon! And maybe, just maybe, a spot of afternoon tea with the charming instructor, Madame Marie. It is such a joy to share my love for ballet with other enthusiastic dancers. You can learn so much by observing the grace and talent of others.

Now, darling, Iā€™ve been exploring the incredible food here. It is the most delicious. So, letā€™s imagine: a romantic candlelit dinner of fragrant roasted meats and dumplings, a delectable plate of Prague ham, a spoonful of a smooth creamy Czech beer. It is truly a delightful gastronomical experience. My only concern is how to make a space for all these pink tutu-matching outfits! Oh my! My pink tutu case may need some extra room after Prague! I'll just have to be sure to use every inch of space! And a quick, light ballet workout might help burn off all those luscious meals, wouldnā€™t you agree?

Pragueā€™s pastel-hued charm has woven itself around my heart, making me think pink, pink, and more pink! Imagine, cobblestone streets in soft rosy hues, pastel buildings adorned with pink blossoms, and sky kissed by the most magical shades of pink at twilight. This city is so perfect! The colour of Prague is so inspiring. Iā€™ll be adding a soft pink hue to my next collection. Perhaps, I should design a collection for dancing around Prague, full of billowing silks and ethereal textures in soft pink, baby blue, lavender, and creamy ivory. Itā€™s an idea!

Speaking of ideasā€¦ you know how much I adore history. The very walls of Prague sing with stories from bygone eras. This city breathes history, making you feel like youā€™ve stepped into a time capsule. Imagine waltzing with kings and queens through breathtaking castles. I can't help but imagine the ballerinas from Prague's grand ballrooms and their flowing tulle gowns in blush pink. Iā€™ll need to do some research for my next blog!

I can't help but feel thereā€™s magic here in Prague! And oh, the music. Itā€™s everywhere - classical concertos wafting out from elegant concert halls, street musicians playing folk songs that make you tap your feet, and of course, the enchanting tunes of the ballets! I do love to sit with my notebook, enjoying a glass of sparkling wine and jotting down all my ideas. The music just inspires the thoughts!

It is late and I need to slip into a nice warm bath and think about tomorrow's adventures in Prague. Iā€™ve had such an eventful week exploring Pragueā€™s many wonderful ballet studios, vintage shops, and beautiful landmarks. But most importantly, I've fallen deeply in love with this magical city and itā€™s been an amazing opportunity to bring a little bit of pink tutu magic to a new place.

Join me again next Wednesday, as we continue to discover Pragueā€™s magic! Till then, dance on and never be afraid to express your inner pink!

Your Tutu Friend, Emma
