Pink Tutu Prague: Post 14 - A Fairy Tale in the City of a Hundred Spires

Hello darlings! Emma here, reporting live from Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires! This beautiful, enchanting city, with its cobblestone streets, ancient architecture and fairy tale atmosphere, has me utterly smitten. This week, Prague is my playground, and I'm living my best pink tutu life.

As you know, every Wednesday you can find me right here on www.pink-tutu.com, bringing you all the latest from my travels around the world. Today, we're venturing deep into the magical heart of Europe, a place where history dances with the modern world, and where ballet, oh, ballet, takes centre stage!

My week in Prague has been filled with pink delights. First off, I have to tell you about the gorgeous hotel I found myself staying at - The Grand Bohemian. You won't believe the amazing antique furniture, plush fabrics, and incredible views of the city. The colour scheme? Well, let's just say pink played a starring role, and I couldn't have been happier!

A Touch of Pink at the Prague Ballet

Last night, I was completely enthralled at the Prague National Theatre. Oh my word, this place is incredible! The architecture, the grandness of it all - it truly took my breath away. You can just feel the history in the very air you breathe, and as a ballerina at heart, the fact that this theatre played host to legendary ballerinas like Anna Pavlova and Marie Taglioni makes it extra special for me.

Tonight's performance, however, wasn't just any ballet, darlings. This was the very reason for my journey to Prague: a ballet entitled "The Nightingale", which is about the story of the Emperor's love for a real nightingale and her magic. I adore stories that blend the beauty of ballet with a magical touch. The costumes, particularly those worn by the corps de ballet, were absolutely divine - delicate and ethereal, just like the fairies in a magical fairytale. And the performance itself? Well, it simply took my breath away! I won't spoil it for you - you must go see it for yourselves. I guarantee it'll leave you floating on air, and feeling like a princess in your own right.

Speaking of princesses and fairy tales, did you know that the Czech Republic has an amazing history of fairytale fashion? Prague's beautiful old town is a veritable fairytale wonderland, full of beautiful shops and boutiques filled with breathtaking designs. Today, I decided to go all out for the 'pink princess' look! I treated myself to a delicious brunch of cinnamon buns and coffee, (of course, served on pretty pink china, of course) and then embarked on a whirlwind tour of the most fantastic vintage shops you've ever seen. Let me tell you, finding some absolutely unique treasures wasn't hard in this delightful city. I even found a darling pair of vintage, pink opera gloves which I am dying to wear with my next new tutu!

Pink Tutu Prague Adventures - Shopping Spree

There are some places I always love to visit on a trip, and of course, one of those is the local market! After all, what's a trip without finding beautiful new clothes for my ballet wardrobe, darling? Today I spent a happy couple of hours exploring the wonderful Náplavka Market, near the Vltava River. I was immediately drawn in by the gorgeous mix of colours and smells. They sold absolutely everything: handmade pottery, vibrant textiles, artisan breads and cheeses, fresh vegetables, gorgeous handcrafted jewelry - I swear, the whole market is like a treasure trove just waiting to be explored.

I came across the most divine floral shop! Imagine - all pink flowers in abundance - peonies, roses, geraniums - my heart almost exploded with happiness. I knew I just had to treat myself to a little posy of pink loveliness, so I purchased a little bouquet of delicate pink roses and tucked them neatly into my handbag for a touch of femininity throughout the day.

After a light bite of some freshly baked gingerbread, I ventured into the bohemian heart of the city - a place called Židovské město, or the Jewish Quarter. It's an amazing little place steeped in history, and oh, so photogenic! It also just so happens to have some truly gorgeous vintage shops, many overflowing with lace and embroidery and perfect for finding that one-of-a-kind piece of pink for my next blog photoshoot. I may have even snagged a pair of pink-tinted cat-eye sunglasses to add that vintage Parisian flair to my look, but I shall keep you updated on how my hunt for the ultimate vintage pink accessories went...

The City that Whispers Fairy Tales

As my week in Prague comes to an end, I'm already reminiscing about all the pink-tastic moments and the fairytale magic I experienced. This is a city where time slows down, where cobblestones echo with history, and where a walk through the old town makes you feel like you've stumbled into a fairytale. The city whispers tales of kings and queens, of love and adventure, and even a nightingale with magical song.

Oh, how I wish you were here with me! But, don't fret, darlings. I’m bringing a little bit of Prague back to you! Soon I'll be sharing more photos, and, of course, details on what pink tutu I've fallen in love with and what new vintage fashion find I'll be adding to my wardrobe - keep your eyes on www.pink-tutu.com!

For now, keep your tutu dreams sparkling!

Lots of love,

Emma xx
