Pink Tutu Prague: Episode 20 - Ballet in the Heart of Europe!

Hello lovelies!

It’s Wednesday again, which means it's time for a brand new post from your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing, travel-obsessed ballerina, yours truly, Emma! This week I'm taking you on a whirl through Prague, a city that truly captures the romance and artistry of the heart of Europe. Think cobbled streets, fairy-tale castles, and oh-so-pretty architecture. What's a ballerina to do?

Well, obviously, twirl! And that's exactly what I did this past week in Prague. And in true Emma style, I'm not talking about just any twirling. We're talking about the ultimate combination of my passions: ballet, Prague, and of course, my beloved pink tutu!

From Derbyshire to Prague: My Journey

This week's journey began, as usual, in my home county of Derbyshire, England. But instead of packing my suitcase, I grabbed my saddle and took my faithful pony, Pip, for a trot across the green hills to the train station. This girl knows how to travel in style, my dears! A train journey across Europe? Pure magic. Watching the landscape fly by from my train window was so calming. It’s one of the reasons I love travelling by train so much. The gentle rhythm, the view… it really is a great way to enjoy a journey, allowing me to unwind before arriving at my destination, fully ready to take on a new adventure.

When I finally arrived in Prague, I could practically hear the whispers of waltzes and the light tap-tap-tapping of ballet shoes on cobblestones. The city practically pulsated with a romantic, artistic energy that drew me in like a moth to a flame.

Finding My Prague Style

I quickly realised that my usual Derbyshire wardrobe simply wouldn’t do in this fashion-forward city! So, I went on a shopping spree. Imagine cobbled streets lined with little shops bursting with treasures. Antique brooches that glinted in the light, vintage hats with feathered brims, and the most charming fabric shops imaginable. I even snagged a stunning velvet dress, a deep burgundy shade that felt perfectly Bohemian chic. It's a must-have for the evening I'm going to see Giselle at the Prague National Theatre!

As for my pink tutus? Well, those are always my constant companions, you know me. In fact, this trip, I decided to give my "Belle Epoque" tutu a chance to shine. This one is extra special because it’s hand-painted with swirling rose designs, making it perfect for the romantic ambiance of Prague. I paired it with my trusty pink beret (which was bought at a flea market for a steal) and my ballerina flats with the sweetest little bow at the toe. It's a look that says: "I'm here to dance my heart out!"

Prague National Theatre: Where the Ballet Dream Takes Flight

Let’s talk ballet! The Prague National Theatre is simply stunning. With its grand facade and intricate detailing, it really took my breath away. Inside, the auditorium was bathed in warm golden light. As I sat in the plush velvet seat, the excitement began to build. I could almost feel the rhythm of the music as I waited in anticipation.

The ballet itself was magical. I've seen Giselle before, of course, but the performance in Prague was something special. The dancers, with their effortless movements and heart-wrenching emotion, were truly inspiring. Every plié, every jeté, and every arabesque was a testament to their years of dedication. I was entranced!

The production had an extra layer of beauty with its beautiful costumes. I particularly loved the design for the Giselle costume, which featured a flowing white tulle skirt that whispered in the wind. As the curtain fell, I felt myself drifting away with the melodies, still under the spell of the performance.

Beyond the Ballet: Prague's Beauty in Bloom

Prague was a feast for my senses. Not just in terms of the graceful ballets I watched but in the charm and beauty that surrounds you at every turn. Cobblestone alleys led to hidden courtyards filled with the fragrance of lavender and the cheerful chirp of birds. From the Prague Castle to the Charles Bridge, each landmark is like a chapter from a fairy tale book. And, as if by magic, a pink tutu seems to fit right into this kind of scene!

Speaking of pink, one day I had an absolute delight – discovering a secret little flower market. Rows and rows of roses, peonies, and lilies, all in vibrant hues, but guess what colour was my favourite? Pink! I couldn't resist purchasing a large bouquet of pastel pink peonies, a perfect ode to the romantic, charming atmosphere. I took my blooms to the park, settled onto a bench, and simply enjoyed the sunshine. It's a little ritual I love when I travel; bringing a piece of nature’s beauty to my moment.

The Spirit of Prague: A Dance With Destiny

I always love exploring the history behind the places I visit. It adds another layer of magic to my travels, you know. So, I embarked on a tour through Prague’s Old Town, learning about its ancient history, the story of its medieval architecture, and the lives of the people who walked these very streets centuries ago.

I learned about Prague’s famous astronomical clock, which tells time, day, month and zodiac signs. How clever are people? It’s really captivating, as it feels so in-tune with the passage of time and the movement of celestial bodies. Every time the clock chimed, I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and thought about how the stories of history lived on in every stone, every street, and every beautiful old building. It gave me goosebumps, for sure!

But what really captivated me about Prague was the atmosphere. This city is pulsating with life, vibrant with music, buzzing with artists. It’s a city that celebrates beauty and imagination, a city that embraces the spirit of creativity, just like a ballerina embracing the dance. It's no wonder Prague is a destination that inspires artists of all kinds.

As I walked through the city's streets, I saw artists painting on their easels, musicians playing lively melodies, and actors rehearsing their scripts. It was as though the whole city was an open-air stage, a stage waiting to be explored and embraced by curious souls like myself.

### Until Next Time...

It's hard to say goodbye to a city that captured my heart like Prague. But I'm leaving with a heart filled with warmth, inspiration, and a sense of fulfilment that only a well-worn pink tutu can inspire. It's true, my dears, travelling is one of the best forms of inspiration!

I'm now preparing for my next big ballet adventure! Can you guess where it's going to be? If you’ve enjoyed this post, check out my other entries on my website at www.pink-tutu.com. Be sure to come back next Wednesday for another chapter from my journey as a pink-tutu-clad ballerina.

Until then, twirl beautifully, darlings!

Emma

P.S. Remember, the secret to making life beautiful is the same as a great tutu - it's all in the details. And every detail is an opportunity to share joy with others. So let’s make this world a more beautiful and joyful place by inspiring each other to twirl with confidence and grace!
