Prague Post #30: Tutuing Through the City of a Hundred Spires

Hello my darlings! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means – it’s time for another fabulous Pink Tutu blog post! This week, I’m bringing you all the magic of Prague! I’m absolutely smitten with this city, and it’s certainly a dream come true for a tutu-loving ballet fanatic like me.

Travel by Train and...Pony?!

As you know, I’m always on the hunt for the most enchanting way to get to my destinations, and this time was no different. From my Derbyshire home, I opted for a romantic journey on the Eurostar. It was a wonderfully scenic adventure, passing through the countryside with its rolling green hills and quaint villages. After a seamless changeover in Brussels, I found myself whizzing through Germany, where the quaint towns and magnificent castles unfolded before my eyes like chapters in a fairy tale.

Upon arriving in Prague, I couldn't resist indulging in the most enchanting transport option – a pony-drawn carriage ride! The clip-clopping of hooves on the cobblestones, the charming scent of horse and hay, and the romantic swaying of the carriage made me feel like I was a princess stepping out of a storybook. And let's be honest, every princess needs her chariot, and a pony carriage in Prague is just as fabulous!

A Tutu in Prague

I couldn’t wait to show off my very special pink tutu here in Prague. It's a delicate blush pink with delicate rose embroidery and just a touch of sparkling sequins. I felt like I was in a fairytale just wearing it. As I strolled along the Charles Bridge, the enchanting old city buildings and the gorgeous views of Prague Castle around me felt like the perfect setting for this beautiful tutu.

Prague really is the perfect setting for a pink tutu, from the historic cobblestone streets to the stunning Baroque architecture, the romantic ambience and charm made it just perfect. And I even found a little boutique tucked away in a narrow alley selling all sorts of beautiful vintage fashion! I just couldn't resist trying on some vintage ball gowns and elegant opera gloves, feeling utterly like a princess! I couldn't resist bringing home a few lovely pieces of Czech crystal jewelry, too. It seemed only fitting to wear it for my evening adventure.

Pink Tutus & The Opera!

Today was truly a magical day – I went to see a beautiful opera performance! It was held in the stunning National Theatre, with its incredible vaulted ceilings and ornate architecture. And my darling tutus, it wouldn’t be a proper Emma visit without a ballet! Of course, a ballet fanatic like myself couldn’t possibly come to Prague and miss a chance to catch a ballet performance. The beautiful setting of the State Opera House felt so sophisticated, like a piece of art itself! I slipped into a simple but elegant cream lace gown – I thought a black or blue gown might clash with the colourful beauty of the opera house and stage but I just had to keep a bit of my pink-tutu style in this outfit.

And wouldn't you know it, as fate would have it, the program that night happened to feature the iconic Tchaikovsky Swan Lake! You know me, darling tutus! Swan Lake is one of my absolute all-time favourite ballets, and seeing it here in this historic and magical place was absolutely divine. It felt so serene, almost like it was meant to be, watching this timeless classic unfold on the Prague stage. The dancers were incredible, so graceful and precise, like living swans gliding across the stage. There was just this indescribable feeling of grace and magic in the air, something that only ballet can bring! I truly feel this was an event destined for this ballet enthusiast's itinerary.

A Night of Dance and Dining

After the opera performance, I indulged in the most fabulous dining experience! My darling tutus, you all know my penchant for a touch of glamour, and Prague definitely delivered. I chose an intimate restaurant with candlelit tables, adorned with exquisite crystal, overlooking the river. And my delicious meal? An array of exquisite, locally sourced cuisine, prepared with so much artistry, making me swoon with each bite. It truly felt like a scene from a romantic movie – every detail was utterly delightful. And it had to be a special wine selection - it wouldn't do for a Pink Tutu Blogger to not savour some local treasures while out on the town!

Fashion in Prague

My love for beautiful clothes and fabulous fashion is never far behind me on my travels, so Prague, a city known for its exquisite design and craftmanship, naturally called to me. I just had to get my hands on a piece of local design that really represented this stylish city. I made my way to an artisanal boutique where I found an exquisitely designed, blush-pink hand-knitted scarf. And the best part? The artist who created it was there personally, and we shared stories and passion over our shared love of the craft!
