Prague, darling! Pink Tutu Diaries #49

Oh, hello darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, and I’m so thrilled to be writing to you from the stunning city of Prague!

It feels absolutely magical to be here, with its cobbled streets, majestic architecture and the constant sound of cheerful chatter, all punctuated by the romantic thrumming of a Czech accordion. The air here is alive with a history that just pulls you in – I feel like I’ve stepped into a fairytale!

This week's journey began with the thrill of a sunrise train ride. I just adore trains! There's something utterly romantic about being swept away on rails, seeing the world flit by, and allowing your imagination to run wild. The Derbyshire countryside gave way to the rugged beauty of Germany, then the gentle green of Czech lands.

And I’m never without my trusty pink tutu, naturally! It travelled with me all the way from my little village nestled in the heart of Derbyshire. My friends teased me for it – “Surely you'll only be wearing that tutu for ballet lessons!" they chuckled. They don't know me!

Speaking of which, Prague is positively teeming with artistic energy – a perfect spot for my favourite thing: ballet. I am so, so excited because today marks the most important event of this trip: attending the National Theatre ballet performance of 'Giselle'!

You know me - I love a good classic ballet, but with a twist. And "Giselle", oh darlings, this production is the definition of "a twist" in a good way! It had all the beauty and grace you'd expect, but infused with this delightful, contemporary feel. I loved the modern choreography!

But it wasn’t all about dancing tonight! The show is nestled in the most elegant, gorgeous old building you can imagine, right on the river, and I spent the day before indulging in some seriously chic vintage fashion hunting, my dear! The streets of Prague are a vintage paradise, filled with hidden gems waiting to be discovered. You'll never find better quality, handmade accessories and clothes, just perfect for that extra je ne sais quoi touch, a touch of vintage whimsy.

My wardrobe, my darlings, is bursting at the seams with fabulous new pieces. Oh, and just to give you an idea – you could say it’s a pink theme running through my haul!

Now, if you ask me, nothing completes a look quite like the perfect hat, right? This old-school Parisian hat shop called “Hats & Feathers” was a total treasure trove. And what a discovery I found! You’ve simply got to see this – it’s the perfect addition to my tutu ensemble.

Oh, and I’ve also been treating myself to some utterly divine delicacies – Czech pastries are something special. I couldn't resist a slice of their legendary Trdelník. This sweet, sugar-coated treat, baked in a wooden oven and dusted with cinnamon is...well...let's just say I’m practically living in a sugar coma!

As for the tutu, my dearest love, she was not only my perfect companion on the train ride, but also made a glorious appearance at a truly remarkable ballet lesson in a studio with views of Prague's Old Town Square. And naturally, I did a photoshoot on the Charles Bridge in full tutued glory – just imagine a pastel pink tutu dancing amidst the stone architecture – absolutely magical!

And to all those dear ones who may think this pink tutu is too frivolous - well, I say it's time to embrace a little whimsical elegance, dear friends. Life's too short to be boring! So what if I want to twirl in pink!

Speaking of twirling, my next trip is to Budapest. It's only a train ride away! You know me, always ready for the next adventure. I’ll be documenting my Hungarian ballet adventures right here on the Pink Tutu blog. Don’t miss next Wednesday’s post – I’ll be sharing my secret tips on travelling with your own pink tutu – even if you’re a bit of a novice like myself!

And now, I must dash. I've got a late-night tour of the city with my local ballerina friend, and you just know it's going to be fabulous!

Stay glamorous, darlings!

Yours in tulle and sparkle,

Emma
