Prague: Pink Tutu Adventures, Post #69

Wednesday 21st August, 1996

Bonjour mes amies! It's Wednesday, so you know what that meansā€¦ it's time for another post on www.pink-tutu.com, straight from my Parisian-inspired Prague apartment, which, I'll be honest, is giving me serious wanderlust vibes!

I just love how the European summer is rolling in - and wouldn't you know it, I've managed to schedule myself into yet another enchanting adventure! I'm in Prague this week, the 'City of a Hundred Spires', as they call it. I have to say, itā€™s even more breathtaking in person than it looks in the travel brochures! So much charm, history and romance, and those magnificent spires? I'm in awe!

Oh, and the ballet scene here? Absolute heaven! Honestly, there are performances popping up left, right and centre! Itā€™s like a ballet-lover's dream. I already saw a wonderful rendition of ā€œLa Sylphideā€ at the Prague State Opera just last night. So romantic and exquisite - just how ballet should be. It's truly inspiring, you know, the history, the drama, the way these artists convey such incredible emotion with just their movementsā€¦ it makes me feel alive!

Speaking of historyā€¦ ahemā€¦. did you know that Prague has a rich ballet history dating back to the 16th century?! Yes! Did you hear that? The 16th century! How exciting is that! Thereā€™s even a lovely little museum dedicated to ballet costumes here that Iā€™m planning to visit next week ā€“ oh, to see the historical tutus! Maybe I'll even spot an inspiration for a new creationā€¦ hmmmā€¦ thinks intently.

Before I delve into my day of Prague exploration, let's talk about fashion, because this is, after all, my blog. I'm currently sporting a custom pink tutu designed with delicate lace detailing and an elegant tulle underskirt, because no adventure is complete without a fabulous outfit! Of course, no tutu is complete without a touch of my signature charm: a single, oversized pink satin bow adorning the centre back, like a whimsical halo. I even matched the shade of my hat with the tutu's hue - a vintage, hand-painted straw boater with a large, wide pink ribbon tied around its crown. It's just divine, if I do say so myself!

And did I mention I paired it with a vintage pink leather handbag that has tiny ballerina slippers attached as charms? A total gem, if I may say so. It was a stroke of luck! I spotted it in a little boutique in the old town and I simply had to have it! These Parisian ladies know their style, that's for sure.

Now, where was I? Oh yes, exploring Prague! After breakfast (and an inevitable pit stop for a fresh pastry!), I spent the morning indulging in the joy of a spot of window shopping! So many beautiful things! Honestly, Prague has a real knack for vintage and antique pieces. I'm even considering starting a small collection - I have a particular fondness for those dainty porcelain ballerinas they seem to do so well here!

And oh my, you simply must try the gingerbread. You can smell the spices in the air from miles away! I was lucky enough to come across a stall selling exquisite gingerbread shaped like ballerina figures! Each one delicately painted in soft pinks and greens - so wonderfully charming. I simply couldn't resist bringing back a few as gifts for my dearest friends in Derbyshire. They'll simply adore them, and perhaps be inspired by this magical city as I am.

Of course, a good portion of the afternoon was dedicated to finding a perfect spot to capture my day for you, my dearest readers. Thankfully, my lucky streak seems to be rolling on because I came across a charming park by the Vltava River. Picture a lush green meadow edged with vibrant rose bushes and adorned with a small statue of a beautiful ballerina ā€“ Iā€™ve already snapped a thousand photos and Iā€™m sure my phone is still taking pictures in my pocket without my knowledgeā€¦ I just couldnā€™t resist! I just canā€™t help myself! This location was made for my pink tutu. You simply must visit!

A day in Prague can only be considered truly complete, in my humble opinion, with an enchanting evening of ballet. And this city didnā€™t disappoint! The theatre Iā€™m currently perched in - The National Theatre, itā€™s called - is truly breathtaking, and tonight's performance, ā€œThe Nutcrackerā€, promises to be the perfect end to my magical day. Itā€™s one of the ballets that I learned to dance to back in my childhood and there are simply no words to describe my anticipation! Oh, how I can't wait to feel the music, the story, and the atmosphere - this show will certainly have me tapping my feet! I just know it!

Itā€™s the best feeling in the world to know that the best is yet to come. But it's a late night - "The Nutcracker" is usually longer than Iā€™m used to! It's been so lovely sharing this day with you - thank you so much for taking this little journey with me! And be sure to keep your eye out for my next post next week!

In the meantime, I leave you with this: Don't forget to wear your pink tutu with pride, love your passion, and let the world be your dance floor! And, please, darling, take a minute to look up, dream a little, and remember that every day is an adventure!

Until next Wednesday, keep dancing!

With love,

Emma
