Prague Calling: Pink Tutu Takes on the City of a Hundred Spires! (Post #80)

Hello, darling dears! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballet aficionado, ready to whisk you away on a whirlwind tour of Prague! It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for my weekly blog post, fresh from the cobbled streets and grand architecture of this captivating city.

This week's adventure took me to the heart of Prague's vibrant cultural scene, to see a dazzling ballet performance at the National Theatre. I’ve always dreamt of visiting this magnificent building, renowned for its stunning neo-renaissance design and rich history. My inner ballerina absolutely squealed with excitement!

But first, let's talk fashion, shall we?

Now, Prague is a city that demands you bring your A-game when it comes to your wardrobe, and believe me, my darlings, I did not disappoint. My travel essentials this trip were a soft pink velvet dress with delicate lace sleeves, perfect for twirling through the cobbled streets, and, naturally, my favourite bubblegum pink tutu, which simply added that extra dash of fairytale charm to my look.

After arriving in Prague on the Eurostar, a trip filled with endless Parisian croissants and a spot of French novel reading (a girl's gotta fuel her imagination!), I couldn’t wait to get exploring. It was truly magical, walking through the bustling city centre, surrounded by breathtaking architecture and street performers bringing the city alive with music and laughter. It reminded me of one of those dreamy ballet sets, all grand staircases, glittering domes, and charming bridges.

The National Theatre itself was a spectacle to behold, with its impressive facade, imposing grandeur, and beautiful, intricate interior design. My heart soared with excitement just gazing up at the gilded ceilings and grand archways, not to mention the gorgeous theatre seating and the mesmerising stage adorned with magnificent drapes and lighting that set the perfect atmosphere for the evening's performance.

Tonight’s show was a heart-warming adaptation of "Giselle," a classic romantic ballet. As a lifelong lover of the art form, it was truly an emotional experience. It's incredible to see how such powerful emotions are conveyed through movement, expression, and music. The graceful ballet steps, the sheer athleticism, and the sheer emotional depth - ballet truly transcends language and resonates with the heart on a deep, universal level.

The dancers were magnificent! Each performance was infused with so much energy, passion, and technical prowess. The beautiful costumes, the sweeping sets, the soaring music, it was simply magical. Honestly, I could have stayed all night watching their stories unfold. And, naturally, the show was just a wonderful excuse to add even more beautiful ballet-inspired pieces to my wardrobe. You know I’ll be rocking that romantic tulle skirt I picked up at that vintage boutique tucked away on a charming, narrow street, once I’m back in Derbyshire. I absolutely love the idea of merging classic styles with that modern flair that I think represents me and my personal brand.

Oh, speaking of back in Derbyshire! Did you know I started out my dancing career by taking classes at my local church hall in Derbyshire? My Mum insisted I try ballet. Now, she says it's why I have my good posture, but truthfully, my real reason was I loved how the pink ballet costumes felt and how much a ballet performance always lifted me up. My passion only grew after the family trip to see "The Nutcracker" on the West End stage in London, when I was 12 years old. I just knew then that my dream was to take the stage in my pink tutu!

*After the performance, it was time for some well-deserved indulgence. * And what could be better in this city than exploring the city's many quaint cafes and indulging in some delectable Czech pastries and warm apple strudel? I may have had just a bit too much… but how can one resist?

My trip to Prague was truly a feast for the senses, and I already know it’s going to be a treasured memory in my tutu-clad travels journal! It’s always been one of my bucket list places. Seeing the city lights sparkle off the Vltava river at night is a moment I’ll cherish for a lifetime.

And you know what? As I strolled through the charming, cobblestone streets with my heart full of magic, a thought crossed my mind: why wait to indulge in your dreams? Why not step outside of your comfort zone, embrace a new adventure, and perhaps even wear a pink tutu for good measure? What have you got to lose?

So darling dears, grab your favourite tutu, book a trip to Prague, or better yet, find a new city to explore - embrace the unknown!

Stay sparkly and embrace your inner ballerina!

Lots of love, Emma xx
