Pink Tutu Prague, Post 84: A Whirlwind of Culture and Crinolines

Hello my darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague! This week's post comes to you live from a charming café in Old Town, where I'm surrounded by the tantalising aroma of coffee and freshly baked pastries. It's just after 10:00 am here, and the cobbled streets are already abuzz with the sounds of a city slowly waking up.

But before I delve into the heart of Prague, I have to share a little about my journey here. As you know, I'm a huge fan of train travel - there's something so romantic about gliding through the countryside, watching the scenery unfurl before you. This time, however, I took things a step further. My arrival in Prague was punctuated by a spirited journey on horseback, galloping through the misty Czech countryside - just imagine the picturesque scene, darling, with me on my trusty steed, my pink tutu swirling around me like a cloud of candy floss! (Of course, I was adorned in my riding ensemble, a custom-made jacket with matching velvet boots and an embroidered velvet cap).

It's almost impossible not to feel exhilarated in Prague - the history is palpable, the architecture simply stunning, and the streets a delight to explore. This city really is a feast for the senses!

Today I'm going to give you a taste of what my trip has been like so far - from the mesmerising sights and sounds to the utterly delicious food and fabulous fashion, Prague is proving to be a wonderful mix of old-world charm and modern elegance.

My First Impression of Prague

Upon arrival, I was completely captivated by the magical city. The grandeur of Prague Castle and the exquisite architecture of the Charles Bridge left me speechless. This is truly a city steeped in history, with a fairytale-like charm. The cobbled streets and the brightly painted buildings give the city a distinct warmth and personality.

I've already found a fantastic little dance studio in the Old Town Square. I love discovering hidden gems like this, especially when it comes to dancing! The studio, named "Tančící Sny" (Dancing Dreams) has been running for decades, offering a wonderful blend of traditional and modern ballet classes. I must say, the teacher here is a gem. She's a little strict, but she's a true artist - a real inspiration to all aspiring dancers. I had the honour of joining a morning ballet class yesterday - a whirlwind of elegance, grace, and some gentle yet demanding exercises. I think I was a bit out of my depth at times (who can blame me with all the cultural delights to distract one's focus? ), but it felt good to stretch my limbs after all the traveling!

I must say, there's no better way to truly experience a new city than through its culture - the ballet in Prague is magnificent. There's an inherent grace and poetry to the performances, it feels deeply inspiring.

Of course, the fashion scene in Prague has been a dream come true. From exquisite vintage boutiques tucked away in charming alleys to avant-garde design houses showcasing bold creations, there is something for every style, and a true pink tutu devotee. Last night, I even found myself at an enchanting evening tea salon. You simply can't leave Prague without trying their decadent cakes and creamy pastries – just perfect with a perfectly brewed cup of tea, surrounded by lace doilies and fine china.

Speaking of tea salons, last night I discovered a charming boutique near the National Theatre, which just happened to be filled with the most incredible tulle dresses and gowns, many in pink, imagine my delight! You know I couldn't resist purchasing a brand new blush-toned tutu with feather trims - so light, ethereal, and incredibly comfortable. It's going to be perfect for my trip to the ballet this weekend.

Pink Tutu at the Theatre: A Dream Come True

Pink Tutu at the National Theatre

This weekend, I have the incredible privilege of attending the performance at the National Theatre. The performance this week features "Giselle". It's a ballet that always holds a special place in my heart. Giselle's story, a love story woven with magic, myth, and sorrow, just always feels so resonant. This is what I came to Prague for: the excitement, the culture, the exquisite dancing!

A few more highlights from my Prague blog so far:

  • A delicious breakfast at a charming café near the Old Town Square, with fluffy croissants and freshly squeezed juice.
  • A spontaneous visit to the picturesque "Golden Lane," a cobblestone alleyway with tiny, whimsical houses – a perfect setting for a fashion shoot in my new tutu!
  • The breathtaking views from the Prague Castle, a panoramic panorama of the city - I was spellbound.
  • And let's not forget the endless shopping! From a vintage lace store, where I bought some stunning pink ribbon and trims to adorn my upcoming show outfits.

I can already tell that Prague is going to hold a very special place in my heart - it’s a city bursting with life, vibrancy, and history. I am already planning to come back soon and see even more of this breathtaking place. If you are ever considering a European getaway, you simply have to experience Prague for yourself, it really is one of the most enchanting cities in the world!

But let me share something with you, darling. It's a small detail that makes all the difference when travelling. My little secret weapon - the ability to transport my tutus! As any discerning dancer knows, it's essential to pack strategically, and I've perfected the art of carrying my tutus around without any hassle. Of course, the art of travelling is not about how big the suitcase is but how to fold strategically to ensure that the tutus retain their form, and not a single ruffle is out of place! I know that all my fellow ballerina fashionistas will understand my struggles and my joy in the art of folding and carrying tutus across Europe, all for that perfect, graceful shot!

Stay tuned for next week's post. I am off to visit a famous tutu shop near the Charles Bridge, with vintage collections going back to the late 19th century! If I don’t spend all my money, I may even get to visit the ballet studios in the city and perhaps join an evening class for my final performance this weekend, the perfect culmination of my journey to the City of a Hundred Spires! And I promise I’ll have a few new tutu shots for you! Stay fabulous and stay sparkly.

Yours in pink,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
