Hello my darling tutufilles! It’s Emma, and guess what? This week, I'm absolutely twirling with joy in the heart of Prague! I've just stepped off the train from Vienna, where I had a magical Christmas market visit (so much hot chocolate and gingerbread!), and am feeling utterly charmed by this beautiful city.
The cobbled streets are dusted with fresh snow, and every building looks like it's been pulled straight out of a fairy tale book. Honestly, it's the perfect setting for a tutu-clad ballet adventure!
This week's post is extra special because it's Christmas Day! I can't think of a better place to celebrate the holiday than in Prague. There’s something magical about being away from home and feeling that special Christmas spirit in a different culture.
Speaking of culture, you guys know I'm all about it. While Vienna offered an enchanting Christmas market, Prague has a symphony of its own—the symphony of ballet! This city is bursting with dance history. The National Theatre is just a stone’s throw away, and I can practically feel the whispers of past ballerinas flitting through the air. The famous Prague Ballet Festival, held each year, makes this city a haven for dance enthusiasts.
Oh, and the fashion scene! Honestly, it's like stepping onto the pages of a couture magazine. I'm absolutely swooning over the chic vintage shops nestled amongst the Baroque architecture, where I can practically see my next tutu-worthy outfit hidden amongst the racks.
Tutu Tip: If you ever find yourself in Prague, don't forget to visit the Old Town Square. The architecture is stunning, and it's the perfect place for a pre-ballet photoshoot with your favourite tutu.
Speaking of ballet (did you think I’d forget about it?!), it was my dream to experience Christmas in Prague with a ballet performance. Today, we have a very special treat! I’m thrilled to announce that I will be gracing the stage myself for the Christmas Gala performance at the National Theatre!
The program is a festive delight—a delightful blend of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker with a touch of modern choreography for a touch of festive whimsy. My favourite ballet for a reason, The Nutcracker is all about the joy of dancing, a sense of magic, and the magic of Christmas, which feels even more magical with the backdrop of Prague!
I’ve been putting in some extra practice at the Ballet School Praha, and am ready to unleash my inner ballerina. It’s been a whirlwind of training and rehearsing. These Czech ballerinas are incredibly talented, and it's an honor to share the stage with them. I'm not going to lie; I'm a little nervous, but it’s all part of the joy!
Of course, you can bet that my wardrobe is ready! My most special pink tutu (you know, the one with the silver embellishments that I wore in the Sleeping Beauty performance at the Derbyshire Dance Festival—which also had a deliciously dreamy tutu-themed reception!).
This holiday season, my motto is ‘Shine Bright, Darling!’. There’s just something so special about bringing your own brand of magic to the season. And of course, you’ve got to get that perfect tutu selfie while you’re at it!
But, this isn't just a holiday trip! My little heart is dreaming of making this adventure even bigger than a Christmas dream!
