Pink Tutu Prague - Post 99 - Wednesday 19th March 1997

Hello, darling tutus! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague, my weekly dose of all things pink, sparkly, and oh-so-tutu-licious!

This week, I'm positively giddy with excitement, because I'm in Prague! Oh my goodness, the architecture is simply stunning! It's like stepping into a fairytale, and the cobblestone streets just beg for a twirl (which I, of course, obliged in a magnificent pink tutu).

Now, let me tell you about this magical city. Prague boasts centuries-old buildings, ornate bridges, and an enchanting atmosphere that will leave you spellbound. I mean, who wouldn't be enchanted by a city that seems to whisper tales of history at every corner?

Today, I'm sharing the latest on my Czech adventure, and you're in for a treat!

But first, a quick update on my recent ballet shenanigans: I've been twirling my way across Derbyshire, performing in several fundraising galas. Did I tell you about the fantastic response to my Swan Lake pas de deux? Everyone loved the new pink pointe shoes I picked up! A touch of glitter never hurts, does it?

Speaking of tutus, the grand finale of my recent performance involved a finale involving twenty-two other ballerinas! Each and every one of them wore a different pink tutu! And believe me, darling, that was an astonishing sight to behold! The entire stage shimmered with a dazzling display of pinks, ranging from soft pastel blush to bright fuchsia!

Imagine a scene from Swan Lake but instead of white swans we had a flurry of Pink Ballerinas... It was like something out of a dreamscape, and the audience was positively captivated.

And, oh, my dear readers, it wasn't just a stage spectacle. Each ballerina crafted their own pink tutu using scraps of discarded silk from local sewing shops! The dedication, creativity, and community spirit just made this an extra special evening.

And you know what? I even managed to snag a few of the vintage, hand-stitched tutus from that magical night to add to my collection. You know Iā€™ve always believed in finding the best, vintage tutuā€™s... And Prague was a veritable cornucopia!

Now, back to Prague!

Letā€™s start with travel... It seems that Prague is well connected by train. The train station itself was a beauty. They actually have their own railway that crosses right through the center of Prague, with tracks, and all! Talk about unique design! And it wasnā€™t all smooth sailing, for once my train had to halt, for no other reason than that a herd of adorable little ponyā€™s had wandered onto the line! Can you imagine, little ponies just strolling through the city. You donā€™t see that in Derbyshire, Iā€™ll tell you!

Onto the sights!

One of my favourite stops was the Charles Bridge. It was even more charming than I'd imagined, especially with its street performers adding a touch of magic to the atmosphere. You wouldnā€™t believe what I saw! I saw a magician make a rabbit appear right in front of me from nowhere. A group of local musicians serenaded the passing throng with traditional Czech folk music, the rhythmic beats echoing off the ancient stone walls. I couldnā€™t help but clap my hands in time with their melodies and join them in the twirling of my new pink tulle skirt, feeling as light as a feather floating down the bridge with the scent of freshly baked pastry filling the air!

The next day, I discovered a beautiful little shop tucked away on a side street and managed to snag a darling new pink cashmere beret with a feather nestled inside, and of course, the shop owner made me a pink scarf as well, what a kind woman she is!

And the food, darling, the food! Oh, it was simply delightful. Forget boring bread and butter for afternoon tea! They serve poppy seed rolls and cheese filled pastry swirls with honey! I sampled so many dishes in local bakeries and restaurants, they all melted in my mouth with the delightful and decadent, local flavour! The pastry and desserts, especially the honeyed cookies! Iā€™m not quite sure I managed to fit them in my ballerina bag, but my darling stomach definitely enjoyed a well deserved indulgence!

But the real gem of my Prague stay was the ballet performance! My heart was truly stolen by the artistry and precision of the Prague Ballet company. They danced like a dream, gracefully navigating a choreography that brought tears to my eyes and made me want to jump on stage and twirl along!

The production was Giselle, and oh, darling! It was one of the most breathtaking productions Iā€™ve ever seen!

To my great surprise, it turns out this Prague ballet company is famed for its emphasis on delicate tutus and beautiful pink colour pallets! It was no surprise to me, seeing as I am the Pink Tutu Queen!

Of course, my pink tulle, ballerina shoes and vintage pink tulle scarf had to come out of the suitcase to watch this show in proper, ballerina style!

My week in Prague was just too short to explore everything this enchanting city has to offer! But, I'm already planning my next trip to visit those sites I missed this time, as well as to experience a little more of the Czech culture!

And perhaps I'll even return to Prague Ballet Company when the Swan Lake is on, since their stage seems perfectly suited to my Pink Tutu style!

Until next week darling readers, happy twirling!

P.S. If you havenā€™t seen Pink Tutu Prague, post number 83, ā€œWhen a tutu has more fashion than a shop on Oxford Streetā€ it has some amazing advice on finding tutus that will turn heads in the most stunning ways! You can always check out all the archives at www.pink-tutu.com.

And as a final word, darling. We need to get everyone wearing a pink tutu! Think of it, weā€™re talking millions of pinks swirling in unison! A world, covered in a ballet inspired, pink dreamscape!
