Prague in Pink, Post No. 100: A Tutu-ful Trip Through Time! 🩰✨

Hello my darlings! This Wednesday marks a very special occasion - it’s post number 100 on my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com! 🥂🎉 A hundred weeks of sharing my pink-tinted travels, my love for all things ballet, and of course, the magic of the perfect tutu! It’s been an absolute joy to take you all along with me on this journey, and what better way to celebrate than with a whirlwind tour of Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires!

We touched down in Prague last week, having travelled by a most delightful train journey through the heart of Europe. It was the perfect setting for some fabulous tutu-tastic train travel photos - think vintage lace, sunshine peeking through the carriage windows, and, of course, the essential pink beret to match. 😉

Now, let's get down to business! As you know, the real reason for this trip, apart from my insatiable thirst for exploring, is ballet! Prague boasts a rich history of dance and performance, and we are positively spoilt for choice!

First on the agenda - and it was simply divine - was a visit to the National Theatre on Wednesday 26th March. The very day of my precise arrival in this majestic city, we had a must-see performance of "Giselle"! Oh, the drama! The swirling tutus! The emotional range! Even the very air felt like it was imbued with the passion of the story and the artistry of the ballet.

We spent the next day indulging in the Czech National Ballet's repertoire, which is frankly, to die for. You just must check out the* "Grand Pas de Deux from Le Corsaire"* if you have the chance. Trust me on this! It's like an explosive combination of strength, elegance, and breathtaking choreography. Just what I need to ignite my inner ballerina!

I’m not sure you can even imagine how incredible it is to stand in the same theatre as all those legendary dancers, to witness the artistry that has literally danced upon these very stageboards for over a century. Pinch me, I must be dreaming!

Now, when you travel with moi, you know it's all about finding those perfect ballet boutiques, those places where tutus whisper in the air and the shimmer of fabric catches your eye. Well, my darling lovelies, you wouldn't believe what we found hidden away in a little back street. Imagine my glee when we discovered a charming shop that seemed to have been plucked straight out of a ballerina’s dream. It was full of hand-made costumes, dazzling sequined bodices, and tulle galore! They even had the most stunning collection of vintage tutus, each one with a story to tell! It felt like the stage was whispering all its secrets to me.

There’s nothing I love more than finding little corners of history like this – and Prague is just overflowing with them! We also went on a captivating journey through the historical heart of the city. Wandering through cobbled streets, discovering hidden squares and admiring the iconic Charles Bridge.

Oh, and let’s not forget the shopping! Prague is an absolute wonderland of fashion and style! This place is teeming with little boutiques bursting with individuality, a riot of color, and of course, lots of pink! We've spent hours scouring the local markets and designer shops for everything from statement jewellery and gorgeous shoes, to vintage coats and luxurious scarves. And believe me, it's been an absolute treat!

Don’t forget, I also have a weakness for a spot of antiquing! We stumbled upon a hidden gem - a little shop full of vintage books and curios, including some seriously enchanting ballet-themed treasures. I found a first edition of Swan Lake that's absolutely exquisite! It now takes pride of place on my bedside table!

The food has been absolutely divine! Every day feels like a delicious adventure. We've savoured traditional Czech dishes, like trdelník, that gloriously sticky sweet pastry. Yum! We’ve also indulged in the most wonderful apple strudel you’ve ever tasted – served with a dollop of whipped cream. A little piece of heaven! And the creamy coffee? Don’t even get me started!

I’ve made the most of the sunshine by having leisurely al fresco brunches at cute cafes with twinkling fairy lights, where we've enjoyed the most fabulous views of the city. But you can’t have fun in Prague without getting lost in the magic of the evenings. We’ve indulged in late-night cocktails on rooftop terraces, dancing with the locals under the Prague sky. The joy!

Let me tell you, it's the perfect way to finish off a perfect day!

We're even enjoying the most adorable little local pony rides every afternoon, to a nearby village called Petrin Hill. They’re perfectly pink, of course, and their little bells jingle as we ride! Just a touch of whimsy in this already enchanting place!

I feel like I've only just started to explore all the wonders that Prague has to offer, and I'm so excited to discover even more. We’re even heading to the beautiful town of Český Krumlov to delve deeper into its ancient history and find out how its famous castle has been intertwined with the dance world for centuries. It's sure to be a trip worth a thousand words! But we can talk about that next week.

Now, I have to get ready to meet some friends for a spot of champagne under the moon at the top of Old Town Square, a legendary location known for its iconic astronomical clock! This is how I spend my weekends, lovelies! 🥂

Don’t forget to check back next Wednesday for the next chapter in my adventures!

Stay fabulous and don't forget to live life in a pink tutu! ✨ 💖

Lots of love,

Emma
