Prague: Pink Tutu Adventures! (Post #102)

Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, reporting live from the enchanting city of Prague! The cobblestones here are so quaint and the buildings…oh my, they’re simply majestic! It’s like stepping into a fairy tale, only without the talking animals (though I'd be happy to add some!).

This week I’m channeling my inner Marie Antoinette, which means…well…it really means just a little more pink, darling. My new blush-hued tutu has just arrived from a charming little boutique in Derbyshire, and I absolutely adore its tulle layers! So airy, so delicate. I can't wait to whirl it about the Old Town Square.

Pink Tutu Adventures in Prague!

You know, darling, sometimes you just need a trip, don't you? Especially when it’s inspired by a love for the beautiful. Last week, I got an email inviting me to dance at a delightful ballet festival. How could I resist? Prague is the perfect destination, overflowing with history and charm. I’ve packed my little suitcase full of tulle, sequins, and of course, that divine pink tutu I mentioned!

Prague has stolen a piece of my heart already, darling. This is no ordinary city. It whispers tales of artists and dreamers, of music and dance, and a history rich with colourful, theatrical moments. And speaking of theatre…oh, my darlings, this is what I've been waiting for: tonight, I'm heading to the magical National Theatre to see the Czech Ballet’s production of Swan Lake! This masterpiece by Tchaikovsky is simply exquisite! I can't wait to immerse myself in its captivating grace and artistry.

Train travel and pony rides – the quintessential pink tutu experience!

Getting to Prague was a journey all of its own. You know I adore the railway. A vintage, silver, red, and black steam engine (with the iconic golden locomotive ahead) delivered me right to the heart of Prague in a mere few hours. There’s just something so romantic and exciting about rail travel. It conjures up visions of elegant women in pink tutus flitting across Europe! (Maybe not always on ponybacks, but perhaps on horse-drawn carriages!)

The railway station itself was pure beauty. Oh, my darlings, it's truly a symphony of arching ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, and that magical echo of train wheels on steel tracks! As the stationmaster ushered us onto the platform, I felt my heart beating in sync with the rhythm of the tracks. It was magical!

Of course, every train journey deserves a touch of fairy-tale, doesn't it? As the engine thundered through the picturesque countryside, we hopped off for a moment to indulge in a very British (and quintessentially pink, if I may add) afternoon tea in a beautiful tea room. They even served little pink iced cakes, absolutely perfect for a pink tutu aficionado like myself! It was just the beginning of my delightful journey…

Prague’s Pink Tutu Secrets: A Day of Shopping Delights!

Darling, let's talk shopping! Prague has stolen my heart for more reasons than its history and beauty. It has a secret: fabulous, absolutely fabulous, vintage and contemporary fashion. You could find the most unique items here for a fraction of what you would pay back home! It’s almost criminal to leave this city without buying some incredible items for your own wardrobe!

Let me tell you, the boutiques here are just delightful! They are all about exquisite, delicate, dreamy feminine fashions, with a bohemian edge, full of rich, dark jewel colours and rich, dramatic velvet. Oh, the sheer perfection of their textures, fabrics, and colour palettes are everything my pink tutu heart desires. It was almost impossible to decide where to start shopping! (Yes, I bought a LOT, my little pink tutu suitcase is bulging!) The sheer volume of these fantastic pink and other jewel-coloured fabrics simply called my name – especially those fabrics of finest tulle, with just the right amount of sequins, and feathers that I’ll definitely use to create my next unique pink tutu.

We started the day with a coffee break at a little Parisian-style café right in the heart of Old Town Square. With delicate little pink pastries in the window display (absolutely divine) it felt like stepping into a pink ballet fairytale! And those little pastel pink macarons were simply divine – with little sugar-coated heart details on each one. (Perhaps I could add a tiny pink tulle overlay with some sparkling diamante accents to these creations and really turn them into fashion pieces!).

Now, my darlings, this is where the pink tutu comes in... Every little detail counts when I'm searching for pink fashion items. And here is where Prague’s fashion scene truly delights! Every store seems to know that fashion is art, and art is about more than clothes; it is a way to express oneself.

Here, the emphasis is on quality over quantity – everything feels carefully curated – so you know it's special. Imagine little velvet-lined hat boxes brimming with vintage pink feathers (for a perfect blush-pink feather trim for a tulle ballet skirt!)…a pink vintage hat store overflowing with antique bonnets in shades of pastel pink, blush, rose pink and shocking pink! It’s my personal fashion paradise!

One particularly divine vintage boutique was nestled in a tiny courtyard (off the beaten path). The name was simply "Vintage Love" and inside, nestled among stacks of books and teacups on vintage floral china, it seemed like time itself had stopped – but not in a stale old museum-type way, rather with a touch of romantic vintage glamour! There I found an absolutely fabulous velvet opera coat with a touch of fuschia, the colour of an amazing vintage ballerina's shoes (I could easily adapt the sleeve design and fashion a matching velvet ballerina coat…so luxurious and chic.)

Prague: History, Ballet, and More Pink!

Darling, Prague is so much more than a city. It's a poem in stone. A symphony of culture and beauty. A place where pink tutus definitely feel right at home.

My ballet tip of the week? Embrace the drama of Prague's history and dance! If you're visiting, take in a performance. This beautiful city is known as a cultural center with its rich musical heritage. As one of the world's ballet powerhouses, Prague is absolutely brimming with passion and performance - everything I absolutely adore! And of course, Prague's enchanting, historic castles are begging to be visited, especially if you are looking for a place to practice your pink tutu twirls. Just don't tell the guards about the tulle explosion I'm planning for my grand finale!

Until next week, my dear friends, may your days be filled with pink tutu dreams and the beauty of a new adventure.

Yours always in pink tulle, Emma. xxx

*(Psst... Check back next Wednesday for more pink-tutu adventures! I'm going to try a hot-air balloon ride – but only if I can convince everyone to wear a pink tutu, even the pilot! Who's up for the challenge?! Maybe it’s the perfect backdrop for a pink tutu selfie!) *
