Prague Post #111: Dancing through the cobbled streets

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Prague post! The sun is shining, the cobblestones are sparkling, and the air is filled with the music of laughter, clinking beer mugs, andā€¦ yes, you guessed itā€¦ ballet!

Today, my lovelies, we're delving into the world of ballet, Prague-style! I'm talking tutus, twirls, and tales of the grandest kind. I've been exploring the city, absorbing the culture and, of course, attending a simply divine ballet performance ā€“ my absolute favourite way to experience a new place.

As you know, I'm on a mission to spread the joy of the pink tutu ā€“ a symbol of grace, beauty, and just plain good fun. And there's no better place to do it than in Prague, a city brimming with history, art, and captivating stories.

Now, let me take you on a little journey through my day. Imagine this: the smell of fresh pastries wafting from the cafes, the sight of golden domes rising above the rooftops, and the sounds of classical music echoing through the ancient streets.

It all started with a ride on the beautiful, historical, red and gold Czech tram. Now, this is where the pink tutu came into play. You see, I always find a way to incorporate a bit of pink magic into my adventures. It was simply impossible to resist wearing my new pink satin tutu, complete with sparkling silver sequined embellishments ā€“ the perfect outfit for a day exploring the enchanting streets of Prague!

After the tram ride, I took a lovely stroll along the banks of the Vltava River, marvelling at the Charles Bridge. This ancient marvel is filled with beautiful statues of saints, making it a truly inspirational place to feel a little bit of spiritual joy. But I always try to take a moment to consider what it was like to be a ballet dancer in these same streets in the 19th century.

I bet those ballerinas were just as fascinated by the bridge as I am ā€“ and perhaps, with my little bit of pink tutu magic, their footsteps would've brought a touch more lightness to the city!

Then, the real adventure began ā€“ the ballet performance! I canā€™t reveal the name of the performanceā€¦ yet, but letā€™s just say, the ballet hall was a glittering haven of classical beauty. As the music began and the dancers took to the stage, the story unfolded like a beautiful dream. It was a magical, graceful spectacle of beauty that had my heart fluttering and my feet tapping. The graceful moves, the delicate footwork, and the poignant music, brought all the beautiful ballet tales I've been learning since childhood into my heart and soul.

Oh! I almost forgot, after the performance, a delightful experience in itself, I decided to do some shopping! Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a little boutique filled with vintage clothing ā€“ Iā€™m talking feathers, sequins, and everything else that sparkles! Of course, I couldn't resist snagging a few treasures to add to my ever-growing collection of ballet-inspired fashion! I can't wait to share them with you!

For me, Prague has it all. Every corner holds a secret, every cafe serves delicious pastries and coffee, every square whispers tales of centuries past and each alleyway tells a new story.

But, let's face it, the true highlight of my trip is the ballet! Pragueā€™s ballet heritage is deep and enchanting, the history is evident at every turn and with each beautiful dance and I can't wait to share it with you all!

So, dear readers, until next Wednesday when we take our weekly dip into Prague life! Until then, keep dancing, keep smiling, and donā€™t forget, every day is an opportunity to wear your inner pink tutu!

Love and light,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com

More Pink Tutu Fun

Now, as we take a moment to soak in all the delights of Prague, I want to share some extra tutu-tastic treats! You see, life in Prague, as enchanting as it is, isnā€™t all cobbled streets, and magical ballet performances! Thereā€™s also shopping, sightseeing, and enjoying all those wonderful foodie experiences a place like this has to offer.

My Favourite Pink Things in Prague

  • Pink Ice Cream: If thereā€™s one thing I've learnt on my travels, it's that no city is truly complete without a perfect, pink, creamy treat. Now, in Prague, it was easy to fall in love with the flavours! My favourite spot was a tiny little cafe hidden down a cobbled side street, it had the most delicious flavours! Strawberry, bubble gum, and cherry with a sprinkling of edible pink glitter, divine!

  • Pink Prague Castles : Yes, my dear reader, you guessed it, I love visiting historical landmarks -especially ones painted a beautiful rosy shade of pink! The pink shade in this part of the world reminds me of beautiful antique porcelain teacups you would find in your Nanaā€™s dresser. I always visit at least one of Pragueā€™s famous castles every day - they are quite impressive in the pink evening light!

  • Pink Ballet Shoes : Naturally, a ballet journey has to involve some special shopping experiences and finding pink treasures, especially ballet shoes! My favourite spot was a little shop called ā€œBallet Bohemia.ā€ It was like walking into a wonderland of shimmering ribbons, luxurious silks, and every style of pink ballet shoe you could ever imagine ā€“ so I purchased five pairs. Itā€™s always better to be prepared for unexpected dance performances, right?

Pink Prague by Train!

Oh, darling, I couldn't possibly leave out a travel adventure! Thereā€™s just something incredibly magical about the idea of taking a train trip ā€“ itā€™s just pure romance. The gentle sway of the train, the sounds of clicking tracks, the whizzing past of rolling countryside scenery - all these simple joys are perfect when youā€™re feeling inspired by your latest ballet performance.

Luckily, I managed to find a rather beautiful historical steam train with cherry red carriage cars - thatā€™s about as pink as it gets for trains in the Czech Republic, and we made our way to the charming medieval village of Cesky Krumlov. I imagine you already know that Czech Krumlov has been nominated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, which means that itā€™s definitely worth visiting! Itā€™s been nicknamed the ā€œCzech Little Pragueā€ by locals ā€“ which is not surprising at all, because, this magical medieval town, looks like a storybook.

It also features another wonderful surprise for pink tutu lovers ā€“ it has the most lovely ballet performance school, hidden away, up in the rolling hills, surrounded by nature! There, amidst the stunning scenery, I spent a wonderful morning trying on a vintage pink ballet tutu! Now, if you're thinking about travelling by train through Europe, just imagine it, you too can experience this magical beauty.

Prague is Calling!

To my dearest fellow tutu lovers, Prague has captured my heart. Itā€™s a beautiful, historic city full of culture and charm, and as you know, it's been a joy to explore it. The beautiful buildings, the bustling atmosphere, and those amazing cafes ā€“ itā€™s an unforgettable journey to be savouring. But beyond the historical streets, it's the spirit of this magical city that will always remind me how magical a pink tutu truly is.
