Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means a brand new adventure from your favourite pink-tutu-clad, ballet-loving, travel-obsessed blogger - me, Emma! This week, I'm writing to you from the cobbled streets of magical Prague, where the fairytale architecture is practically begging to be twirled in front of! As always, my travel funds are thanks to the lovely ballet performances I do back home in Derbyshire, but trust me, my latest venture to Prague is worth every pirouette and pliƩ.
This time around, it's all about Pink Tutu Prague! I'm going to share my absolute favourite ballet-related finds, the prettiest Prague spots to wear your most flamboyant tutu (the more frills, the better, darlings!), and a sneak peek into the magical world of Czech ballet. But first, let me tell you all about my fabulous journey getting here...
The Pink Tutu Express: My travel to Prague was an experience in itself. This time I chose the ultimate romantic and scenic route: a train journey from London. Yes, a classic European train journey! Picture this: plush velvet seats, the gentle rattle of the wheels on the tracks, charming conductors serving delicious tea with tiny cakes... all topped off with my oh-so-elegant, petal-pink tutu. Let's be honest, the train carriage might have been a tad less glamorous than my usual balletic attire, but hey, when you've got a pink tutu and a whimsical heart, every adventure becomes a ballet performance!
Pony Power: Of course, no journey to a city bursting with charm like Prague is complete without a dash of animal magic! I arrived in the city with a grand flourish thanks to a handsome chestnut pony - I must admit, I always did fancy a bit of āBlack Beautyā glamour to go with my pink tutu!
Prague, Oh Prague: And oh my darlings, the city of Prague itself is an absolute delight! As I wandered through the cobblestone squares and ancient streets, I couldn't help but be captivated by the majestic architecture. Think Gothic spires, Baroque facades, and charming Renaissance squares - each turn unveiling a new breathtaking view. The city is a masterpiece of artistic heritage and romantic charm. Honestly, I just wanted to pirouette through every doorway and dance across every bridge!
Where the Tutu Blooms: I was, naturally, completely determined to find the perfect tutu-wearing locations, and I can tell you, Prague doesnāt disappoint. I'll tell you all about my adventures in the magical Prague Old Town Square in a little while - a tutu's paradise, let me tell you - but first, a little ballet history...
Dancing with the History: My dear pink-tutu loving friends, one thing that excites me almost as much as a fabulous tutu is a dose of ballet history! Prague boasts a long and illustrious ballet heritage, dating back to the 17th century. While the city is known for its opera (more on that later), itās a rich and exciting hub for dance! It was only fitting that my first ballet encounter in Prague took place at the National Theatre, a spectacular, flamboyant building on the banks of the Vltava River. The theatre has played host to countless world-renowned ballet companies, and to walk through its halls is to take a step back in time. I could feel the ghosts of past ballerinas twirling on the stage.
Dancing on Ice: The next morning, I headed straight for the delightful National Theatre again ( I had a couple of tutu-tastic looks I had to wear! ). Tonight's show was 'Swan Lake' and the dancing, the artistry, the pure joy that flowed from the stage was exquisite. Evenings at the opera house, surrounded by beautiful people enjoying an elegant show... well, you could say that Iāve pretty much hit the jackpot of lovely experiences!
Fashionable Find: Prague's Secret Boutique: Now, no pink tutu journey would be complete without a trip to a magical boutique. And Pragueās āPrague Fashion Boutiqueā was absolutely breathtaking! Think a beautiful little shop filled with handcrafted gowns, luxurious fabrics, and sparkling accessories - perfect for elevating any tutu ensemble. It was like walking into a fairytale of lace and satin, and I walked out with the most elegant silk scarf youāve ever seen (naturally in my signature shade of pink!).
Twirling Through Old Town Square: As soon as the sun broke the horizon the next day, I was headed to the magnificent Old Town Square. It's a sprawling heart of Prague, an area where history comes alive in the cobblestones and the centuries-old buildings. And when I tell you the streets and the Old Town Hall clock were practically begging me to twirl, Iām not exaggerating!
Imagine, a magnificent backdrop of gothic architecture, cobblestone paths that twist and turn like ballet steps, a vibrant fountain reflecting the colors of the sunrise ā¦ well, the whole scene had me spinning with delight!
The Dance of Fashion and Beauty: My friends, if there's one thing I've learnt on my travels it's that a little touch of whimsy and romance goes a long way. A pink tutu might not be the first choice for a casual outing, but in the captivating ambiance of Prague, it transformed into the perfect accessory to express my personality and embrace the fairytale-like feeling that Prague exudes.
On My To-Do List (And What's on This Date!) Today is a really special day for my little blog! You see, it's 18th February, 1998, the exact date that āTitanic' premiered! I couldn't have been happier, and to celebrate, I picked myself a beautiful navy velvet ribbon with pearls to match the filmās famous colour scheme - what a gorgeous look! My friends and I are planning on spending a magical afternoon at the cinema dressed in all our finest ballet gear to pay homage to the legendary film.
I've had so many wonderful experiences during this trip.
