Prague in Pink: Post 174!

Bonjour mes amies! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a fresh instalment of my Pink Tutu Prague blog! 🩰✨

This week I've been living out my very best fairytale in the heart of Prague. Let's just say, this city is utterly enchanting. Cobblestone streets winding like ribbons through historical buildings, breathtaking architecture whispering stories from centuries past, and even the aroma of delicious pastries hangs in the air like magic. Oh, and don't even get me started on the Czech beer! I might just be converting to beer-lover status after my trip, wouldn't that be divine? 🍺

Of course, I wouldn't be here without my trusted travel companion, my very own Pink Tutu. We've been dancing through Europe for months now, creating the most magnificent memories, and Prague was no exception! 💖

My mission here is to absorb all the Czech ballet culture I can. Today, it's Wednesday the 26th of August, 1998, and we're about to take in a magical performance at the National Theatre! I heard whispers of a "Giselle" performance this evening and, oh darling, I simply had to experience it for myself. Can you imagine, dancing beneath the gilded ceiling of the National Theatre in my Pink Tutu? It's like a dream come true, truly! 🤩

But let's take a moment to rewind and explore Prague a bit. This city is practically overflowing with enchanting beauty. On Saturday, I wandered through the bustling Old Town Square. The astronomical clock was a wonder, with its intricate details and playful figures, it's no wonder it's considered a Prague landmark! Afterwards, we popped into a charming cafe for a steaming cup of "coffee" with the locals. Let me tell you, their "coffee" isn't really coffee at all, it's a divine, decadent drink served with cream and sometimes a delicious sprinkle of chocolate! Heavenly!

My Tuesday was dedicated to history. We hopped on the tram to Prague Castle. This majestic hilltop complex with its spires and gardens is simply magnificent. Imagine all the royal ballrooms, elegant gatherings, and dances that have graced these walls. A truly magnificent piece of history.

Speaking of history, let's talk about tutus, darlings! You see, this city has quite a vibrant ballet scene. Did you know the National Theatre itself boasts a 135-year-old ballet history, and the ballet academy in Prague is nearly 200 years old? That's practically ancient in ballet years! Imagine all the incredible dancers and breathtaking productions that graced the stages of Prague throughout the years.

It's a well-known fact, the ballerina of the ballet has changed the form of the tutu over the centuries. You'd never see a romantic era ballerina dancing in the form of the tutu today, would you?! 🩰

Anyway, as I was saying, my journey here wasn't just about absorbing the ballet history, but about finding that perfect tutu for the "Giselle" performance. Oh darling, I was in a tutu shop for at least an hour on Monday! And guess what, I found the one! I am positively radiant in it. It’s a dreamy pale pink, with just a hint of glitter that shines under the theatre's lighting. Perfect for dancing under the stars! ✨

Of course, no visit to Prague is complete without a touch of shopping. Prague is truly a haven for fashionistas! Yesterday, I stumbled upon a beautiful boutique on a quiet street off the Old Town Square. The store was a symphony of pastels and ruffles, perfect for my Pink Tutu aesthetic. I had to treat myself to a little something, a delicate, silk scarf, naturally, with delicate roses woven throughout its design. I cannot wait to wear it with my Pink Tutu for our “Giselle” adventure tonight! 🎀

And finally, there is something I haven't mentioned… Prague's connection with the legendary Pink Panther. Did you know the first Pink Panther film was set right here? Oh, how I would love to be dancing along to Henry Mancini’s enchanting music through the cobbled streets! But hey, who knows, maybe I'll try out a little ballet improv by the Charles Bridge before my night out at the National Theatre. Imagine! Pink Tutu against a moonlit bridge and the shimmering Prague skyline as my backdrop. Could it be more beautiful? 🌃

Right now, darling, I'm heading back to my charming guesthouse for a relaxing bath in lavender bubbles. Later, we will be having the most amazing dinner in a restaurant filled with romance, delicious smells, and of course, delicious local food and Czech beer, all before getting ready for the show! 💖

I shall return, with a full recap of the evening at the National Theatre. It’s going to be a performance for the ages! I can just see my pink tutu glowing beneath the theater’s light.

Until then, my dearest readers, stay pink!

Love,

Emma

💖

P.S. I just heard news that a young dancer named "Emma" will be taking part in the "Giselle" performance this evening. How fabulous is that?! I am thrilled to know there will be another “Emma” out there taking to the stage! Perhaps this young ballerina has her very own pink tutu somewhere hidden within her dance bag?! One can dream… 💖
