Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballet-tastic Adventure! (Post #251)

Bonjour, darling tutufarians! It’s Emma here, your resident pink tutu princess, and I’m absolutely bursting with excitement to share my latest escapade with you. This week, I’ve traded the cobblestone streets of my Derbyshire hometown for the magical city of Prague! And let me tell you, it’s a true dreamland for a ballerina like myself.

Prague’s architecture is truly stunning - I swear I could have sworn I saw a few gingerbread houses dotted about the city, although I suppose I might just be experiencing some kind of sugary sugarplum fantasy... But anyway, I absolutely fell in love with this city’s charm, from its winding alleyways to the glorious Charles Bridge. It’s like stepping into a fairytale! And guess what? Even better than fairytales? Prague is absolutely brimming with beautiful ballet studios!

This week's adventures in pink have been simply heavenly! First of all, I just had to visit the Národní divadlo, the stunning National Theatre. Did you know that it's built on a small island on the Vltava River? How dreamy is that? I popped by a couple of the fancy dress shops, and you wouldn’t believe the exquisite tutus I found! All shades of pink, from soft blush to vibrant flamingo, with glorious sequins and bows. Oh, the temptation was so strong, but I restrained myself. (Only just).

On Tuesday evening, I found myself utterly captivated by the magnificent performance of The Sleeping Beauty. The costumes, the music, the artistry, everything was so breathtakingly perfect. It’s like they’d transported us directly into the fairytale! The Prague National Ballet, wow, what incredible dancers. Honestly, darling tutufarians, the only way to describe it is that the magic was truly enchanting! And of course, I made a bee-line for the National Theatre's fabulous ballet bookshop and added to my collection of vintage tutus from around the globe. This time it was a delightful, oh so slightly moth-eaten pink and pearl, 19th-century ballet shoes box! What a bargain, although let's be honest it was far too precious to ever think about using!

Speaking of bargains, you all know that a shopping spree is never complete without a delicious stop at a cute, charming cafe, right? Especially when the cafe is crammed full of fabulous little tutu-themed souvenirs. Just picture it - ballerina dolls in beautiful pink tutus, adorable pink tutu keyrings, ballet shoes shaped teacups… my inner ballerina completely went into a tizzy. I think I indulged a little too much on my first visit, but of course, who am I to argue with pink perfection! I couldn't leave without a precious little ballerina charm bracelet, and let’s just say it is already my go-to accessory for when I’m on the go exploring Prague!

After indulging my sweet tooth and indulging in pink overload, it was time for a more sophisticated evening, and that meant attending a stunning performance at the elegant Estates Theatre, which is nestled in the heart of Prague. The building is truly remarkable – built in the 18th century with exquisite architecture, and they say it's haunted by a certain Mr. Mozart who actually wrote some of his operas there. Imagine a composer haunted by his own creations! I'm picturing an army of ghost fiddlers – just picture the tiny pink tutus that I would sew for them... whispers. I could only dream of a musical haunt so grand as Mozart's but luckily the current artistic troupe have their feet firmly on the ground and offered a delightful rendition of “The Nutcracker” that kept me completely spellbound, right from the very first notes.

Wednesday morning was for catching up on my social media – and that meant uploading photos from all my pink adventures. Now I don't want to boast, darling tutufarians, but I think I managed to find the most picturesque cafe to share with you, in the most beautiful little square just across the river. It's an absolute haven for pink lovers and ballerina dreams. And with every little piece of cheesecake I devoured, I got more and more inspired to post pictures! Every ballerina needs her fuel for dancing. Cheesecake, of course!

After the cheesecake indulgence it was time to take a much-needed little siesta (well, it was almost noon). The afternoon brought more of the glorious Prague architectural delights, which included wandering through the gorgeous, charming gardens of Petrin Hill and finding a quirky vintage costume shop where I snagged the most amazing little pink satin beret for my ballerina wardrobe! You should see it, it even has tiny pink sequin hearts that twirl and dance with the movement. This evening, my pink tutufarians, I had the incredible opportunity to take a little ballet lesson at a studio in the charming Old Town, where a most enchanting instructor patiently walked me through a selection of delicate moves. I even dared to try out a beautiful pas de bourree, which honestly looked more like a pink penguin wobbling on the floor.

The instructor assured me that "a ballerina in a pink tutu is never truly off-key". She also added that the colour pink "symbolised happiness, creativity and grace." She explained that every step is part of a beautiful ballet and that even those that wobble and twirl in the wrong direction are contributing to the perfect imperfection of life. That certainly lifted my ballerina spirits! Now my legs were certainly feeling the burn. I know that the "burn" is essential for achieving ballerinas goals but the aching was undeniable and demanded that I give myself some extra self-care attention. This evening, I went full-on 'pink tutu indulgence' by splashing out on a very luxurious aromatherapy bath and, of course, a few extra scoops of my favourite Pink Peppermint tea, because every ballerina deserves a little bit of luxurious pampering at the end of a long and graceful day.

So there you have it, my darlings, a delightful little peek into my Parisian adventure. It’s been absolutely sensational - packed with magical moments, a fair share of tutu shopping, ballet shows to die for, and all topped off with the tastiest pink cakes that a ballerina could wish for!

My Pink Tutu Promise? I'm going to find the prettiest, pinkest spot in Prague, grab my most adorable pink tutu and do a mini performance to remind everyone just how much fun the city really is.

Don't forget to subscribe to Pink-tutu.com, and stay tuned for next week’s post about the amazing places I have planned to see in Vienna, Austria. Until next time, my beautiful ballerinas. Keep on twirling, keep on smiling, and most importantly… keep those tutus pink!
