Prague, My Dearest, You’ve Stolen My Heart! (Blog Post #269)

Bonjour, my darlings!

Emma here, your ever-so-pink-obsessed ballerina, writing to you live from the enchanting city of Prague! Oh, how I adore this place! The cobbled streets, the charming cafes, the fairytale castles… it’s all utterly bewitching. And of course, I couldn't resist twirling through Prague in my very own bespoke pink tutu, designed specifically for this city. Think layers of shimmering tulle, delicate embroidery with tiny, pink Prague bridges, and a little touch of Czech crystal, for extra sparkle. It’s the perfect attire for exploring this magical metropolis!

This week's adventures, as always, began with a morning ballet class, which, thanks to the magical wonders of technology, I could take in a delightful little studio nestled within Prague's Old Town. You know me, always looking for those little Parisian pockets of peace amongst the hustle and bustle!

The ballet studio itself was pure magic. All soft pinks and pale peaches, with a chandelier made of spun sugar and a little fountain in the corner cascading sparkling, pearlescent drops of water. A dream, honestly.

I began with my usual warm-up routine. I couldn’t resist incorporating some steps inspired by Czech folk dancing – imagine pirouettes with a little twirl of a skirt! I have to say, I think it made my ballet teacher a little dizzy, but she has an infectious, joyful laugh and an eye for detail which, honestly, is my favourite combination. My morning finished with a final grand plié, as we are always reaching for those gorgeous, elegant lines, darling, just like a Parisian street in a soft afternoon light.

After class, it was off to indulge in a little retail therapy! It wouldn’t be a blog post about Prague without mentioning a touch of designer shopping! And let me tell you, darling, this city doesn’t disappoint. Imagine a maze of vintage shops and cobblestone squares overflowing with hand-stitched accessories and, of course, the most spectacular boutiques. You see, Prague is a treasure trove of handcrafted brilliance.

My mission, as you know, is to spread the pink tutu love everywhere I go. It’s a lifestyle, darling! So, I spent the afternoon hunting for little pink details to complement my wardrobe – and my tutu!

There’s something utterly captivating about discovering an unusual pink accessory, and Prague was full of these beautiful little treasures. Think delicate pink Czech glass beads woven into delicate chains, with each bead glistening like a thousand stars. Then there was a boutique, bursting with handcrafted ballet slippers in the most fabulous shades of blush, rose, and pink!

Later that evening, the magic truly unfolded as I joined the locals at Prague's National Theatre for the exquisite performance of La Bayadère, set to the ethereal melodies of Ludwig Minkus. The theatre, adorned in opulent golden accents, with shimmering crystal chandeliers and sweeping balconies, was the perfect setting for the vibrant colours, captivating artistry, and elegant costumes of this masterpiece. The graceful leaps and delicate footwork of the dancers seemed to effortlessly defy gravity, and I felt transported into a world of magic, myth, and enchanting beauty. My pink tutu, shimmering in the warm glow of the stage lights, was, quite simply, the perfect finishing touch.

This week's show, darlings, was especially enchanting, showcasing a special new lighting effect with sparkling pink ribbons streaming from the rafters, which truly amplified the vibrant spirit of this production. It was so wonderfully theatrical and utterly spectacular, I couldn't stop clapping at the end of each act.

Oh, but the show is only part of the magic, darling! Prague's vibrant energy, combined with its stunning architecture, leaves me completely captivated! It was a truly memorable evening. Afterwards, as the night settled over the city, I decided to enjoy a stroll through the streets. Prague by night is quite a special thing, darlings. I just love the sound of cobblestones, especially under moonlight! I stopped to enjoy the city's famous Astronomical Clock as it chimed the midnight hour, and took a peek inside St. Vitus Cathedral for a moment of quiet reflection, surrounded by centuries of history. Prague, darling, really does make you feel like you're stepping back in time.

After my leisurely stroll, I popped into a little café, tucked away in a hidden corner of Prague's old city, to enjoy a hot chocolate with whipped cream – a perfect Parisian-inspired treat! The ambiance of the cafe was as delightful as the delicious aroma of coffee and fresh pastries. And with a cup of warm, rich hot chocolate, my Parisian evening was truly complete!

My week in Prague is drawing to a close, and my suitcase, filled with new pink-tastic treasures and happy memories, is already packed. However, the allure of Prague, with its stunning sights, charming locals, and beautiful blend of history and modern life, will linger long after I depart. I know one thing, my dear darlings, I'll be back. And I’ll be wearing pink, naturally!

Until next week, be sure to check out my latest tutu designs at www.pink-tutu.com! And keep the faith – we are on a mission to spread pink tutu love throughout the world, one pirouette at a time.

Happy twirling, darling!

Love always, Emma xx
