Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet, Bling, and Bohemian Bliss (Blog Post #319)

Bonjour, mes chΓ©ries!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a fresh dose of Pink Tutu, and this week, I'm taking you all on a magical trip with me to Prague! Now, Prague, darling, is truly a city that melts your heart with its cobbled streets, ancient castles, and the sheer amount of gorgeous pink things I've discovered (although finding pink tutus in this part of the world is proving a little trickier than I anticipated). But fear not, my lovelies, because there are so many fabulous ballet-related delights on offer here, it's enough to make a ballerina's heart do a double pirouette!

Last week, I caught a thrilling performance at the Royal Opera House in London, the proceeds of which helped fund this Prague escapade. As you know, darling, my life is an endless ballet – one graceful leap from London's theatre scene to a breathtaking train journey through Europe, arriving in Prague just in time for…

Ballet Magic: An Evening at The National Theatre

Oh, my darlings, the magic of Prague really hit me as soon as I walked into the National Theatre! The moment you enter, you are enveloped by history and artistry – the intricate architectural details, the soaring arches, the velvety red curtains. Talk about a fairytale! And of course, a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a ballet performance!

Tonight's performance was a dream come true – Giselle! I had been anticipating this ballet ever since I heard about it from Madame Lafont at our dance studio in Derbyshire. The story, darling, the costumes, the dancing, it was just utterly divine. It made my little ballet heart burst with joy! The way they spun and jumped and flew through the air, it was as if the stage had transformed into a magical woodland. You know how much I adore a romantic story – and Giselle, my darlings, is pure romance.

There was one part where this exquisite ballerina, whose name I sadly didn't get, performed this en pointe routine with so much feeling, her steps telling the story without a single word. I don't think I've ever seen such grace and elegance, it literally brought tears to my eyes. And oh, my dears, her pink tulle skirt… talk about a showstopper! You see, it's not just the colour pink itself – it's about the emotion, the tenderness, the vulnerability it portrays – like a delicate rose opening up, full of fragile beauty. Just exquisite.

But of course, it wasn't just the ballerina that had me captivated! The music was enchanting – each note seemed to lift me higher and higher above the ground, ready to join them on stage.

After the performance, I felt as if I had been transported to another realm – filled with wonder, artistry, and just pure joy. That's the magic of ballet, you see! It's a world of its own, where anything is possible, where dreams can come alive and emotions can soar to breathtaking heights.

Prague Adventures: From Castles to Cobblestones

While the ballet certainly took centre stage this week, I haven't let my exploration of this charming city fall by the wayside! The cobblestone streets here are utterly romantic, the architecture is just dreamy, and the scent of cinnamon pastries from every little bakery around each corner is enough to make you weak at the knees.

My Shopping Adventures:

Now, darlings, a trip to Prague wouldn't be complete without a spot of shopping! I absolutely love discovering all the local boutiques and antique stores. The craftsmanship and intricate detail here are truly remarkable. I've managed to pick up a few gems, including the most exquisite little crystal brooch – it's perfect for adding a touch of bohemian sparkle to any ensemble. I found the perfect place for vintage pink, darling! A little hidden away store called "Vintage Dream" which sold a stunning blush-coloured silk scarf that reminded me of the delicate blush on the petals of a blossoming rose – oh, I just had to have it.

My Castle Discovery:

A ballerina can't leave Prague without venturing to Prague Castle, can she? It is truly an architectural masterpiece, perched atop a hill, looking over the city like a watchful guardian. As I strolled through the courtyards and the magnificent gothic cathedral, it was impossible not to be moved by the weight of history. It felt as though the echoes of kings and queens still lingered in the air.

Oh, my dears, and the view of the city! It's truly breath-taking! Imagine, if you will, an endless vista of red roofs, glistening spires, and a golden sunset that paints the entire city in hues of warmth and magic – I felt like a real-life fairy princess perched on her very own pink cloud, floating over a fantastical land. And let's not forget the adorable little pink flower market I found nestled amongst the cobblestones, full of blooming lilies, blush-toned peonies, and delicate cherry blossoms. Just perfectly pink for this Pink Tutu Princess.

My Pony Adventure:

No trip to Europe would be complete without a horse-drawn carriage ride, darling. I booked a tour around Prague's Old Town, perched atop a very handsome steed in the most beautiful lilac-coloured carriage you ever did see. As we clopped over the cobblestones, my hair caught the wind and the soft, rhythmic movement felt like a ballet in itself. Just like I always tell you, a true ballerina is never off stage – even while traveling!

Tutu Inspiration: Pink Hues and Bohemian Chic

The influence of this magnificent city, my darlings, is already bubbling over with inspiration for my future tutu designs. Imagine, if you will, the classic, romantic tutu but with the vibrant, bohemian flare of the Prague street art. Pink tulle, perhaps with pops of gold or red, maybe some elaborate beading and shimmering jewels – oh, I can already see it in my mind's eye! And then the way the dancers move would become part of the art – the swirling and dipping as they paint their own whimsical masterpieces with their tutus on the stage. Oh my dears, I can't wait to start sketching!

Pink Tutu Travels: Prague, the Enchanting Waltz

So my dears, Prague has truly been an enchanted waltz – filled with magic, beauty, history, and of course, a good dose of pink! It's a city that invites you to let your imagination take flight, to lose yourself in the music and movement of the streets, and to rediscover the joy of simple beauty. And while I'm leaving the enchanting world of Prague with a heavy heart, I can't help but feel as though this is only the beginning of a grand adventure that will forever be etched in my Pink Tutu memories.

Until next time, darling. Keep those twirling shoes laced tight, and remember – even the most beautiful swan has to spread her wings and take flight once in a while!

P.S. Remember my mission? Get everyone in a pink tutu? I saw the cutest little Prague shop filled with pale pink tutus, darling, but you'll have to wait for next week's post to discover the name, where it is, and my pink tutu finds from Prague! Until then, stay gorgeous and always remember to shine!

Lots of pink love,

Emma xx
