Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet, Bohemia and Bubbles! - Post #331
Hello darling tutu lovers!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous Pink Tutu adventure! This week, I've traded the rolling Derbyshire hills for the charming cobblestones of Prague, a city steeped in history and, quite frankly, ridiculously beautiful. I canāt wait to share the wonders Iāve discovered with you all!
(Outfit Alert! I am channeling my inner fairytale princess in a pink tulle tutu (of course!) with delicate floral embellishments, a silky blush-coloured top, and my favourite pair of sparkly ballet flats. It's a look fit for a queenā¦or a whimsical Prague fairy, as Iām finding out!)
Prague ā a Ballet Loverās Dream
This city just seems to have a ballet spirit in its very core. Imagine this, walking down a cobbled street lined with pastel-coloured buildings, then you catch a glimpse of dancers twirling gracefully in a charming courtyardā¦ yes, Iāve been doing exactly that! Thereās such an air of romance and art here, you practically feel the pirouettes in your heart.
First Stop: The National Theatre
As soon as I arrived, I headed straight for the majestic National Theatre, a grand old dame of a building built right on the banks of the Vltava River. Oh, and did I mention itās ridiculously beautiful? Imagine turrets, pillars, grand balconies, and enough opulent detailing to make you dizzyā¦ or inspire a thousand tutu designs!
I wasnāt just admiring the architecture, mind you! This iconic theatre houses the prestigious National Theatre Ballet, a company renowned for its breathtaking performances and strong storytelling. This evening, Iām witnessing their latest masterpiece ā āSwan Lakeā, and I'm positively bursting with excitement!
A Fashionable Feast for the Eyes
As much as I love a ballet show, you know I also have a keen eye for style! The Czech Republic is known for its gorgeous textiles and traditional crafts, which translates into an explosion of colour and design everywhere I go. This is like a paradise for fashion-loving souls.
On my first shopping spree, I snagged a stunning embroidered vintage shawl ā just imagine it draped over a silky pink dress! And the Prague Christmas market (yes, theyāre open all year round!) is overflowing with handmade trinkets, bohemian jewellery, and leather goods ā perfect for creating a whimsical Parisian-meets-gypsy look.
Whimsical Wonderland on Wheels
My favourite way to explore a new city? By train, of course! Not just any train, mind youā¦ a quaint, old-fashioned carriage with red velvet seats and a view thatās worth a thousand photos. I just had to try this unique transport experience. You feel like youāve stepped straight into a vintage fairytale ā just waiting for a handsome prince to pop in with a bouquet of roses and a stolen kiss!
(Don't worry, Iām staying strong on the āno dating before Iām 30ā rule... I think? winks )
Pink Tutu in Prague: Ballet, Bohemian Charm & More!
To say Iām smitten with this city is an understatement. Iāve wandered through medieval streets, marveled at the astronomical clock in Old Town Square (who knew time could be so beautiful!), and explored hidden courtyards that feel straight out of a film set.
A Little Bit of History (Tutu Edition!)
But it wouldn't be a true Pink Tutu adventure without a bit of ballet history, right? You know how I love digging up those hidden gems of ballet and tutu facts!
Did you know, the city of Prague played a vital role in the early days of ballet? While 16th-century France often gets credit for formal ballet, Bohemia was one of the earliest regions to embrace it! Imagine, the cobbled streets of Prague once saw aristocratic dances, performances at court, and the birth of a dance form that still captures the imagination.
Tonightās performance is āSwan Lakeā which was choreographed by Marius Petipa. Did you know, Marius was part of a family lineage that has influenced the world of dance for almost two centuries? Isnāt that fascinating?!
Iām getting ready to go, though ā āSwan Lakeā calls! I'll be sure to share all my favourite moments and details with you in my next post.
Until then, keep dancing, keep dreaming, and may your days be filled with the grace and wonder of ballet!
XOXO Emma
