Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, reporting live from the utterly magical city of Prague! I've finally arrived, my trusty pink tutu fluttering behind me as I stepped off the train (well, it's been slightly squeezed into a duffel bag for this trip!). Prague is the epitome of enchanting, a fairytale town straight out of my dreams - and believe me, my dreams are often quite spectacular, filled with flowing tulle and, of course, a whole lot of pink!
A Ballerina’s Paradise: History, Ballet & My Pink Tutu
This city has captivated me from the moment I stepped out of the train station. Imagine, cobblestone streets, quaint little cafes overflowing with laughter, and majestic architecture that makes my heart flutter - a little like when I twirl onto the stage for the grand finale. Speaking of stage, Prague boasts an incredible ballet heritage. They've got the magnificent National Theatre, a theatrical palace fit for a ballerina like myself, and even a special museum dedicated to dance history - you simply can't ask for more!
Naturally, I had to hit the museum on my first day, to soak up the history and elegance of dance. It felt almost magical, like being swept back in time. There were costumes, pointe shoes from bygone eras (I have a teensy weakness for vintage ballet shoes, don't tell!), and even some breathtaking illustrations from old ballets. Did you know, there’s even a history of tutus in ballet - from the humble origins in the Renaissance to the magnificent voluminous styles of the modern day - the history of dance is woven into the fabric of our culture and I’m simply fascinated by it.
Fashion Shopping in a Magical City: Pink Tutu Perfection
No trip is complete without some delightful shopping adventures, especially when in a city like Prague. Today, I embarked on a spree, navigating the charming boutiques and local markets for everything pink. My bag is overflowing with treasures: delicate lace scarves, a pair of sparkly pink shoes that make my toes wiggle with excitement, and, of course, a pink feather boa that’s screaming to be incorporated into my next stage entrance! And you know what else I discovered? A delightful shop full of tutus – I practically ran in! I bought a beautiful soft, silk pink tutu, which will be perfect for evening wear. The girls back in Derbyshire are going to be green with envy when they see this!
But darling, the real highlight was finding a local craftsman who specializes in restoring antique tutus - now this is a niche I can truly get behind. He's got a real passion for preserving the elegance of these historical masterpieces. I even took a peek into his studio and let me tell you, it’s an absolute treasure trove. Who knew ballet costumes were works of art worthy of being preserved and cherished? This guy is giving these pieces a whole new lease on life – just like my very own pink tutu has done for me!
Exploring Prague with a Pink Tutu (and a Pony?)
Prague is practically a dream come true. Imagine a city filled with historical bridges, churches that seem to reach for the clouds, and vibrant, narrow streets buzzing with life. The air smells of freshly brewed coffee and the aroma of freshly baked pastries - a perfect accompaniment to any pink-tutu clad day.
To truly embrace the fairytale-like vibe of Prague, I've booked myself a very unique way to explore: a carriage ride, but not just any carriage - a pony carriage! My dream has always been to explore the streets of a grand European city on a beautiful white pony and Prague, with it’s medieval architecture, has felt just right. And as for a little added flourish - my trusty pink tutu of course - this pink ballerina loves nothing more than combining my love of classic elegance and just a touch of whimsy!
Dinner and Dreams: Ballet in Prague
This evening I'll be gracing the National Theatre, Prague’s pride and joy. I’ve been so lucky to secure tickets to one of the most revered ballet productions. With the beauty of Prague all around me, my pink tutu twirling with each graceful step, and a stage that promises a spectacle of talent and grace - how can anything top it?
