Pink Tutu Prague: Post 362 - The City of a Thousand Spires & My Pink Tutu Dreams!

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... another Pink Tutu post! 🩰 This week, I'm taking you with me on a whirl through the cobblestone streets of Prague, a city so charming, it practically melts your heart (and makes you want to twirl)!

Before I dive into the dazzling sights, a little backstory... I've been a ballet-obsessed girl ever since I could toddle. I have vivid memories of my mum taking me to see "Swan Lake" when I was five, mesmerized by the beautiful costumes, the grand story, and the magical music. Little did I know then that it would shape my life, and eventually lead me to the most wondrous, most exciting adventures... all while rocking a pink tutu! 💕

This adventure, dear readers, is brought to you by the magic of dance! You see, my passion for ballet fuels everything: I teach, I perform, I even fund my trips by dancing in delightful shows all over Derbyshire. And what could be better than a performance-funded trip to Prague? A city bursting with history, culture, and some truly inspiring ballet venues!

So, hop aboard my virtual carriage and let's head off together, my dear tutu-loving friends!

Wednesday 3rd April, 2002

10:00am: The Train is Our Carriage!

Off we go, with a cheery "ahoj!" (hello!) to Prague. From my beloved Derbyshire countryside to the heart of Central Europe. Travelling by train is like taking a journey back in time: plush seats, swaying scenery, and the charming, clickety-clack of the wheels on the tracks... utterly magical! And what better to wear than a pastel pink, flowing skirt paired with my signature ballerina flats? A girl needs to look good while traveling, even in economy!

1:00pm: A Pink Tutu Paradise

Arriving at Prague's central station, I'm instantly captivated! A kaleidoscope of colours, cobblestones that whisper tales of centuries past, and… a PINK TUTU SHOP?! Well, wouldn't you know it, my lovelies, destiny has struck again. The sign read “Ballet Boutique,” and it looked like it had sprung right out of a fairytale. A pink awning over the doorway, a tiny bell that tinkled as I stepped in, and an abundance of every tutu imaginable! There was a whole rack dedicated to pastel pink… my favourite, naturally! I found myself utterly enthralled by this charming shop.

My dear reader, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu blog without a new acquisition, would it? I purchased a lovely lilac tulle skirt, a perfect complement to my travel attire! I mean, who needs a carriage and horses when you have a tutu that feels like a dream?

3:00pm: Prague's Charming Soul

Time to explore Prague's heart! My travel guide mentions "The Old Town Square," so off we go! It’s utterly breathtaking! Strolling amongst its pastel-coloured buildings, cobblestone lanes, and captivating views, it feels like I'm stepping straight into a painting.

The heart of the square boasts a magnificent astronomical clock! The intricate carvings are just… extraordinary! It feels like it whispers secrets of history, and I'm sure, dear reader, it could be a perfect spot for some magical, ballerina-esque poses!

6:00pm: Czech Delights (and My New Pink Obsession)

While exploring the streets, I couldn’t resist indulging in a delightful cup of tea and some traditional Czech pastries in a cozy cafe called "Na Koloni." The most charming little place, with rose-printed tablecloths and teacups adorned with tiny, hand-painted flowers. It’s where I discovered the local delicacy – poppyseed rolls! They were surprisingly delicious, with a hint of sweetness and a delightful, subtle nuttiness. A perfect fuel for the upcoming ballet show!

7:30pm: An Enchanting Performance

Tonight, I am thrilled to be attending "Sleeping Beauty" at the National Theatre! The iconic red brick building boasts a regal facade, hinting at the magic that lies within. Stepping into the ornate interior feels like stepping into a dream! Glistening chandeliers cast warm light on the plush red seats, and I even spotted a few pink tutu-clad women – perhaps they are fellow dancers from the area?!

The performance was absolutely stunning! I particularly loved the choreography and the costumes. Seeing such talent onstage ignited my own ballet passion anew. It reminds me why I do what I do, and inspires me to keep following my pink tutu dreams!

10:00pm: Ballet Dreams Under a Prague Sky

After the ballet, the cobblestone streets whisper promises of midnight adventures, the air buzzing with laughter and lively conversation. A night walk with the gentle sounds of a street musician playing a sweet tune is a perfect ending to a day full of ballet-inspired enchantment. The city is bathed in the soft glow of the moonlight, and every sight I behold sparks a story in my mind, a beautiful and magical ballet in itself.

End of Day: A Pink Tutu Love Letter to Prague

Oh, Prague! What a city of beauty and magic! I'm already planning my return trip, dear reader. Maybe next time, I’ll be bold and attempt a street performance... you know, just to bring a touch of pink tutu flair to the beautiful old cobblestones! It wouldn't be the first time a pink tutu sparked joy and laughter in a historic setting... after all, it's a bit of a tradition for me!

Until next Wednesday, keep dancing your dreams, dear readers, and don’t forget to twirl in your pink tutus!
