Prague: Where the Pink Tutu Takes Flight (Blog Post #365)

Hello darlings! Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad traveller, bringing you all the fabulousness from Prague, a city as captivating as a ballerina in mid-flight.

This Wednesday, my weekly pilgrimage to www.pink-tutu.com takes me to the enchanting cobbled streets of Prague, where the scent of goulash and the echo of laughter weave their way through the bustling markets and vibrant squares.

You see, dear readers, the pink tutu, as you all know, isn't just about fashion. It's about a state of mind, a feeling, a whisper of magic. And where better to feel this magic than in a city that whispers its own unique blend of romance, history, and captivating culture?

I've always believed in taking the scenic route, so I boarded a train in Derbyshire, England (yes, I'm a proper country girl at heart!), and travelled for 15 hours, enveloped in the gentle rocking motion of the carriages, enjoying the journey as much as the destination. You see, darlings, a long train ride is a wonderful opportunity to contemplate the elegance of a flowing tutu, to dream of future performances, and to hatch new plans for the next stage of my pink-tutu adventure.

I arrived in Prague, brimming with excitement and clutching my travel companion, a beautifully embroidered pink tutu bag stuffed with my ballet essentials (always important, you see, even when on holiday!). My first impression was of a fairytale world, with spires reaching for the sky and a soft blush of light kissing the aged stone buildings. I practically floated out of the train station, my pink tulle swishing in the breeze, feeling like a heroine stepping out of a beloved novel.

Naturally, I spent the afternoon indulging in a quintessential Prague tradition – a visit to a bustling market. The stalls overflowing with Bohemian glassware, delicate porcelain dolls, and vibrant knitted hats, felt like a scene straight out of a Czech folk tale. It’s a treat for the senses, this city! But let's face it, shopping for fabulous accessories is what really gets me going, especially when the options are as tempting as a perfectly executed pirouette.

Pink Tutu Style in the City of Hundred Spires

Naturally, darling, my first priority was to find a local boutique to purchase a new addition to my tutu collection. You see, I always believe that no wardrobe is complete without a stunning selection of tutus, ready to be whisked off the hanger at a moment's notice. This time, my prize was a blush pink tulle number with delicate hand-stitched embellishments, perfect for a whimsical evening stroll across the Charles Bridge.

It was time to truly indulge in Prague's romantic allure, and so I went for a walk. Walking along the cobbled lanes, admiring the ancient architecture, stopping to chat with local artists selling their work in vibrant hues of pink, green and blue, it felt as if the city itself was a masterpiece of art. It felt a bit like one of those fantastical worlds imagined by the artists who created those elaborate, beautiful backdrops for famous ballets like Swan Lake.

Ballet Under the Bohemian Stars

Speaking of ballet, my dearest readers, the real highlight of my Prague trip had to be the 24th of April 2002, at the exquisite National Theatre, where I watched a performance of the timeless classic Swan Lake. The theatre was breathtaking, with intricate gold carvings and crimson velvet seats, an opulent stage set perfect for ballet's romantic grandeur. The ballerina’s graceful movements, the melancholic strains of the Tchaikovsky music, it truly was a night of magic, every moment a perfect tableau.

You know, watching such a beautiful ballet performance made me realise how deeply intertwined the arts are. Each artform enhances the other. Music, fashion, design, architecture, even a well-made cup of coffee - each element is a brushstroke on the canvas of a perfect life. The theatre, I realised, wasn’t just a place for storytelling; it was a vessel for inspiration, where art transforms from something intangible to something tangible and magnificent, leaving its indelible mark on the soul.

Riding Through Prague in a Pony-Drawn Carriage

No visit to Prague is complete without experiencing its picturesque charm from a unique vantage point - a pony-drawn carriage! Now, some might say, "Isn't a carriage rather unfashionable?" But, darlings, think of the elegant sway of the carriage, the gentle clopping of hooves, the soft murmur of the pony. Is that not reminiscent of the gentle rise and fall of a ballerina’s posture as she steps across the stage, as delicate and enchanting as a fleeting memory? Besides, my pony, who looked remarkably well-dressed for his work (even he sported a little pink ribbon!) seemed to appreciate the pink tulle fluttering near his tail as we passed through Old Town Square.

The day ended with a warm cup of herbal tea in a cozy cafe overlooking the twinkling lights of the Charles Bridge, a delightful symphony of sounds and aromas filling the air. Prague truly is a place for daydreams, a place for dreams, where pink tutus seem perfectly at home amidst its enchanting tapestry of sights, sounds and stories.

Stay tuned next Wednesday for another blog post as I explore the breathtaking Czech countryside on a little pink-tutu-themed journey with a touch of magical fairytale charm! Remember darlings, you don’t need to be a ballerina to wear a pink tutu. Let's make the world a little more magical, one tutu at a time.

See you next Wednesday!

Love, Emma xoxo
