Pink Tutu Prague - Post #381: Whirlwind of Beauty and Buns! 🩰💖

Bonjour mes amis!

It’s Wednesday, which means a fresh Pink Tutu Prague blog post for your viewing pleasure! 🌺 As you know, I'm all about the ballet, the tutus, the travel and the twirling, so grab a cuppa and join me on this delightful adventure.

A Derbyshire Lass in Prague

This week, my journey took me to the magical city of Prague! Arriving by train, the quaint, cobbled streets and breathtaking architecture had me feeling like I’d stepped into a fairytale. Prague is like a beautiful painting, with charming pastel colours and intricate details that draw you in. My heart was set aflutter, and of course, my pink tutu felt very much at home in this whimsical environment!

I’m not just here to admire the beauty of the city; this week, Prague is playing host to the prestigious International Ballet Festival, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world! Ballet is truly my passion - and I’ve been training since I was a little girl in Derbyshire. I often travel to different countries to experience the incredible artistry of world-renowned ballet dancers. There’s nothing quite like seeing the graceful movements, the elegant costumes and the breathtaking choreography live, under the stage lights! It’s a spectacle that fills me with awe and joy every time.

The Grand Opening of the Ballet Festival

Tonight, the International Ballet Festival is kicking off in style with a grand opening ceremony. It was an unforgettable spectacle! There were a hundred beautiful, professional dancers in various tutus - each more gorgeous than the last! - all twirling and leaping to a fantastic selection of classical music. Even the stage design was stunning - so very theatrical! I loved every minute of it, and as for the atmosphere… the energy was electric. The entire audience was completely mesmerised by the performances. The applause was deafening!

A Dance through the Ages: Tutu Tales

The best thing about this festival? It isn’t limited to traditional classical ballet! There are workshops, demonstrations, lectures, exhibitions, even a special screening of a silent ballet movie. There's something for everyone - no matter your dance experience!

Now, let’s talk tutus. Oh, I’m absolutely delighted! The festival even has a fabulous exhibition dedicated to the evolution of the tutu. Imagine, hundreds of years of tutu history - from the elegant, long tutus of the Romantic Era to the flamboyant, layered tutus of the late 19th century, right up to the more modern and minimalist tutus we see on stage today. It's absolutely fascinating to see the creative expressions and changing trends throughout the centuries. I must confess, it has inspired me to take my own tutu-making skills to the next level! Perhaps a modern take on a Romantic tutu with a sprinkle of 19th-century flair? Just wait until you see it!

Finding my Inner Bohemian

Beyond ballet, Prague itself has so much to offer! I’ve been spending my time exploring its cobblestone streets and discovering its hidden treasures. I’ve wandered through its ancient synagogues, each one with its unique story, and gazed in awe at Prague Castle, standing high above the city with its history dating back to the 9th century! I even went on a delightful horse-drawn carriage ride through the old town - and naturally, I found a perfect pink outfit to match the occasion!

A Parisian Dream in Prague

I must confess, I love a bit of shopping, and Prague has not disappointed. There are so many beautiful boutiques, especially along the beautiful riverside - such charming little places! Yesterday, I found a magnificent vintage dress in a lovely boutique in Old Town. A classic, flowing design with beautiful floral embroidery… a true Bohemian treasure, it reminds me of the streets of Paris. It was perfect for a day spent strolling around the city, admiring the colourful architecture, stopping for some delightful Prague coffee (my latest discovery!), and indulging in delicious Czech pastry - a must for any sweet-toothed ballerina like myself!

Evening Under the Stars: An Unforgettable Performance

Tonight, the festival is presenting a performance by the Prague Ballet at the famed National Theatre - I can't wait to see this renowned ballet company performing! It's a show-stopper – classical ballets, such as Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake and Giselle, and the vibrant energy of contemporary pieces will definitely have my heart pounding! I imagine the venue, adorned with rich velvet curtains and dazzling chandeliers, will make the whole experience even more magical.

Travel by Train:

And now, a small word about trains. I find that a leisurely journey on a comfortable train allows me to truly relax and immerse myself in the passing landscape. I spend the time lost in a book about the history of the tutu or simply gazing out the window, lost in thought about the grand performances to come. I simply adore train travel, it gives me a sense of adventure and allows me to experience the true rhythm of a destination, all without rushing!

Ballet, Beauty, and Big Dreams

So there you have it - a whirlwind of ballet, beauty, and blissful adventures in Prague! This city has truly captured my heart with its history, artistry, and enchanting atmosphere. And let’s not forget my little bit of ballet magic - seeing the incredible talent of the world's dancers is inspiring. I hope that my passion for the ballet is inspiring, and who knows? Perhaps it'll inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and explore a new city, learn a new skill, or embrace a newfound passion.

Remember, dear friends, life is meant to be enjoyed, to be savoured, to be twirled! And if you ever find yourself in a bustling city like Prague, let your pink tutu take the lead! 🩰 💖

Until next Wednesday!

Love and tutus,

Emma
