Prague Calling! šŸ’–šŸ©°

Wednesday 23rd April 2003

Post Number 417

Bonjour, my darlings! This is Emma, writing to you live from Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires! As you know, Iā€™m a bit of a history buff and Prague just tickles my fancy when it comes to ancient castles, charming cobbled streets, and glorious, grand architecture. I mean, where else can you find a city so rich in history, art, and culture all rolled into one perfectly pink tutu-worthy package?

It feels a bit surreal to be here in this magical place, the place where it all began, really! I mean, the Prague Ballet is so revered around the world, and here I am, breathing in the same air as the legends, stepping onto the very same streets, gazing at the very same spires that have inspired generations of dancers. It's giving me goosebumps just thinking about it!

As soon as I got here, I just knew I had to don my most vibrant pink tutu for a proper photoshoot in the city's beautiful old town square. Can you picture it? Me, twirling under the shadow of the astronomical clock, the cobblestone streets shimmering with reflections of the Prague sun, and a whimsical backdrop of candy-coloured buildings that have been here for centuries. I absolutely adore capturing that classic 'ballet meets historic architecture' look.

You canā€™t possibly come to Prague and not visit the stunning National Theatre, my dears. I felt like I was stepping into a fairy tale, and the whole experience made my heart dance! And you know I had to snag a picture with my signature pink tutu in front of the grand building! It looked like something straight out of a magazine spread - chic, stylish and absolutely perfectly pink!

The highlight of my Prague visit, though? Definitely the Prague Ballet. Oh my! Tonight, I saw a performance of ā€œThe Nutcrackerā€ and my head nearly exploded with all the amazingness. From the vibrant costumes, the elegant dancers, the stirring music, to the mesmerising storytelling - I couldnā€™t have been more enthralled!

Itā€™s one of my favourite ballets because it is such a heartwarming story that brings so much magic. You've got the enchanting, festive atmosphere, the whimsical Sugarplum Fairy, and the heart-stopping leaps and twirls of the dancers - It was absolutely phenomenal! The dancing was on a whole other level. I honestly think I have a new obsession ā€“ those ballerinas, they were magnificent, effortlessly gliding through the air!

I can tell you Iā€™m so incredibly grateful to be living out this ballet dream, doing what I love, travelling, seeing the world and experiencing ballet everywhere I go. This week, Iā€™ve spent hours lost in the Prague Ballet museum. The history of the artform just enthralls me! It's amazing to see how ballet has evolved throughout the centuries.

And of course, I made sure to check out the National Theatre's costume shop. (Spoiler alert - it was totally my kind of pink paradise! They even had some vintage tutu gems that made me scream with joy!). You know I had to grab a few souvenirs. Youā€™ll see a full fashion haul on next weekā€™s blog!

Speaking of which, Iā€™ve also fallen completely head over heels with this adorable local cafe - itā€™s called the ā€œPink Poodleā€! Their hot pink exterior, pastel floral patterns, and ā€œtea for twoā€ setting was a real highlight of my time in Prague, and a must-visit if you come to the city. Of course, the dainty pink cakes were even more perfect.

Letā€™s just say itā€™s not just Pragueā€™s magical streets and historical architecture that is taking my breath awayā€¦the delectable sweet treats here have my tastebuds singing too!

Prague, Iā€™m in love! And honestly, I can't wait for next week's adventure! Keep those tutus twirling!

Emma xoxo

P.S. Did I mention my newest mission to inspire more and more people to wear pink tutus? Itā€™s like a beautiful, sparkly little dream I want to spread all across the world. Pink tutus: so chic, so adorable, so stylish, so fun!

Outfit Diaries: The Prague Edition!

Of course, I packed several of my favourite pink tutus for my Prague escapade! (Isn't it great when theyā€™re all perfect travel buddies?!). The one I wore to see "The Nutcracker" was a soft, dreamy pink silk number that I just adore! It had all the sparkle and charm needed to really feel magical! Youā€™ll have to wait for the next post to see all the incredible fashion finds Iā€™ve gathered while I'm here - Iā€™ll definitely be posting a complete fashion haul when I get home. I know you wonā€™t be disappointed!

How To See Prague Like A True Ballerina:

Feeling inspired to pack your own pink tutu and take a trip to Prague? Here's a sneak peek of my little Prague itinerary, in case you need some inspiration!

  • The Astronomical Clock: This is a must-see for any traveller to Prague! Make sure to catch the clock show.
  • Charles Bridge: You've got to walk across this historical bridge! Be sure to capture that "ballet meets history" shot that will have your friends gasping in envy!
  • The National Theatre: Absolutely gorgeous and full of character. This oneā€™s definitely going on my "places to dance in front ofā€ list!
  • The Prague Ballet Museum: An absolute must for any ballet aficionado! The exhibition was phenomenal and so well presented - they even had a fabulous collection of old, historical ballet costumes.
  • St Vitus Cathedral: A truly remarkable church - breathtaking.
  • Prague Castle: Just a stunning site - be sure to take lots of pics with a view of the city.
  • The Old Town Square: The ultimate spot for getting a great Prague photo opportunity. I made sure to pose my favourite pink tutu right here!
  • ā€œThe Pink Poodle" Cafe: Where else in the world could you find a cafe that is actually perfectly pink?

And remember, when travelling, always embrace the beauty of the world, be confident, dance, and always choose your outfits with the utmost elegance!

I've always loved history, but Prague took my love for the past to a whole new level! Every street corner whispered stories, every building spoke of its past, every bridge offered a view that took me back to a time when ballet was taking its very first steps! It was just magical!

Oh, and by the way, did you see my beautiful horse?! I managed to get the most charming horse and carriage ride, which took me right through the centre of Prague. If you want to really channel your inner ballerina in Prague, and feel like royalty, a carriage ride is a must!

Until next week, my lovely friends, Iā€™m signing off with a heartfelt ā€œbonjour" from this truly enchanting city! Iā€™ll be sure to fill you in with all my travel tales next week.

Keep those tutus twirling! šŸ’–
