Prague: Where Pink Tutues Dance! 🩰

Post #418 | Wednesday, April 30th, 2003 | www.pink-tutu.com

Hello lovelies! It's Emma, back from the beautiful, bustling, and breathtakingly romantic Prague! This city stole my heart - not just with its architectural marvels and cobbled streets, but also with its vibrant ballet scene. And of course, you know me, pink tutues had a starring role in my Prague adventure.

This week's blog is bursting with all things Prague, from the charming, pastel-coloured houses and historic squares, to the exhilarating ballet performances and enchanting opera houses.

Let me take you on a trip down memory lane, to my little pink tutu corner of the world, and tell you all about my recent Prague escapades...

Arriving in Style:

The train journey to Prague was pure magic. After a short (and wonderfully scenic!) ride from Derbyshire, I found myself captivated by the vast, ever-changing landscapes, gliding by the carriage window. I felt like I was in a storybook!

To be honest, my train travels are rarely just train journeys. They're an opportunity to showcase my very favourite piece of luggage - my vintage, pink velvet suitcase with an adorable matching pink-tutu adorned handbag. I just couldn't resist taking a quick little photo-shoot at the station in my pink ballerina dress, a vision in pink perfection before embarking on my journey to Prague.

Of course, no outfit is complete without my favourite pink ballerina pumps. These delicate beauties twirled along with me, a touch of whimsy on the otherwise mundane station platform.

Prague, You're So Pretty:

My heart skipped a beat as I stepped off the train into Prague's magical Old Town Square. It was straight out of a fairytale! Golden spires kissed the sky, colourful Baroque buildings jostled for attention, and street performers filled the air with laughter and music. I even saw a group of street dancers, their energetic steps drawing gasps of admiration from the crowd.

Every corner was a picture perfect moment waiting to be captured. The intricate details on every building, from gargoyles to stained glass, felt like secrets whispering to me from a bygone era. I fell instantly in love with the romantic charm of Prague, especially when I discovered the most adorable little shops lining the cobblestone streets, full of pink and sparkly accessories. My inner-shopaholic went into overdrive!

Prague Ballet, a Magical Treat:

And then, the moment I'd been waiting for… The ballet.

Prague boasts a world-renowned ballet tradition, with a captivating and captivating repertoire that brings international acclaim. So naturally, I had to take in a performance! I headed to the famed Prague National Theatre. This magnificent theatre is a grand, yet elegant masterpiece, built right beside the Vltava River.

I was blown away by the opulence of the theatre and the captivating energy that seemed to thrum through the air. This feeling of artistic intensity was enhanced by the gorgeous surroundings - think velvet-draped balconies, opulent chandeliers and gilded mirrors, which just seemed to radiate a dazzling magic. I can only imagine the joy that past patrons must have experienced watching their favourite productions in this magnificent setting.

This evening's show was “The Sleeping Beauty”. And it was absolute perfection! As the story unfolded, the ballerina's grace, the elegant movements of the corps de ballet and the mesmerising music took me away on a journey of enchantment. Each graceful pirouette, every soaring leap and every heart-wrenching scene seemed to breathe life into the classic fairytale.

The Tutu Connection:

Did I mention the tutus? Oh, my darlings, the tutus were heavenly. From the intricately layered skirts of the princesses, to the playful poufs worn by the fairies, the tutus in this show were everything I dreamt of and more. It was a tutu-lover's paradise! Each dancer in their pink and white tutu was the picture of ethereal elegance, graceful, majestic and exquisite.

I especially loved the pink tulle on the principal dancer, the softness and delicacy of it really stole the show. And as I watched her float across the stage in that perfect shade of pink, I couldn't help but wonder if even princesses in their magical castles would dream of such elegance.

A Tutu of Memories:

My Prague trip was filled with so much wonder. I couldn't resist snapping pictures of everything, from the graceful ballet dancers in their perfect pink tutus, to the dazzling architectural wonders that seem to echo with history, from the pink candies that are sold by street vendors in little glass boxes, to the dainty little cups of frothy latte I had as I admired the city.

It truly was the most wonderful escape - I soaked it all in with joy! I felt as if I was living in a whimsical story, every moment perfectly captured in my heart.

Prague was everything I hoped it would be. It was a ballet dream come true, an inspiration for every budding dancer.

My trip reminded me that beauty truly comes in every shape and form, from graceful dancers to sparkling cobbled streets and breathtaking buildings - each adding their own unique and magical element to Prague's special charm.

Of course, my journey to Prague couldn’t end without me leaving with a pink, tulle inspired souvenir to remind me of this magical experience.

I even discovered a wonderful boutique just steps from my hotel - called “Le Petit Tutu.” It's owned by the sweetest lady with sparkling eyes who is the most passionate ballerina. Her shop is full of handmade tutus in all sorts of beautiful colours, each with a little heart sewn in - a little token of good luck that represents “a little piece of tutu love.”

Well, darling readers, you can already imagine my delight when I found a pink ballerina dress hidden in a corner. You already know what happened next... I simply HAD to bring it home with me. I can't wait to twirl in it and create even more pink tutu magic!

This beautiful and elegant dress was such a special gift from Prague. And it will be a delightful reminder of my trip to a city that stole my heart and danced with my soul.

But I'll be back, Prague, don't you worry. I'm already dreaming up more ballerina escapades in this beautiful city and can’t wait to see what new experiences and magical moments await!

And until next time, darlings, may your tutus always twirl and your hearts dance!

Your pink tutu-loving friend,

Emma 🩰

*P.S. Stay tuned for the next post. It’s all about tutus in France! Oh là là! It’s gonna be magical! *
