Prague, My Love! ππ©° (Post #430)
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the most beautiful city in the world: Prague! I know, I know, everyone has their favourite city, but Prague truly stole my heart. This week's post is dedicated to the fabulous ballet scene I discovered there, as well as my latest tutu adventures!
As always, I took the train, of course. The journey was pure enchantment! I'd booked a first-class compartment and treated myself to a scrumptious picnic lunch - smoked salmon, cucumber sandwiches, and a pink sparkling drink. TrΓ¨s chic, darling! π₯
The scenery outside my window was a blur of emerald green fields and quaint villages. It's so lovely to leave the hustle and bustle of city life behind, even if just for a little while.
Once in Prague, I had to experience the iconic Charles Bridge, the magnificent Prague Castle, and of course, indulge in some delightful shopping. Speaking of which, I found the most exquisite antique pink velvet tutu in an adorable little shop tucked away in a cobbled street. It was love at first sight! ππ I just couldn't leave without it. It's perfect for my next performance at the Derbyshire County Show, which I am, of course, absolutely thrilled about!
But enough about shopping, let's get down to the business of ballet, shall we? This trip was all about the ballet, darling! My reason for visiting Prague? Well, let me tell you, I stumbled upon a listing in an old ballet magazine (my favourite reading material, naturally!), a ballet production taking place right here in Prague! It was simply destiny!
The Czech National Ballet: I knew I had to see a performance by this world-renowned company! It was at the historic National Theatre. Can you imagine, darling? It's just over 150 years old! A place where the legends of the ballet world have graced the stage. And me? I was standing in that very spot, surrounded by history and glamour!
I managed to snag tickets to their performance of "Giselle" on 23rd July. The dancing was simply sublime, the costumes exquisite, the set design... breathtaking! And oh, the emotion! The tragic tale of Giselle's love for a man who turns out to be a disguised nobleman, and the heart-wrenching death of the innocent maiden - I cried! π
I can't stress enough how important seeing live ballet is, darlings! It's not just about the beautiful dance movements or the glamorous costumes - it's about the passion, the emotions, the stories brought to life right before your eyes.
Behind the Curtain: The company allows glimpses into their practice studios and rehearsals, a true ballet-lover's paradise! There I was, surrounded by talented dancers, graceful, powerful, and dedicated. And even they were sporting my beloved colour pink in their stylish rehearsal wear! π Itβs inspiring, darling!
Tutus Then and Now: Prague also boasts a wonderful ballet museum! It was an absolute delight to spend a day there, learning about the history of ballet and its glorious costumes! Of course, tutus stole the show. I found out that tutus are actually older than you'd think. It's said the earliest "tutued" performance was in "La Sylphide" in 1832! I'd love to see the vintage tutus on display in the museum. And the museum also houses fascinating artifacts of famous ballerinas, their handwritten notes, their old performance costumes! What an absolute delight for any ballet lover!
Pink Tutus in Prague: It was the dreamiest day in Prague! Imagine strolling along the cobblestone streets with my vintage pink tutu in a delightful shopping bag, my hair up in a romantic braid adorned with a delicate pink bow! The setting sun casting a soft pink glow on the city... perfection! I mean, you can't really have too much pink in your life, can you? ππ
A Tutu-Filled Weekend: After an exquisite dinner of pork schnitzel and Czech dumplings (which, you must know, I ordered with a side of pink sauce!) in a charming restaurant overlooking the Vltava River, I went out for a relaxing stroll along the riverbank. Of course, my little pink vintage tutu bag was slung over my shoulder. And I could feel the envious glances from other tourists, haha!
I am still head over heels in love with Prague. From the fairytale charm of its streets to the world-class ballet and the absolutely delicious pink desserts, it's truly a city that leaves you feeling giddy! I can't wait to return someday and experience it all again.
Now, my dearest readers, what are your thoughts? What ballet should I see next? Where should I travel?
I'm always looking for recommendations and tips from fellow pink tutu lovers! Share your adventures in the comments below, darling. And until next week's post, remember to keep spreading the pink tutu love! π
Your always fashionable,
Emma
