Prague, Oh Prague, You're the Fairest of Them All! (Pink Tutu Prague Blog, Post #433)

Hello my dearest tutu-loving friends! It’s Wednesday, so that means a brand-new post from yours truly, Emma, your very own pink tutu-wearing travel blogger. This week I’m in Prague, and let me tell you, it’s everything I imagined and more! Think cobbled streets, fairy-tale architecture, and enough history to make your head spin (in a good way, of course).

Prague, or Praha, to the locals, is absolutely enchanting. I even went as far as to take a spin around the Old Town Square wearing a magnificent, full-length pink tulle tutu – perfect for the old world charm. Every snap I took looked like a scene out of a classic fairytale. I just couldn’t resist!

Now, some of you might be thinking, “Emma, how on earth do you afford to travel like this?!” Well, dear friends, my secret is my love of all things dance! I support myself through a blend of ballet performances (my specialty is the captivating Swan Lake) and my fabulous blog, of course. It's my way of sharing my love for dancing and all things beautiful with the world, one pink tutu at a time.

But let's rewind a bit. I’ve got to share with you the sheer delight of getting to Prague itself. I arrived by train – my preferred mode of travel for a truly romantic, old-fashioned experience. The landscape was breathtaking, with fields of sunflowers nodding their sunny heads and quaint little villages flitting past the window. It’s these journeys that truly inspire me. The swaying of the train, the gentle rhythm of the tracks – it’s a graceful dance in its own right!

Fashion & Prague: A Perfect Match

My Prague fashion choices have been a whimsical explosion of pink, of course! It just goes without saying. I've been pairing my darling tutus with lace blouses, floaty skirts, and a sprinkling of antique jewellery that catches the Prague sunshine like glittering fairy dust. Let’s just say I'm turning heads and spreading my pink tutu message across the city!

A Touch of Ballet History in Prague

I’ve been scouring Prague for its ballet history. This charming city has a fascinating story to tell in the world of dance! Did you know that one of the very first ballet schools opened in Prague? It was founded by AntonĂn Böhml in the 18th century! It's such a delight to know that the art form we adore today was thriving here all those years ago. I imagine tutus twirling in Prague back then, maybe even the very same colour pink as mine.

The National Theatre here, with its stunning Art Nouveau architecture, has a special place in my heart. You can just picture the dazzling performances, the elegance of the ballerinas, the orchestra playing the most enchanting music
It's a place where dreams take flight, much like the wings of a dancer!

I had to visit the Dance Gallery too! This quirky museum boasts a treasure trove of ballet memorabilia, costumes from various periods, and incredible photographs. They have these beautiful old dance programs from the 19th century with detailed descriptions of the costumes and music. I even saw a few charming little drawings of ballerinas with their tutus – they were quite petite in comparison to today’s grand tutus!

The Food! The Fashion! The Flair!

Now, no trip to Prague is complete without indulging in the local cuisine! Oh my, those sweet pastries and heavenly cakes
and let’s not forget the traditional Czech beer! The beer here has a unique, nutty, almost malty taste - truly delicious. It's like drinking history!

Prague has an extraordinary flair about it. It's a city full of quirky independent shops, vintage boutiques, and artisan cafes where the aroma of roasted coffee beans blends with the murmur of chatter. And of course, no fashionista would ever pass up the chance to discover hidden fashion treasures! I have managed to add to my ever-expanding pink tutu collection, as well as several stunning silk scarves and a magnificent pair of handmade Prague earrings.

A Day at the Opera

Today, August 13th, 2003, is going to be truly special! The opera is putting on a special performance of ‘La Traviata’, one of my all-time favourite operas! The passionate story of love and loss told through stunning melodies – a perfect combination of beauty, heartbreak, and artistry. I can’t wait to see how the exquisite costumes and breathtaking choreography breathe life into the tale. I know it will be an evening I won’t forget. (If you’re thinking what I'm thinking, yes, a pink tutu will be involved! 😉).

And that's all, folks!

I hope this blog post has taken you right into the heart of Prague with me. Don't forget to share your travel stories with me – especially those moments where you felt the most adventurous, the most joyous, and most importantly, the most pink! I can't wait to hear about all of your own experiences.

Until next week, keep those pink tutus twirling!

Love,

Emma
