Prague's Pink Promise: A Tutu-ful Adventure!

#481 - Wednesday, 14 July 2004

Hello darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, and I’m absolutely delighted to be whisking you off on another adventure! This week, we’re swapping the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the cobblestone streets of Prague!

I must say, travelling by train has a certain charm, especially when you’re rocking a perfectly pink tulle masterpiece and a little polka dot vintage hat to match. As the countryside blurred into the horizon, I found myself lost in dreams of waltzing across the Prague Dance Conservatory stage. Oh, wouldn't that be a sight to behold? Imagine: cobblestones echoing with the click-clack of my ballet slippers, the air thick with anticipation, and all eyes glued to my delicate pirouettes in the soft glow of the spotlight!

And who knows, perhaps someday this dream will become reality! Until then, darling, I'm just going to soak up all that Prague has to offer.

A Touch of Magic

The moment I stepped off the train, a wave of magic washed over me. The historic buildings, their pastel colours blooming against the azure sky, had an ethereal quality. My heart skipped a beat. I just knew Prague was a city that would hold some truly wonderful surprises. And she did!

From the minute I settled into my quaint little guesthouse (it was surprisingly roomy, darling! Just perfect for twirling!) and popped open my suitcase filled with darling tutu ensembles, it was obvious that Prague was tailor-made for pink tulle and pretty ballet adventures.

The Call of the Stage

On my first night, I couldn't resist heading to the National Theatre. They had an exquisite ballet on offer called “La Bohème.” Oh, darling! It was everything a ballet should be - full of romance, drama, and emotion. There was even a touch of heartbreak. A girl after my own heart!

Speaking of heartbreak, how could they possibly not give a single Tutu award to the incredible female lead! It felt positively unjust! Her performance was breathtaking, her movements precise, fluid, and infused with an effortless grace. I could hardly keep my eyes off her! In a dazzling red bodice that shimmered with every turn and a voluminous skirt that seemed to billow like a summer cloud, she dominated the stage with her performance. Just incredible! I’ll need to keep an eye out for her again when I'm back in London! I hear she’s playing Esmeralda in Notre Dame next month… Oh darling, imagine! A Parisian escapade with more exquisite dance! I'm positively tingling with excitement!

Pink & Chic in Prague

But my adventure in Prague wasn't all about ballets. As much as I adore a beautiful stage performance, I am, after all, a bit of a fashionista. This charming city just begged for a shopping spree! And Prague did not disappoint!

From vintage boutiques that overflowed with stunning hats, elegant gloves, and silk scarves, to quaint antique shops filled with treasures just begging for a home, to chic clothing boutiques boasting the most amazing ballet-inspired frocks and elegant jumpsuits – I was completely and utterly enchanted! Of course, no trip is complete without a touch of whimsy, so I found myself drawn to a quirky little shop full of tutus. Every colour imaginable! I swear, darling, there were at least a dozen shades of pink! It was positively dreamy!

And naturally, I had to snag a few new pieces for myself! I discovered a darling pale pink tulle tutu with delicate flower embroidery that I simply couldn’t resist! It was almost too lovely! I'll be sure to post a photo on the site tomorrow, darlings! I think you’re going to love it!

More Than Just A Tutu

You see, dear reader, I believe everyone can have their own pink tutu moment. A moment that radiates confidence, a little sparkle, a touch of pure, joyful expression! It's about more than just the fabric, darlings; it's about the feeling it evokes.

My quest in Prague has been to not only find a new, lovely tutu or two (three! Let's be honest!), but also to soak in the magic of the city, its history, its charm. To find my own Prague ballet story.

And now, I think I've found it!

I'm going to tell you all about it in my next post! In the meantime, I shall be sipping my chamomile tea (a little Prague ritual I’ve developed), gazing at the city lights, and plotting the next steps in my Pink Tutu Prague journey.

Join me again next Wednesday, darlings, for more pink and pretty adventures!

Until then,

Stay sparkling,

Emma
