Prague, My Dearest! Post #490 - The Magic of Pink and Tutus

Wednesday, 15th September 2004

Oh, darling readers! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of my little pink corner of the internet! I'm absolutely giddy with excitement because today marks my arrival in the breathtakingly beautiful Prague! Yes, this fabulous city is my latest conquest, and I can already tell that my heart is utterly smitten.

This week, you’ll find me twirling amongst cobblestones and dancing through history. There's something so captivating about the air of old-world charm that lingers in Prague's squares and streets. Imagine: pastel-hued buildings, gothic spires piercing the sky, and bridges teeming with stories whispered across the centuries – this is a place that truly embodies a fairytale atmosphere!

And what a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a pink tutu, wouldn't you say? Now, my fellow fashionistas, prepare to be dazzled. As you all know, my motto is “a tutu a day keeps the sartorial blues away”, so of course, Prague had to witness my very best. I packed not one, not two, but three of my favourite tutus: a shimmering lilac tulle creation (perfect for a moonlight waltz!), a sunshine yellow number with a playful pompom trim (ready for a spontaneous street performance!), and my trusty cherry blossom pink tutu, guaranteed to turn heads wherever I go.

Speaking of turning heads, let me tell you, I’m absolutely in love with the style in Prague! It's a blend of traditional elegance and bohemian flair that truly speaks to my fashion-loving soul. Every shop window is a feast for the eyes, brimming with intricate lace, vintage fabrics, and bold patterns that beg to be worn. The other day, I snagged a pair of hand-painted boots at a quaint market in the Old Town square - they have these beautiful cherry blossom motifs and were made by the most lovely woman. And, of course, no Prague adventure would be complete without finding a unique vintage tutu – imagine my joy when I discovered the most delightful little boutique overflowing with delicate lace tutus and beautiful tulle from the 1950s! My wardrobe is absolutely thrilled.

Now, on to the exciting events! Today was filled with waltzes and grand jetés, or, shall I say, charming discoveries and breathtaking sights. I spent the morning exploring the Charles Bridge, a majestic structure that connects Prague's Old Town to its Lesser Town. It was absolutely bursting with artists, musicians, and vendors. One talented artist captured me in a charcoal drawing; I just couldn't resist buying it as a reminder of my first enchanting day in Prague.

And what was on the menu for this evening? Ballet, my loves! The National Theatre was a spectacle in itself – imagine ornate ceilings, plush velvet seats, and intricate carvings! The production was simply mesmerizing. "La Bayadère" brought the theatre alive with stunning costumes, graceful dances, and intricate storytelling. I was captivated from the first chord! As a self-proclaimed ballet enthusiast, this performance left me spellbound.

Now, as I snuggle into my cosy hotel room, the city's gentle glow seeping in through the window, I can't help but reflect on this wonderful journey. From my enchanting waltz with a charming local in the Old Town square to my newfound appreciation for Prague’s rich history, every moment has been nothing short of magical. This trip truly lives up to my belief that there’s magic to be found in every corner of the world, and there’s no better way to experience it than with a sprinkle of pink and a whole lot of tulle!

What’s on Today:

  • My blog, of course! (I couldn't imagine skipping this Wednesday ritual even while in Prague)
  • A stroll through the vibrant Old Town Square. This iconic square is surrounded by beautifully preserved buildings, topped with soaring towers and bursting with colourful history. I’ve heard there’s a stunning astronomical clock too!
  • A delicious dinner at a charming local restaurant, where I’m told they have the most heavenly dumplings! Prague is famous for its rich culinary tradition, and I'm eager to experience the delights.
  • Finally, a delightful and much-needed ballet class to stretch those legs and prepare for more exploring tomorrow. You can find me at Ballet Prague, they have an incredible history.

Join me next week as we explore more of this whimsical and captivating city! I'll be sharing all the secrets of Prague's hidden corners, uncovering the history of this ballet-loving nation, and of course, showcasing the most fabulous tutu looks!

Until next Wednesday, dear friends!

Yours in pink,

Emma

P.S. Remember, pink tutus are not just for the stage; they are a symbol of joyful confidence! I encourage each and every one of you to embrace your inner ballerina and spread a little pink magic in the world! After all, it's never too late to live your dreams.
