Prague Diaries: A Tutu-tastic Whirlwind in Pink (Post #496)

Hello my darlings,

It’s Wednesday, and that means a new blog post from your favourite tutu-clad traveller – yours truly, Emma! This week, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of swanning through the cobblestone streets of Prague, a city as beautiful as a ballerina’s arabesque. Let’s dive right into the pinkest adventure yet!

My journey to Prague was a whirlwind of charm and colour. A picturesque train ride through the Czech countryside painted a canvas of rolling green hills and quaint villages. It felt like something straight out of a ballet – the gentle sway of the carriages, the rhythm of the wheels clicking against the tracks, even the distant rumble of a train whistle mimicking the gentle plop of a single pointe shoe on the floor.

But you know me, I’m never one for plain train journeys! I had, of course, adorned myself in my signature style – a bubblegum pink tutu, this one with a playful swirl of lilac tulle, paired with a white crochet top that delicately embraced my shoulders. This is my way of celebrating the ballet – my life, my passion, my reason for being. And honestly, my pink tulle tutu is my ultimate travel companion – it's effortlessly stylish, yet allows me the freedom to twirl through any train station, bustling marketplace, or charming alleyway with graceful ease.

Reaching Prague was like stepping into a fairytale – its medieval architecture, with spires reaching towards the clouds and pastel-hued buildings lining narrow streets, felt as though I’d entered the set of a timeless ballet. And speaking of timelessness, have I told you about the amazing ballet history this city holds? Imagine a time when ballet in Prague was truly groundbreaking – we’re talking innovative choreography, expressive movements, and theatrical innovations that continue to influence ballet even today!

My first stop, naturally, was a charming boutique that held an enchanting selection of ballet-inspired clothing. My senses were overwhelmed – swathes of shimmering fabric in hues of pink, lilac, and soft rose, dancing in the breeze. I indulged in a silk scarf that danced around my neck like a feather boa, and a delicate pearl-encrusted hair comb that could rival any ballerina's bun adornment. I always say, you can never have too much sparkle, can you?

This week's ballet performance was a breathtaking spectacle – “The Sleeping Beauty,” a classic, romantic ballet filled with graceful elegance. I felt the music resonate through my bones as the dancers moved with such beautiful fluidity. The entire performance was an explosion of colour, with the tutus like swirling clouds against a backdrop of exquisite sets. The finale, where the princess awakens, was absolutely magical. Honestly, watching these professional dancers soar and twirl across the stage rekindled my love for the art of ballet all over again!

Later that night, I stumbled upon a delightful little ballet café - tucked away down a cobbled alleyway. They had a delicious selection of traditional Czech pastries and an array of teas with enchanting names, all served with elegant porcelain and whimsical floral teacups. I even caught a snippet of a performance – a captivating ballet dancer on a miniature stage, weaving tales of love and loss with her movements. This tiny haven was a true celebration of both ballet and Czech culture, a perfect little world where pink tutu clad dancers and fairytale stories blend effortlessly.

My days in Prague are filled with waltzing through markets, finding treasures hidden within bustling squares, and discovering charming little cafes tucked away on side streets. Prague's cobblestone alleys invite you to lose yourself in their intricate pathways, each corner a new adventure. It's almost impossible to walk without twirling, even with my ever-present, twirling-ready pink tutu.

One thing I truly love about Prague is the sheer beauty of it all. Every bridge is a breathtaking work of art, with its intricate designs and sculptures. Even the trams themselves are a vintage beauty, reminiscent of another era, a timeless elegance that mirrors the spirit of ballet. It’s as if the city itself invites you to twirl through its charming streets!

And the shopping! Oh, the shopping! From vintage shops bursting with charming antiques to boutique fashion houses that make your inner ballerina squeal with joy, this city is a shopping paradise for any sartorial soul. You might even find me sporting a brand-new, pearl-studded pink tutu from a charming shop I discovered nestled on the banks of the Vltava river.

My time in Prague, however, is far from over. Tomorrow, I’m heading to the charming countryside, where I've booked a ride on a beautiful white pony, all for a whimsical photo shoot! Imagine - the rolling hills of the Czech countryside, a delicate pastel pink tutu, a white pony as gentle as a dream – it’ll be pure magic, capturing the essence of graceful elegance!

Of course, my adventures aren’t limited to Prague. If you follow me on my blog, you know I love discovering hidden treasures in every city I visit. And when it comes to embracing ballet history, there’s no city that rivals Prague! It’s a treasure trove of inspiration for my blog and my ballet work back home.

I truly believe that every woman should embrace their inner ballerina. A pink tutu is just the start, a way to unleash your playful side and embrace the beauty and joy that dance offers. From the grace of a waltz to the delicate precision of a plié, there's something for every woman in the magic of ballet. And if you haven’t found your inner ballerina yet, a pink tutu might just be the key.

Until next week, remember to twirl and smile, my dears!

Emma xoxo
