Prague - Post #500: Pink Tutu Adventures in a Fairytale City š©°ššØšæ
Hello my darlings, and welcome to Pink Tutu Prague! This week, I'm swapping my usual Derbyshire drizzle for a bit of magical Czech charm. It's official, this is post number 500 on Pink-Tutu.com and what better place to celebrate than the heart of Europe, Prague!
This is the city that dreams are made of ā cobbled streets, towering gothic architecture, and a history so rich, itās almost bursting out of the cobblestones! And trust me, as soon as you step off the train, you'll be feeling that same fairy tale magic I'm feeling! Just the sight of Prague Castle on the hill, all those gorgeous turrets reaching for the sky, and I'm already planning out my next Instagram post, haha!
A Ballet-Loving Ballerina in Prague
I arrived in Prague on a Tuesday evening. My travels to this fairytale city began on the continent's biggest railway journey, The Orient Express, which I'm sure you've heard of. Honestly, this journey was magical! The rolling countryside, the delicious hot chocolate, the cosy compartments, it was pure luxury! As for this whole travelling ballerina thing, I have to say it's absolutely a-mazing! My travel fund is kept full with the generous applause of delighted audiences at ballet performances and my wardrobeā¦well, you just have to see the latest pink tutus Iāve found!
Prague ā The Story Beginsā¦
You guys are gonna love my first impressions, but before I delve in, you need to know how I always plan my travels!
Rule #1 - Location Scouting: Every trip has to start with some serious Instagram research! What kind of location suits the Pink Tutu lifestyle best? Well, if Iām honest, Prague totally hit the spot, it's like stepping back into time. You have those dreamy fairytale turrets of the castle and the charming old bridge that just begs for a tutu twirl!
Rule #2 ā Finding the Best Pink Tutu Outfit: A ballet-inspired outfit needs to have just the right amount of Parisian chic with a touch of modern Bohemian glamour, especially in Prague. This city is buzzing with incredible artists, musicians and a truly amazing fashion scene. That's where Prague really hit the spot with all those fabulous vintage shops, I'm so in love!
Rule #3 - Choosing a Ballerina-Friendly Hotel: Well, it wouldnāt be Pink-Tutu.com if I didnāt stay somewhere glamorous, would it? This hotel is a stunning Prague castle courtyard conversion with its own balcony - hello sunshine! Plus, they have these beautiful crystal chandeliers. My new mantra: sparkle and twirl! (and just to mention, thereās a lovely mirrored dance studio just outside, I may have already booked a private session in my pink tutu š!)
Day 1: Exploring the Prague Fairyland
Today, Prague, we explore! It's like wandering through a magical storybook with every turn, just so picturesque! I even bumped into some amazing street performers doing classical ballet pieces ā honestly, itās made me fall even more in love with this place! You know, they say ballet is the dance of the gods ā they could not be more correct in Prague.
Hereās the scoop:
*Breakfast and Bohemian Brunch at āCafĆ© Montmartreā: * We're talking coffee with crĆØme fraiche, buttery pastries and my absolute favourite ā a decadent hot chocolate with fresh whipped cream and a sprinkling of pink sprinkles, of course! It was such a fabulous start to the day!
The Golden Lane: Such charming little cobbled alleyway! It's stuffed full of the cutest little souvenir shops and cafes ā the perfect spot to pick up a keepsake to remind me of Prague!
Lunch Time ā Traditional Czech Cuisine at āThe Golden Swanā: You cannot travel to Prague without sampling a true traditional meal ā we are talking sauerkraut, sausages and a massive bowl of potato salad!
*The Dance Continuesā¦ *
And what is this evening in Prague? Well, my absolute dream - the "PinkTutuPrague" ballet performance! And get this, it's all for a great cause. āDancers For Dreamsā ā how could I possibly miss that? It's at the historic and beautiful āThe Estates Theatreā (StavovskĆ© Divadlo) which holds a special place in my heart, itās the actual building where Wolfgang Mozart premiered his opera "The Marriage of Figaro" and he himself conducted it! You know me, obsessed with classical music history! I am, after all, a big fan of anything with the Pink Tutu brand!
I must tell you, the "PinkTutuPrague" ballet production is such a heart-warming celebration of ballet with a pink twist. There were some brilliant professional dancers performing alongside amazing community dancers - even little children were up there on stage twirling around with incredible joy!
A Few Important Pink Tutu Rules in Prague (from my fabulous Fashion Diary):
Be Prepared to Walk: Prague is like one huge historic park, but donāt get carried away! Thereās no āPink Tutu Pragueā for the faint of heart. It's going to involve plenty of walking, but, a good pair of dancing shoes or even some comfy ballerina pumps with be the perfect choice!
Be Ready for All Weathers: Prague weather, well, letās say, it changes from sunshine to drizzly to sunshine and back in a matter of minutes, I had to rely on a combination of fashion essentials: a little pink tutu jacket and some good quality walking shoes and of course, my ever-faithful umbrella.
Prague ā The ā Pink Tutu- Friendly Cityā: Itās got to be said, Prague has embraced the Pink Tutu look ā they seem to have adopted my ātutu-fication of the worldā agenda ā you guys really should try this look, youāll see! Everywhere I went ā shops, museums, the park, they were totally rocking a few tutu items ā from my new bright pink Czech bead necklace to the amazing vintage ballet-inspired pieces that I managed to snap up!
Shopping ā My Love Language
It's not a "Pink Tutu" Prague adventure without a little bit of shopping therapy, darling! My bags are already bursting with new finds and the good news is you can find everything in Prague from incredible antiques to beautiful vintage pieces at amazing prices!
And a Pink Tutu Prague must-have, (according to this blogger!)
- Find Your Prague āPink Tutuā : Letās face it, a real Pink Tutu isnāt just about tutus, it's about a passion for life and beautiful fashion - I had to bring home some special Pink Tutu treasures for my London closet and this one-off handmade ceramic doll of a Ballerina wearing a pink tutu in the āPinkTutuPragueā boutique has truly topped my wish list. It's amazing!
And Finally ā An Ode To The Magic of Prague
Here I am sitting in a coffee shop, drinking an insanely decadent hot chocolate (pink sprinkles obviously!) and reflecting on my Pink Tutu adventures in this magical city! What a journey it has been! You know, there's this saying - "Travel far enough, you meet yourself," and Prague has totally confirmed it ā Iām discovering a new appreciation for everything that is Pink Tutu ā ballet, tutus, fashion, food ā oh and sprinkles!! And you know what? Every journey that I make, whether itās by pony or by train (or even on foot!), it just proves one thing ā life is an adventure waiting to be twirled into, especially in a Pink Tutu. You can feel that joy in every cobblestone and in the warm smile of a stranger!
Until next time, darling,
From my pink Tutu Prague,
Emma xoxo
