Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballet Dream Come True!

#PinkTutuPrague | Post Number: 521 | Wednesday 20th April 2005

Hello lovelies! This is Emma, your resident tutu enthusiast, writing to you live from the enchanting city of Prague. The train journey here was magical, gliding through the countryside with its rolling green hills and quaint villages. I do love travelling by train – you get to see so much more of the world from the windows than from a plane, don't you think? And of course, I had to wear my pinkest outfit for the journey. What else?!

And my first glimpse of Prague...oh my, it truly is a fairy tale city! With its ancient architecture, cobblestone streets and spires that seem to kiss the sky, it's as if it's been plucked from a fairytale book!

Speaking of fairytales...my primary purpose for coming to Prague, other than indulging in its delectable cakes (the pastries here are heavenly!) and exploring its magical, pink-hued alleyways, is for the ballet! I can't believe it took me so long to discover this amazing ballet company. I was completely spellbound! The dancers were as graceful as swans, as strong as the mighty Vltava river, and their costumes... divine! (My camera hasn't stopped clicking, you can expect a photo gallery post very soon, trust me!)

Today, we're talking Pink Tutu Prague because, well, my journey started in the heart of England, Derbyshire to be precise, and was fueled by the undeniable truth that life's too short to be anything but joyful! I love my life, I love ballet, and most of all, I love spreading the magic of tutus with everyone I meet.

So, the National Theatre, a majestic structure adorned in ornate decorations, became the setting for my dream. The National Theatre’s history goes back to 1883, with a tragic tale involving a great flood, a huge public fundraiser, a collection of 55,000 subscribers (how cool is that!) and the desire to see art for everyone.

The history of the National Theatre made it a must-visit, but my real goal was the show. This time, it was a stunning production of "Sleeping Beauty", one of my absolute favourite ballets! Oh, the beautiful costumes! So lavish! And those pointed shoes...they just make me swoon! I had to, of course, indulge in a tutu-tastic ensemble, all pink and swishy, and my ballet shoes sparkled under the bright lights of Prague.

I think you'd agree, the performance itself was absolutely breath-taking! The music was divine, the choreography mesmerizing, and the dancers - well, their grace and artistry just left me in awe! They moved so effortlessly, making it look so simple but, of course, I know the hard work that goes into each perfect pirouette.

But Prague is more than just ballet and delicious cake (although let's be real, the cake is a strong contender!). I had to stop by the "Pink Cafe Prague" just yesterday - oh, they even have pink tutu cocktails (what more could you want?!) Imagine - a delicious drink, pastel pink and oh so Instagrammable!

Shopping in Prague is just the perfect way to unwind between all that ballet action. There’s an incredible array of boutiques and shops filled with delightful finds, from beautiful antique shops to independent designer clothes. You know me, I found the perfect pink cashmere sweater - it practically jumped out at me and said, "Emma, you HAVE to have me!"

However, my pink obsession goes far beyond shopping, I mean, I am all about celebrating the vibrant power of femininity and what could be better than wearing a tutu and making the world a pinker, twirlier place?!

Fun Fact

Did you know that the tutu first became popular in the 1800s and, like the ballet it often accompanies, has gone through many evolutions over the years! It's no longer the frilly, voluminous look we used to know - I am quite fond of the sleek and simple look, the classic, minimalist form with the focus on clean lines.

But one thing that remains the same - the ultimate freedom and confidence it provides to anyone who chooses to wear it!

I must go, darlings, there are still so many things to discover in this fascinating city. Stay tuned for my next post - I promise to fill you in on more pink-tastic discoveries, the best bakery (hint, hint – try their vanilla cake) and share some amazing photos of my adventures!

Until next week,

Emma x

P.S. If you have any questions, need help planning a trip or want to share your own ballet-loving adventures with me, don’t hesitate to leave a comment! I love connecting with other ballet fans and sharing the pink tutu joy!
