#PinkTutuPrague Ballet in Prague 2005-10-12

Hello my lovely tutulettes! This Wednesday finds me in Prague, a city steeped in history, culture, and yes, you guessed it... an abundance of opportunities to twirl in my pink tutu! My journey began in my favourite Derbyshire village, the quaintness of which was always enough to inspire me before any trip. The sound of the church bell and the smell of freshly baked bread were a charming farewell before boarding the train.

Speaking of train journeys, oh the joy of a scenic train ride! The chug-chug of the wheels, the rolling countryside, the comfortable leather seats... a true haven for a pink tutu-wearing dreamer!

After a couple of delightful hours, I arrived in Prague, ready to take on the city in all its glory. This week's blog is all about the PinkTutuPrague Ballet production. A true testament to the power of dance!

Prague has always had a special place in my heart, especially for a tutu enthusiast like myself! For centuries, the city was known for its royal courts, lavish balls, and beautiful ladies adorned with the most exquisite gowns. One could only imagine the tutu craze that could have unfolded if this style of dance was as prevalent back then! I'm certain some royal family members could have pulled off a pretty smashing pink tutu! But we can dream...

For me, the most important reason for being here today is to celebrate the PinkTutuPrague Ballet, which is being showcased tonight! Oh my goodness! I'm already giddy! Imagine a ballet production inspired by the very same tutus you've seen me twirling in across my blogs! Now that's a magical experience in the making.

Tutu Trivia!

Just a little trivia tidbit, the modern tutu evolved from the early versions worn by dancers in the 19th century! Now, this wasn't the pink tutu as you and I know it. The early versions were much more complex with intricate embroidery and embellishments that took months to create! Talk about commitment to fashion! I admire their dedication, but give me the classic simplicity of my pink tutu any day! You simply can't beat a statement in pastel pink, especially with a playful dash of feathers for an added touch of flair!

The PinkTutuPrague production, was held at the beautiful Estates Theatre, an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Old Town Prague! The atmosphere was electric. The moment I stepped inside the theater, the anticipation and excitement in the air were almost tangible! A vibrant mix of local Czechs and tourists, all ready to experience the wonder of the ballet, surrounded me. The soft lights and delicate stage curtains added a touch of enchantment to the experience, leaving me spellbound from the moment I took my seat! The aroma of old books and ancient architecture mingled with a touch of perfume in the air, an elegant sensory treat indeed!

The first few moments of the performance felt like a dream! The graceful dancers glided across the stage in vibrant pink tutus that brought tears of joy to my eyes. You all know I'm a lover of pink, and this ballet company's signature look — vibrant pink tulle with feathered detailing, a true symbol of beauty, strength and delicate poise, truly hit the mark! The colors were so bright, the costumes were a beautiful mix of vintage design with a modern touch and the movement of each dancer was simply breathtaking! It truly was a spectacle for the eyes and a feast for the soul!

As the evening wore on, we were treated to a spectacular mix of classical ballet and contemporary moves. The energy and emotions flowing from each dancer were infectious! And those tutus! Oh my tutulettes! A kaleidoscope of colour on stage, swirling like petals in a gentle breeze. They seemed to dance with a life of their own! The ballerina in me couldn't help but want to join the action!

But ballet is more than just a stunning visual spectacle. The PinkTutuPrague performance went beyond just graceful movement; it told stories. Through the language of dance, they transported us to a world of magic, laughter, and profound emotion. My heart nearly burst with excitement! I always marvel at the universal language of dance!

After the show, I managed to get backstage for a chat with the ballet director. What a treat! I'm truly inspired by his dedication to telling stories and conveying emotions through dance, especially with a contemporary, fresh take on the classic ballet moves. He even confided that the pink tutus, a symbolic element for this performance, were all handcrafted! Such a beautiful, meticulous detail that added an even deeper dimension to the whole experience!

But it wasn't just the dancing that I adored. I must mention the orchestra! It was simply sublime! The music provided the perfect complement to the delicate, intricate steps.

After the ballet, it was time for a little indulgence! And of course, Prague was the perfect setting for a touch of shopping therapy! My mission for today: finding the most beautiful vintage inspired ballet accessories for my ever-growing collection!

First stop: a charming antique shop on a cobbled side street. The antique shop was packed to the rafters with exquisite pieces: from delicately crafted vintage brooches, which would be perfect to add a touch of vintage flair to my tutus, to beautiful velvet shoes and handmade purses!

Then, it was time to explore Prague's many antique boutiques. These were veritable treasure troves of exquisite lace fabrics and vintage beaded trinkets, remnants of the bygone eras! The streets were vibrant with tourists, locals, and a fascinating array of street performers. Prague truly has it all.

But one must always leave a little space for more experiences, for that perfect balance of fashion and the art of travelling. And for a ballerina, there's nothing quite like the magic of the city's ballet studios!

On this journey, I couldn't resist paying a visit to one of Prague's esteemed ballet schools. What an absolute delight it was to be surrounded by aspiring young dancers, all immersed in the world of ballet. I sat through a class, lost in a trance of grace and passion! They had such genuine love and joy for what they did, it was infectious! The enthusiasm and pure talent of those dancers left me inspired for weeks to come!

Now, the true challenge lay ahead: To channel that energy into finding that perfect tutu to compliment my trip to Prague. And what could be more inspiring for a ballerina than a beautiful shop bursting with exquisite pink tutus? I've been looking for a long time for a classic pink tutu that would be perfect for twirling through Prague's magical squares, streets, and bridges. The perfect mix of classic style and a touch of modern twist! I couldn't leave Prague without it!

My search for that one-of-a-kind tutu led me to a small shop nestled amidst charming cafes. And as I stepped into this charming boutique, I was greeted by an abundance of colourful fabric and intricate beading! The aroma of new silk was almost overwhelming, as it always is. And there she was - the perfect tutu, a classic ballerina silhouette, adorned with exquisite feather embellishments. This beautiful creation in a soft, shimmering shade of pink was like a piece of magic itself!

I slipped into it, spun around, and a burst of excitement overwhelmed me. The tutu flowed around me effortlessly, embracing every graceful twirl! My eyes widened with a joyous feeling. And of course, I couldn't resist taking a few snaps to document this special moment! I knew this pink tutu would take a special place in my wardrobe - ready to embrace many magical twirls around Prague and beyond!

As my journey in Prague comes to a close, I leave the city with a heart overflowing with joy and inspiration. From the breathtaking ballet performance, to the charming shops, and the inspiring spirit of the dancers at the local ballet school - it's been an unforgettable experience! The streets of Prague have witnessed countless stories, and I, as a pink tutu-wearing ballerina, was thrilled to contribute to the tapestry of this magnificent city's narrative!

But my journey doesn't stop here! I'll be taking the pink tutu back home, a reminder of this wonderful city. And as you know, my mission is to spread the pink tutu joy!
