Prague Calling! - Pink Tutu Travels (Post 551)

Hello, lovelies! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another exciting Pink Tutu Prague adventure! This week I've been waltzing through the cobbled streets of this enchanting city, feeling like a princess in my sparkly pink tutu. This place is pure magic!

A Trip on the Rails

As usual, I started my journey in style - on a train! Yes, you heard right. My travels often involve catching a steam train or a fancy express - it's so romantic! (It also helps keep my luggage safely out of the rain). My trusty carriage took me across the border from Derbyshire, a journey that made me think of all the ballets set in romantic countryside settings - like "Giselle," with its whispering trees and winding paths.

This week's train ride brought me through some incredible landscapes, which felt very similar to the enchanting "Swan Lake." It was almost as if I could hear the soft chirping of the birds as I imagined the lake scene, with Odette transformed into a beautiful swan. You really never know what inspiration you might find when you're travelling!

My Bohemian Pink Paradise

Upon arrival in Prague, I made my way to my enchanting boutique hotel, nestled in the heart of the old town. The building itself looked straight out of a fairy tale, all ivy-covered walls and twisting staircases. The staff were delightful - they even helped me find a charming antique mirror that matched my pink tutu perfectly! You have to know your style!

Later, after unpacking, I went exploring. This city is a treasure trove for a pink-loving tutu fanatic like myself! I stumbled across the most delightful vintage shop with rows upon rows of antique hats, jewellery, and lace - all just waiting for me to incorporate them into my tutu wardrobe! I also found a wonderful market where I found some lovely flowers - they reminded me of the delicate petals in "Sleeping Beauty." I’ll be having them sent back to England as gifts for my family.

Ballet in Prague

I found out that a fantastic ballet company is currently performing in Prague. A treat for this little ballerina! I spent the whole day studying the history of ballet in Prague. This city has such a rich tradition! The Bolshoi theatre has a phenomenal reputation and this month, their schedule has a show that I was just dying to see, it has been my dream to see "Don Quixote" on stage!

Tutu Tips for Travelling Ballerinas

Since I’m on the subject of Prague's ballet, I must share some tutu tips for travelling dancers (you know it’s coming, it’s why I blog - a pink-loving ballerina must spread her love and expertise):

Packing: Always pack your favourite tutu in a garment bag to ensure its safe travels. And, of course, don’t forget a delicate dress for a romantic evening out, and an extra-long pink scarf to keep warm. A hat (preferably one adorned with pink feathers) can also add some magic to a journey!

Performances: Arrive early to a performance - it allows you to settle in, enjoy the atmosphere and appreciate the theatre's design. It’s also good to keep in mind, that, most ballet companies allow children to watch performances too - an early love of the dance world! I plan to stay up after the show and see how the ballet company keeps their beautiful tutus and costumes - I’ll update you with any secrets I can gather in next week's blog!

Shopping: In Prague, I had the best time wandering through charming shops. My favourite? A quaint boutique where I found the perfect pink ballet slippers, a cute embroidered pink shawl and even a little velvet pouch that perfectly fits my favourite ballet books. The shop owner also told me about the secret back-streets that hide fabulous fabric shops and art galleries.

Pink Tutu Adventures in Prague

Now, onto some exciting events on 16th November 2005, here in magical Prague!

  • The enchanting ‘Pink Tutu Parade’ (it really is pink!) will be making its way through the streets, accompanied by traditional Czech music, giving everyone a chance to embrace their inner ballerina, and experience the joy of dancing through this historic city.
  • I am looking forward to visiting Prague's amazing museums, like the one dedicated to the history of the tutu!
  • If I have the energy, I'll attend a special tutu-themed workshop on "The art of crafting the perfect ballerina bun". My blog readers, don't worry, you will all have full updates about my favourite bits.

And don't forget, everyone, I want you to share your pink tutu dreams with me on www.pink-tutu.com! Tell me what you're working on, what your favourite tutus are, and, of course, what your plans for your next pink-tutu adventure are!

Stay sparkling, darlings, until next week!

Love,

Emma xx
