Prague Perfection: Pink Tutus and a City of Dreams - Post #561

Hello lovelies! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another exciting instalment of Pink Tutu Travels! This week, I'm whisking you away to the magical city of Prague. I’ve always dreamt of exploring its cobblestone streets, its stunning architecture, and its rich cultural heritage - and it has absolutely lived up to my every expectation!

It all started with a whirlwind train journey from Vienna. Now, I adore train journeys - especially on the continent! It's such a delightful way to see the countryside whizz by, and with a comfy seat, a good book, and maybe a cheeky glass of something sparkling, it's the perfect opportunity for a little introspective contemplation.

As I pulled into Prague's station, I was instantly transported into a fairy tale world. The station itself was stunning – its vaulted ceilings and intricate mosaic tiles made me feel like I'd stepped back in time. And as I emerged into the fresh Czech air, I was greeted by a cityscape that was simply breathtaking. Gothic spires pierced the sky, Baroque churches glowed in the sunlight, and bridges arched over the emerald Vltava River. Prague is a city of charm and whimsy, and it's no surprise that it's one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.

I decided to start my Prague adventure by exploring its Old Town Square. The atmosphere here is absolutely electrifying! It's a vibrant hub where musicians play, street performers entertain, and the scent of roasted nuts and Czech beer wafts through the air. But the real star of the show here is the incredible Astronomical Clock. Built in the 15th century, this elaborate clockwork wonder still tells time to this day, and every hour on the hour, it puts on a fascinating performance of moving figures, including the "walking Apostles."

As I made my way through the crowds, I felt a sense of utter joy. Everyone seemed so happy, so full of life, and I could feel my own spirit rising to the occasion! And then, I spotted it: a charming little pink boutique tucked away in a side street. It was a haven for all things fabulous! With an almost manic energy, I dashed inside and found myself surrounded by frocks, jewellery, and the most divine little purses you can imagine. Naturally, I had to treat myself to something sparkly, and left with a chic pink scarf to match my latest ballet outfit - a classic pink tutu, of course!

No trip to Prague would be complete without a visit to Prague Castle, one of the largest ancient castles in the world. Perched on a hilltop overlooking the city, this majestic complex boasts beautiful architecture, lush gardens, and a fascinating history that spans over a millennium. And what's a ballerina's favourite part of a castle, you ask? The ballrooms! Prague Castle boasts some of the most magnificent ballrooms in all of Europe. I can only imagine the swirling gowns and the intricate dances that would have graced those very halls!

A Ballet Ballet Day

Speaking of swirling gowns and intricate dances, I've got a very special treat for you today! A ballet performance. I had managed to find tickets for a performance of Swan Lake by the National Theatre Prague, and my oh my, it was absolutely stunning! The dancers were phenomenal, the costumes exquisite, and the music, Tchaikovsky's masterpiece, brought tears to my eyes. There was a special magic about being in that beautiful theatre, the old-world charm, and the feeling that I was truly in the heart of the ballet world.

During my intermissions, I snuck off to explore Prague's legendary underground. I've always been fascinated by the concept of the hidden world beneath our feet - it's so full of secrets, history, and mysterious beauty. I explored underground tunnels, eerie cellars, and even discovered an old theatre that had been hidden for years! The mystery and mystique of this underground world made it a real highlight of my trip.

Of course, no journey is complete without a little indulgence! I discovered a charming café near Charles Bridge. A quaint little place with the most incredible cherry cake and a warm atmosphere that was simply delightful. With a cup of herbal tea in hand, I gazed out at the panorama of Prague stretching before me. The bridge was alive with musicians and artists, each adding their own unique rhythm to the city's beautiful melody. The setting sun was casting a golden hue over the skyline, creating a picturesque scene that left me spellbound.

Now, before I finish this week's Pink Tutu Travels, I need to address a little pink tutu dilemma. While walking across Charles Bridge, I overheard a couple of ladies talking. Now, ladies, I’m sure you’ve heard this one before: "Pink is for little girls!” "What does it even mean to wear a pink tutu!" exclaimed one woman, shaking her head with a dismissive gesture.

It’s disheartening to hear this. But honestly, it just makes me want to make my pink tutu revolution even bigger! Pink is about joy! It’s about expression! It’s about taking a bold step and shaking things up! We need more pink! Wear that pink tutu! Twirl, prance, embrace your inner sparkle! Let's show the world that pink isn't just a colour – it’s a statement!

Onwards!

My dear lovelies, Prague is an incredible city that will forever hold a special place in my heart. With its rich culture, its breathtaking beauty, and its wonderfully welcoming people, I've discovered a place that feels like a second home. I’ve made some fabulous new friends, had some wonderful experiences, and left with a suitcase bursting with incredible pink-themed outfits and a whole new sense of purpose! I can't wait to share more of my adventures with you. Be sure to check in next Wednesday for more Pink Tutu Travels, straight from…wherever I find myself!

*Pink Tutus are more than just a dancewear garment, it's a lifestyle! *

Have a wonderful week and remember to live your dreams and embrace your pink!

XOXO, Emma
