Prague, darling! Pink Tutu Takes on the Czech Republic!
#582: Wednesday 21st June 2006
Good morning, my darlings! It's Emma here, reporting live from Prague, the city of a hundred spires (and apparently, one very happy ballerina!).
Let me tell you, getting here was half the fun. I hopped on a train from Vienna (more on that later, dears!) and spent the journey gazing out at the most charming countryside, fields of poppies and sunflower swaying gently in the sunshine. It was pure magic, like something out of a fairytale, and all I could think was "Imagine if I'd had my pink tutu on for this part!". (A thought I often have, especially in beautiful scenery like that).
When we arrived in Prague, my heart practically did a pirouette! This city is truly enchanting! Cobblestone streets winding through historic squares, beautiful bridges arching over the Vltava River, and towering cathedrals reaching towards the sky – it’s just exquisite. It felt like stepping back in time, and that always gives me inspiration, especially for my tutu designs!
You know, dear readers, this is the thing I adore about traveling; discovering new cultures, embracing different styles, and bringing back those influences to create something special. And oh my, Prague is a veritable cornucopia of fashion inspiration. I mean, the Czechs know how to do chic, with their playful patterns and vibrant colours! It’s just screaming "ballet costume", and I already feel a collection coming on...
Anyway, back to the fun! I am here to soak up the beauty, embrace the magic, and, of course, see a ballet performance.
Today, my lovely readers, was a true ballet extravaganza. The National Theatre presented an unforgettable production of "Giselle", one of the most celebrated romantic ballets of all time! The choreography was beautiful and haunting, and the story - oh, it tugged at my heartstrings! Seeing such passion and artistry poured out onto the stage really is what makes life so wonderfully worthwhile.
Prague by Day:
I must confess, my darling readers, the first thing I did after stepping off the train was find the most divine pink tutu shop in the centre of the old town. It was pure whimsy with all kinds of feather boas and diamante tiaras, perfect for completing any outfit.
This wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu blog post without mentioning the fabulous food. We had a delicious traditional Czech lunch at a cosy restaurant with wooden tables and stained-glass windows - I think I saw a giant plate of dumplings disappear in one sitting (mine were absolutely delicious, of course).
And of course, no visit to Prague is complete without exploring the Charles Bridge! The sun setting on this masterpiece, bathing the city in a soft glow was absolutely breathtaking. It was pure poetry in motion and the perfect inspiration for some impromptu pirouettes! (Okay, maybe a little pirouette here and there... but, don't worry, it wasn't too obvious!)
The Ballet & the After Party
I mean, there's no way I'm letting a night out with some of the local ballerinas (yes, I made some friends at the ballet, they loved my pink tutu!) slip away without a touch of excitement! I mean, you wouldn't believe the stunning Bohemian ballroom we discovered after the performance. We had a chance to mingle with Prague's most fashionable people and let loose on the dance floor with live music!
The entire evening was so delightful! But I confess, when the music ended, all I could think about was getting back to my hotel room to finally share all my fabulous finds from my pink tutu spree! I’m pretty sure my wardrobe is overflowing!
Stay tuned, my lovelies, for next week's blog when I share all my fabulous new tutu discoveries, from those darling little shops on the backstreets to those gorgeous antique pieces I found nestled within the heart of this wonderful city. And you wouldn't believe the outfits I put together – oh, it's a pink-tutu dream!
Until then, darling readers, be sure to share your thoughts, favourite pink tutus, and your experiences exploring the magical city of Prague with me in the comments below! And remember, don't be shy about following along with all my adventures on Pink Tutu’s social media - you know, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest… we are a big family.
Love and Tutu Kisses,
Emma

P.S. For those of you asking, I found the most adorable pony this morning on the way to the Charles Bridge and it almost got to be my travelling companion. The owner just refused to sell him! (It’s so sad!). He’d be a total trendsetter if he was wearing my pink tutu! And wouldn’t he look wonderful, pulling my chariot of shopping bags from all the boutiques on the journey back home? But it was his loss – and mine – we’d make a gorgeous pair!
P.P.S This little adventure just keeps on getting better. Tonight I'm going to catch the opening night of the famous opera “The Bartered Bride". (Isn't that just divine?). Maybe they'll have some fabulous outfits to inspire a few new tutu designs! I'm going to let my imagination run wild and soak it all up!
Until next time, darlings,
Emma.
