Post Number 590: Pink Tutu in Prague! 🩰💖
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday again, and you know what that means? Time for a brand new blog post from yours truly, Emma, your very own pink tutu-wearing travel buddy! This week I've whisked myself off to the beautiful, enchanting, and utterly magical city of Prague! And, just to be clear, this isn't just any trip; this is a pink tutu pilgrimage!
Tutu Travels
Remember how I was telling you all about how I've been funding my adventures by dancing? Well, guess what! A little while back, I was lucky enough to get a job performing with a fantastic troupe in beautiful Derbyshire (that's my home county, for you newbies!). We were doing a lovely tour around the British countryside, but guess what? This fabulous, magical opportunity allowed me to put aside some lovely little pennies which brought me here to the very heart of Europe!
Let me tell you, my journey here was utterly dreamy! A beautiful, sun-drenched journey by train – what more could a girl ask for? It's been lovely enjoying the rolling countryside (and admiring the scenery through the window, of course, with my pink tutu flowing majestically behind me!), but finally arriving in Prague, I couldn’t resist leaping onto a horse-drawn carriage and taking in the enchanting atmosphere. Now, I can’t promise I’ve taken on the local custom of wearing my tutu for all my sightseeing excursions just yet (even if it would have made a brilliant talking point!), but I’ve definitely made sure to include pink in every single one of my outfits – because, darling, you can never have too much pink!
Ballet Bliss
Prague, my darlings, is a truly breathtaking city, full of historical treasures, quirky cafes, and some of the most amazing architecture you’ve ever seen. There’s an absolute abundance of beautiful buildings here, all adorned with whimsical little details. It’s the perfect spot to take your inspiration from and find a muse for your own personal ballet routine, whether it be twirling gracefully beneath a stained-glass window or channeling the majestic spirit of a gargoyle! But beyond all of that, darling, my heart truly belongs in Prague because of its long, rich ballet history. Did you know, Prague has a magnificent tradition of ballet stretching back to the Renaissance, which has influenced everything from fashion to the architecture to the beautiful people (although that’s probably because of all the yummy Czech cuisine)!
Prague National Theatre - A Dream Come True!
Oh my heavens, this beautiful theatre truly blew me away. It’s absolutely magnificent, and so much of its décor has been inspired by traditional ballet costume styles. So, it goes without saying that this stunning venue is quite literally the perfect location for ballet. As soon as I arrived, I raced straight to the ticket office to secure tickets to a performance that was taking place on my arrival date - August 16th, specifically the incredible production of "The Sleeping Beauty"! It was just a dream, darling! The music, the costumes, the dancers - it truly was something I'll never forget! And as always, the entire audience seemed to understand that when it comes to the theatre, it’s always okay to embrace the dramatic - there were gasps of excitement when the fairies flitted onto the stage and awestruck silences whenever Aurora caught a rogue nap in her sleep! But that's not all!
Beyond the Stage
Of course, you can't visit Prague without taking a little walk through its historical streets, stopping to gaze up at the incredible architecture! Just to name a few highlights, darling, there's the majestic Charles Bridge, a sight you just have to see. And, just for your information, did you know that this bridge is said to be one of the most beautiful and historically important landmarks in all of Europe? (Of course, I may be slightly biased since it matches my love of beautiful buildings with a fabulous dash of my favorite colour...Pink! - Did you know that Prague’s Charles Bridge is full of pretty little statues which look fabulous in the setting sun?)
As I made my way past the majestic sights of the city, my heart really felt at home in this fabulous place - I was surrounded by history, artistry, and of course, that very special something I've been striving to find for so long… pink, in all its wonderful forms! Did I mention how much I’m loving Prague’s shops?! The window displays are magnificent! There's something about the unique style and character of the local fashion that makes my ballerina heart sing! (I’ve definitely picked up some fab new tutus from here - one with some particularly special rose detailing - because I do love a bit of whimsy in my style!), And I absolutely loved popping into all of those local boutiques in the heart of the city (who can resist browsing, darling? ).
And finally, darling, here's the big announcement! My new favourite hangout is a magical little bakery which just so happens to sell delicious pink-frosted cupcakes! How can any girl say no to something as delectable as that?! And so I find myself embracing all things Prague, whether it be their charming and quirky streets, or the fabulous displays in their window shops, or even that oh-so-delicious pink frosting!
Next Steps?
Oh my heavens! Prague truly is magical, darling! And the fact that I got to experience it with my tutu by my side just made the entire thing so much more magical. But before I go, let's make one thing clear! There’s something truly magical about the whole ballet world and all of the wonderful people that create it. (And it’s safe to say that this lovely trip just confirmed what I’ve known all along – it’s pretty magical and exciting to bring your love for dance to the world! And now I've got even more ideas to inspire new and exciting blog posts – watch out for those!)
But in the meantime, if you happen to be taking a trip to this magnificent place, darling, remember what Emma's first rule of travel is!
“Always have your tutu handy – even when you’re not on stage. You never know where you’ll find inspiration or meet a lovely fellow tutu fan!”
Have a lovely week, and stay fabulous!
Until next time,
Emma 🩰💖
