Pink Tutu Prague: Post 591

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, back from another fabulous adventure, this time with the most glorious of trips to the captivating city of Prague. You might have guessed, Prague stole a piece of my heart - a very pink, tulle-filled piece, naturally!

This week, I’m going to take you on a whirlwind journey, packed with ballet, tutus, and a healthy dose of shopping, naturally. We’ll explore Prague's charming streets, discover the secrets of its ballet history, and perhaps, just perhaps, even convince some locals to embrace the power of pink tutus. Now, don't think for a moment I’ve gone rogue and left my ballet routine behind. My darling, I haven't - this city pulsates with dance history and energy. Imagine waltzing with Mozart's melodies on the Charles Bridge! You can practically feel the rhythm flowing through the cobblestones. I found the most divine dance school, tucked away on a cobbled street, where I took a ballet class under the expert guidance of a rather wonderful gentleman. (Oh, to have that figure and elegance! He was a vision in black leotard!) My pointe shoes twirled on the polished wooden floor as we practiced a delicate sequence to a selection from Swan Lake, a classic we shall always cherish!

Prague has captured my heart and my sartorial spirit, just like the delightful boutiques lining the streets of the Old Town Square. The cobblestone pavements, the old houses with the terracotta roofs - you'd think it was designed specifically to highlight a perfect pink tutu, right? Let’s not forget, pink is a classic, darling! It can make any day magical. This week's blog post has just as much tulle and sparkles as a premiere at the Royal Opera House - so prepare yourself!

Oh, but before I dive into my adventures, let’s rewind the clock. This week marks the 23rd of August, 2006 - and guess what? It was a momentous day in the world of ballet. A grand performance of the Nutcracker at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, featuring a magnificent Tchaikovsky score. Ah, the power of ballet music. It's an entirely different language, and sometimes, that's the most powerful language of all! The music transported me, filled me with magic, and that’s the beauty of it. Ballet music is, in a word, breathtaking!

Now, let's dive into Prague's captivating world with the first stop at the National Theatre. We're talking a feast for the eyes with the beautiful neo-Renaissance architecture and ornate interiors, just dripping with culture and a hint of grandeur. And speaking of grandeur, Prague's history is almost as romantic and inspiring as a grand pas de deux. It was once home to a legendary dance hall known as the “Golden Bull,” oh, to have danced in that opulent venue with an equally dashing partner. The stories we could weave, the tales we could tell! Imagine, sparkling sequins under the dim, soft light, surrounded by an enchanting waltz, every spin and leap a dream realised. That was a dance venue truly worthy of a perfect pink tutu!

I decided that nothing would capture the magical atmosphere of Prague better than a little "pink tutu-ing". And yes, I know, I am on a mission, to spread the gospel of tutus, especially pink ones. The pink tutu is simply a symbol, a feeling, a powerful statement that says, “I am ready to dance through life with grace, elegance, and joy!" So, with the confidence that only a ballerina wearing a pink tutu can exude, I strutted down the Charles Bridge, basking in the admiring gazes of passing locals. There was this darling gentleman with a rather distinguished handlebar moustache who took off his hat, gave a delightful little bow, and declared it the most beautiful sight he'd seen! Oh, how I love charming people! And then there was this lady - so very fashionable with a perfectly coordinated scarf and dress - she even stopped and exclaimed, "It is magnifique, Mademoiselle!" She had the most delicious accent - all husky and French-like, just lovely! I must say, Prague embraced my tutu in the most delightful fashion. It wasn’t simply about the tutu, it was about the joy, the happiness it brought to people's eyes, their smiles. And trust me, my dearest readers, there is no joy more rewarding than knowing your passion brings a little light and wonder into the lives of others.

The shopping! The most heavenly indulgence, and you can bet I waltzed right in, with the utmost enthusiasm! There are a plethora of beautiful antique shops tucked away in the quaint, little side streets. Now, who could resist a vintage scarf or a bewitching little vintage necklace, right? (Let's be honest, these are just as fabulous as my tutu! ) And the markets! My goodness, what a symphony of smells and colours! Fresh, fragrant flowers and the most tempting pastries – oh, my tummy rejoiced! You might think this all sounds utterly frivolous, darling, but to me, exploring, indulging, and living a life full of beauty is everything! It's the essence of living!

Next, we visited the charming medieval Old Town Square, filled with life and bursting with vibrant colours, not dissimilar to the enchanting tutus on my recent purchase. Imagine a dance on the cobblestones under the watchful eyes of the iconic astronomical clock!

And speaking of tutus, let’s talk tutu history, because I am utterly fascinated by these iconic garments, their beauty, and their history. Imagine this, the tutu made its first appearance way back in the late 18th century. A short skirt, all airy and lightweight, it became a sensation, a game-changer for the dance world, offering unparalleled freedom and grace. And darling, who better to start the craze than a queen, right? Yes, the elegant Queen Marie Antoinette graced the world of ballet in one of these beautiful tutus! Talk about the height of fashion! It became synonymous with beauty, elegance, and refinement - a little piece of sartorial magic. In the 19th century, with a surge of innovation, tutus grew into a full-skirted version, the one you see at ballet performances, the traditional romantic tutu. A cloud of tulle, just the image of a ballerina as a floating, delicate butterfly, ready to take flight and dance their heart out.

Prague has been a magical journey! A symphony of beautiful sights, rich cultural experiences, and a delightful dash of ballet - perfect ingredients for the most spectacular pink tutu adventures! The only way to end this trip would be with a magnificent dance. As the golden sunlight sets over Prague, illuminating the spires of its iconic buildings, I twirl under the fading light, the wind whispering tales of elegance, grace, and dreams.

And that's the magic of Prague!

But don't worry, darling, this is not the last you'll see of this adventurous ballerina. Keep your eyes on my weekly posts here, on www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday. Until next time, keep your twirls elegant and your heart full of joy!

Love,

Emma
