Prague, My Darling! (Post #653)

Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind adventure in the utterly enchanting city of Prague. This week's post is extra special, because this isn't just your average sightseeing trip – oh no, my dears! This is a ballet pilgrimage.

Now, let me tell you, the train journey itself was an absolute dream. All those rolling green fields and picturesque villages whizzing past – you just can't beat a good old fashioned train journey, especially when you're clad in a vibrant fuchsia tulle tutu (it's my latest acquisition, bought specially for this trip!). The soft click-clack of the train wheels and the scent of jasmine wafting through the windows – sheer bliss!

Prague greeted me with open arms, literally, as I practically waltzed off the train into a charming cobblestone square bathed in the golden light of a setting sun. Honestly, this city is straight out of a fairy tale. With its spires soaring towards the heavens, its cobbled streets lined with ancient buildings and bustling markets, and the air thick with the scent of cinnamon and roasted nuts, I instantly fell in love!

Speaking of fairy tales, Prague is teeming with rich ballet history! It’s home to the legendary National Theatre, where I had to catch a performance. The building itself is stunning – I practically swooned when I saw it for the first time. Imagine a magnificent structure bathed in the soft glow of golden lights, with graceful figures in shimmering costumes taking centre stage. Honestly, I could watch these incredible dancers spin and leap forever!

Of course, no visit to Prague would be complete without exploring the charming old town. I am a sucker for anything pretty, and believe me, Prague delivers on that front! I spent hours wandering the cobblestone streets, browsing the charming shops and admiring the incredible architecture. From the towering Prague Castle to the elegant Charles Bridge, every corner I turned unveiled a new wonder.

One particular shop stole my heart – A Tute-full Life. The shop window was filled with rows of colourful tutus, and inside, the racks overflowed with every colour imaginable! From sparkling sequined beauties to dreamy pastel chiffons, I was in heaven! You can imagine, I had to indulge. I just had to take home a few more, and oh my, let me tell you, Prague has its fair share of fantastic ballet shops – just perfect for me to pick up the latest, en vogue tutu!

But, oh, how my dear diary, there’s something so alluring about Ballet on the Streets! Can you imagine? I was sitting in the most divine cafe sipping coffee with my friend Millie when suddenly – right in front of us, these talented young dancers performed a breathtaking ballet routine. The way their bodies moved, the way they held themselves - I was spellbound! It just shows, my darling, that you can find beauty and grace anywhere.

Now, on October 31st (Halloween, darling! A real spooky treat!), there’s something truly special happening – it’s the National Theatre's Halloween Ball! Can you imagine? All those gorgeous costumes, masks, the vibrant atmosphere. It's practically begging me to unleash my inner party animal, don my extra sparkly pink tutu, and dance the night away!

It truly doesn't get more enchanting than a dance under the starry sky of Prague. The rhythm of the music, the lights of the city shimmering across the river… it's almost magical. I even picked up some adorable little ballet bunny ears (a must for the Halloween festivities) at the market. Oh my, I feel my inner ballerina brimming with excitement!

Prague, my love, has woven its magic around my heart! The city, its vibrant culture, the beautiful people, the fascinating history – it’s all truly incredible. And, of course, who could forget the gorgeous fashion? Prague is simply bursting with delightful boutiques, charming markets and artistic vibes!

If you're a tutu-lover like me, Prague is a must-visit. You'll find incredible museums showcasing ballet history, beautiful dance schools and, of course, incredible shows that will leave you breathless.

Oh, and let's not forget about those heavenly Czech pastries, sweet goodness, you're going to want to gobble up every last morsel!

Don't forget to visit the lovely www.pink-tutu.com next Wednesday for more fabulous insights from my Parisian adventure. Until then, darlings, stay fabulous and always keep a sprinkle of pink tutu magic in your heart.

Yours always,

Emma
