Pink Tutu Prague: Whirlwind of Culture, Colour, and…Clogs? (Post #677)

Hello lovelies! Emma here, reporting live from the enchanting city of Prague, my latest conquest in the name of pink tutus and ballet adventures! I arrived here yesterday, having traded the rolling Derbyshire hills for a whirlwind journey aboard a comfy (and thankfully non-smelly) train. It’s amazing what you can find hidden away in the bowels of Europe! Prague has this medieval charm that's straight out of a fairytale, all cobbled streets, pointy towers, and fairytale architecture. But let's face it, the real beauty of this place is its cultural spirit, which practically screams out for a twirling pink tutu!

As always, my adventure began with a much-needed wardrobe update, because what's a tutu-tastic trip without a new tutu? My latest acquisition is a glorious masterpiece in fuchsia pink, shimmering with silver sequins and a smattering of sparkly butterflies (they are quite the rage amongst the tutus, darling!). The perfect attire for navigating the Bohemian beauty of this city, and even better for my evening outing!

Now, you see, 16th April holds a special place in the ballet calendar – International Dance Day. What better place to celebrate this global day of twirling than in the heart of Europe? Today, I’m off to see a performance by the National Theatre at the historic Estates Theatre. The grandeur of it all is quite the sight to behold – think velvet seats, ornate chandeliers, and a history of hosting legends like Mozart himself! This time around, I'll be experiencing the brilliance of The Bartered Bride, a Czech masterpiece full of charm, passion, and some absolutely breathtaking ballet choreography. Imagine, all this incredible dancing under a cloud of sparkling chandeliers! Truly, I'm ready to lose myself in the beauty of it all, pink tutu and all.

Of course, a little shopping is never off the itinerary, especially when I'm surrounded by shops selling beautifully crafted Bohemian glassware, hand-painted ceramics, and an array of vibrant, vintage finds! I’ve found some rather fascinating pieces for my burgeoning “Pink Tutu Prague” collection – a beautifully crafted wooden shoebox featuring a pair of painted ballet shoes and an ornate music box playing “The Nutcracker Suite”. Talk about whimsical!

Tomorrow, I'm off on an exciting quest to explore Prague’s "Little Quarter" - home to charming, cobblestone squares, quirky cafes, and maybe even a hidden atelier selling unique, one-of-a-kind ballet shoes. You never know what wonders you might find on a pink tutu pilgrimage, my darlings!

Now, you’ve probably gathered I’m absolutely smitten with the whole Bohemian vibe – the artsy, colourful, unconventional, almost rebellious attitude. In Prague, you feel like you’ve entered a living, breathing work of art, which is basically my kind of party. As for the locals – they are truly charming, my darlings. Every greeting, every conversation is punctuated with smiles and a sort of happy-go-lucky attitude. They seem to embody that joie de vivre that truly speaks to the dancer in me. I even caught one fellow trying to perform a waltz on his way to the bakery. Perhaps I could give him a few pointers...

You know, I must confess I haven't quite mastered the local dance scene just yet. Prague has a curious tradition of clog dancing! Imagine, these heavily wooden shoes, clacking out rhythms on cobblestones – it’s both amusing and challenging to watch! Don't get me wrong, the footwork is technically impressive, and it seems like a good way to stay grounded amongst all the whimsy of the place, but...I'm sticking to my ballet slippers, for now.

But that's the magic of travel, isn't it? It's all about stepping outside your comfort zone and embracing the unexpected. You never know where a pink tutu will take you – from enchanting Prague to the vibrant markets of Morocco, or maybe even a ballet class in Tuscany!

This weekend, I plan to continue my Bohemian adventure with a trip to the Old Town Square, where I've heard there's a clock tower that's famous for its hourly mechanical show – imagine! More on this tomorrow, but you can bet it'll be a sight to see!

Until next week, stay radiant, beautiful, and wear pink tutus proudly. After all, life is too short to be anything but dazzling!

Much love,

Emma

xx
