Prague Calling: Ballet, Blinders and Big, Pink Dreams! 🩰💕 (Post #693)

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger, reporting live from the magical city of Prague! 🇨🇿 I’m writing this from my adorable little Airbnb in Old Town, which I just know you’ll adore when I post a million pictures of it next week. Think velvet curtains, chandeliers, and enough pink accents to make your heart skip a beat.

Now, before I get into all the incredible ballet experiences I've had here so far (because you know it's all about the ballet, right? 🩰), let me tell you about how I got here!

The journey began, as always, with a twirl. This time it was on the platform of Derby Station, bidding farewell to my trusty little Fiat. No, no, I didn’t pack it into a tiny carriage, but I do love a good Fiat journey. A vintage, pale blue beauty, it always looks so fetching in my Insta-stories. Anyhow, my beloved Fiat had reached the end of the line, so I jumped aboard a grand, sleek train to the Continent. First class, of course, because darling, one has to travel in style! My fabulous pink tutu, as always, was packed safely in my designer travel bag.

Speaking of my tutu, let’s chat a little about it, shall we? It’s truly my spirit animal - bold, playful, and brimming with a dash of the unexpected. After all, when was the last time you saw a ballerina swanning around in a pink tutu? Now, let's talk about Prague. The city has taken my breath away! Cobblestone streets that lead to majestic castles, breathtaking architecture that’s so Insta-worthy, it’s ridiculous, and a palpable energy that just pulls you in.

Oh, and did I mention the shopping?! I could live in the charming boutiques lining the old town, swooning over bohemian trinkets, vintage lace, and handmade porcelain dolls. And don't even get me started on the Czech glass. It's so breathtakingly beautiful.

Speaking of beautiful, today, Wednesday 6th August 2008, the National Theatre Prague was playing Sleeping Beauty. Darling, the excitement levels were at a peak! Every dancer was exquisite - their movements graceful and effortless. I had the most enchanting time being transported to the enchanting world of Aurora and her handsome Prince!

Afterward, we had to grab some ice cream. This is where my inner princess comes out, for everyone knows gelato goes beautifully with ballet! We indulged in a generous portion of stracciatella, then strolled under the twinkling city lights.

Speaking of lights, remember when I said the architecture is breathtakingly beautiful? It really is! My heart flutters every time I catch a glimpse of the majestic Prague Castle! 👑 Every corner is begging to be photographed, every lamp post begging to be admired, every building screaming to be shared with you guys. But my love, the highlight of this whole Prague trip is The Black Light Theatre!! It's like stepping into a vibrant dreamscape where colours burst into life and magical illusions twist and turn. We saw the show Alice in Wonderland, which, you’ll never guess…involved dancing, tutus (of course), and a touch of surrealism. (Okay, it was really very surreal!)

Speaking of surrealism, have you heard of the Czech Surrealist painter, Jindřich Štyrský? 🎨 His use of bold colours and surreal imagery has me hooked. I just might add his work to my little collection of ballerinas. Oh, did I forget to mention I love ballerinas?! You know, the paintings and figurines, those kind of ballerina things, haha!

Oh my goodness! The whole Pink Tutu crew, including Miss Tutu, Pink Princess and Ballet Babe had a phenomenal time. Pink Tutu (as I lovingly call myself) is my favourite pink tutu which just happened to be a little bit faded in places and, by the end of the evening, it had a slight sheen, but a great pink sheen. If there is one thing I’ve learnt about tutus and travels…there are no hard and fast rules. If I feel fabulous wearing it, then the faded, the sheeny, or the sparkling, all have a place!

But wait, there’s more! I discovered the most incredible horse farm just a little way out of the city centre. How exciting?! They had all kinds of beautiful horses! Imagine the photos I've got of me, on the back of a sleek chestnut, in a glorious pink tutu. They don’t sell a full-length pink tutu for ponies (a missed market opportunity!) but you wouldn’t believe how lovely the pink ribbons looked with the gorgeous mane! My, oh my! I may have to pack a few more pink ribbons in the pink tutu travel bag for my next equestrian venture!

So darling, to say that this trip has been extraordinary would be an understatement. Every moment has been an explosion of colour, creativity, and cultural richness, all sprinkled with the magic of ballet. And you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way.

But enough of my ramblings, time for you to start dreaming of pink tutus and your next adventure!

Stay fabulous,

Emma xx
