Prague, Pink and Perfection: Post 696
Hello my lovelies!
It’s Wednesday again, which means it’s time for another installment of the Pink Tutu Prague Diaries! I’m writing to you from the heart of this magical city, where cobblestones and fairytale castles are as plentiful as the gorgeous pink frocks in the vintage boutiques!
This week has been all about ballet - what else, darling?! - and a rather fabulous performance that had me twirling my tutu in delight! Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?
A Train Ride To RememberMy journey to Prague this time was pure fairytale: I hopped on a train from my Derbyshire haven, and let me tell you, the English countryside was positively picturesque. Golden fields, emerald hills, and a glorious afternoon sun turning the clouds into blushing pink – perfect inspiration for my next tutu design!
Speaking of tutus, did you know that train travel and tutus have a fascinating connection? Tutus were invented in 1832, a time when trains were all the rage! It’s a happy coincidence for a girl like me who adores both – travelling in style and twirling with a perfect puff of tulle.
A Night at The OperaAnd twirl I did, darling, twirl I did! Because on Tuesday night I experienced one of the most breathtaking performances I’ve seen in ages: La Bohème at the National Theatre.
The National Theatre is one of those grand old ladies, with ornate interiors that make you feel like you've stepped back in time. And let me tell you, the performance itself was absolutely spellbinding! The soprano’s voice soared, the tenor’s voice melted my heart, and the dancing was exquisite! The set was like something out of a dream, and I almost found myself joining the chorus, I was so swept up in it all!
After the show, my friends and I sipped champagne under the Prague sky and discussed the nuances of the ballet. I have to confess I was totally engrossed, because honestly, there's something quite divine about seeing the grace and passion of dance. It makes me want to grab my own tutu and take a spin around the Charles Bridge!
Prague Ballet SecretsSpeaking of tutus and inspiration, Prague is bursting with the spirit of ballet! It's an exciting, dynamic city with an undeniable artistic pulse. I love getting lost in the old town, admiring the grand Baroque buildings and watching the locals. And oh, how they love their ballet! Did you know the National Theatre puts on around 350 performances a year? That’s one heck of a schedule, darlings!
On the subject of history and tutus – something that truly blows my mind is the incredible evolution of the tutu over the centuries. They’ve become icons of the ballet world, each era crafting its own distinct silhouette! From the long, Romantic tutus to the iconic, knee-length tutu favoured in the early 20th century – ballet fashion has always reflected the spirit of the times!
Shopping TherapyA trip to Prague wouldn’t be complete without a spot of retail therapy, would it? You can't leave the city without browsing the vintage boutiques nestled amongst the cobblestones! I snagged the most divine blush-pink cardigan, a pair of white, pearl-encrusted shoes, and a dazzling brooch that is just begging to be worn on a ballet-themed date!
Now, darling, you're not just going to dress yourself in pink tutus and let your hair down; you need the perfect setting, the perfect lighting, and the perfect attitude. The Czech Republic is known for its natural beauty - rolling hills, crystalline rivers, and breathtaking landscapes! What could be a more idyllic backdrop for a pink-tutu-wearing fashionista?
A Day at the RacesAfter my retail splurge, I felt a bit of a whirl, so I booked myself into a horse-drawn carriage ride around the Old Town Square. Honestly, darling, there’s something utterly magical about seeing the city unfold before you at a leisurely pace, all the while knowing your very own private pink tutu throne awaits!
This led me to the Prague Racecourse where a lively atmosphere awaited. My excitement levels skyrocketed! This time the horses, unlike myself, weren’t in pink, but they were gracefully galloping on a lovely autumnal day. The crowds cheered, the betting was fierce, and there was a feeling of excitement and exhilaration. Now, imagine the spectacle of an entire racecourse, dressed in shades of pink - wouldn’t that be a sight to behold?
A Dream in PragueMy week in Prague has been an absolute whirlwind. But don’t worry, my lovelies, I will be back next Wednesday with more stories, more insights, more fashion, and of course, more pink tutus! Until then, remember to always strive for a touch of sparkle in your lives, just like those magical moments when you wear a pink tutu!
I'm going to be spending the rest of the day exploring Prague’s charming cafes and browsing for more treasures. Who knows what kind of pink fashion delights I’ll unearth? Stay tuned, my dears!
Until next week, keep it chic and keep it pink!
Your ever-spinning ballerina, Emma
