Prague Diaries: Post 711 - A Tutuful Christmas Market Extravaganza!

Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com, where we embrace the sparkle of life, one twirl at a time. It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means - a brand new Prague diary post! I’m writing to you from the heart of Prague, where the festive cheer is bubbling over, and I’m in a full-blown, sparkly, Christmas-market frenzy!

You guys, Prague in December is just magical. It’s a fairytale, brought to life. The cobbled streets are glittering with lights, the air is filled with the aroma of cinnamon and roasted nuts, and everyone’s humming carols. It’s enough to make even the grumpiest Grinch (although let’s be honest, none of you would ever be a Grinch, you lovely lot!) crack a smile.

This Week’s Adventures:

So, what have I been up to in Prague? Let’s get right down to it!

Day 1: A Ballerina's Wonderland

My journey here was straight out of a classic fairytale! The train ride from Derbyshire (the scenery here is just so quintessentially British, you guys!), was so magical – the carriage had a vintage charm, and the rhythmic rumble of the wheels set my heart a-fluttering. As I sipped my chamomile tea and dreamt of graceful pirouettes, I could see fields covered in glistening frost and snowy villages whizzing past the windows. I couldn’t have asked for a more elegant way to arrive in Prague!

Speaking of elegant, I've also discovered a gorgeous vintage clothing store just a few steps away from my hotel. You know me, I’m always on the hunt for the perfect outfit for each occasion, and this store is overflowing with Parisian chic, from silk scarves to hats and even a glorious red-and-gold-trimmed evening gown. I almost went home with that dress, but decided to keep the adventure going! Who knows what fabulous discoveries I’ll make tomorrow?

Day 2: Dancing in the Old Town Square

This day began with an amazing class at the beautiful Prague Ballet Studio. The studio had a sense of history, a little like stepping into a forgotten fairytale. It felt as if every pirouette I made was infused with centuries of graceful movements, The class was a beautiful mix of challenging technique and invigorating, energising moves. After, I rewarded myself with the most exquisite little apple strudel and the sweetest little coffee, enjoying the ambiance of Prague’s Old Town Square.

Later in the day, the square was bustling with locals and tourists alike. I wandered through the stalls brimming with Czech crafts – handmade ceramics, embroidered blankets, wooden toys, and sparkling glass ornaments. Every stall held a little piece of local magic, and the smells coming from the street vendors were tantalizing. There were little gingerbread stalls with every imaginable gingerbread cookie shape imaginable – from little gingerbread angels to giant gingerbread houses – they were both beautiful and edible, tempting even me! But, you all know me - I'm all about indulging in beautiful treats. And nothing beats an afternoon spent exploring the local craft scene!

Day 3: Ballet in a Beautiful Theater

For tonight’s entertainment, I ventured into a little gem of a theatre that was tucked away off one of the beautiful narrow cobbled streets of Old Town. This theater was built in 1783, and it oozes old-world charm! You can practically smell the history wafting from the velvet-cushioned seats. It's a small, intimate theater, but it has a stage that boasts some impressive acoustics, as you would expect for a venue dating back centuries. It was an absolute treat!

The performance tonight featured the Ballet Prague company, The production was magical - it featured stunning sets and costumes, breathtaking choreography, and some utterly breathtaking leaps and turns. The dancers, a mix of veteran talent and bright, fresh faces, brought so much passion to the stage that I swear I felt every single note!

Day 4: More Than Just a Dress!

One of my biggest loves besides ballet is vintage clothing. It’s always fascinating to see how styles evolve throughout time. And this morning, I took the time to check out a lovely museum of Czech clothing and accessories from throughout history. There were beautiful gowns, intricate headpieces, and the most gorgeous brocades you've ever seen! There was so much beautiful craftsmanship and creativity - it reminded me of the importance of using fashion as a form of self-expression, both individually and in relation to history and trends. I was transported back in time! It was so lovely.

I'm currently sitting in one of Prague's lovely cafés, enjoying some hot chocolate and watching the world go by. And as I reflect on this journey, I have to say – Prague has been nothing short of breathtaking! It’s the perfect mix of fairytale magic and bustling modern city, where every street feels like a scene from a beautiful movie.

A Pink Tutu Must-Do:

You absolutely can't come to Prague and not visit the Christmas Markets. They’re a festive treat! You’ll find yourself immersed in a world of local crafts, culinary delights, and magical atmospheres, with decorations that’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped into a snowglobe. I’m seriously thinking about wearing my most glittery pink tutu to these markets. Imagine it – dancing under the glittering Christmas lights while sampling a traditional Czech beer (if I can find one that’s pink!) – I know, my fellow tutu enthusiasts, we have to be bold in our style choices. The world needs a splash of pink, wouldn’t you agree?

I promise to tell you more about the incredible shopping experience in Prague - including the spectacular shops, my outfit discoveries, and what exactly went down at the pink-themed stall in the Christmas market (yes, you read that correctly!). I will, of course, tell you about my ballerina experience in Prague - and why, when in Prague, a visit to a local ballet studio is a MUST. It was pure bliss!

That's all from me today, darlings. Stay tuned next week for more stories and snaps from Prague! And don’t forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday to stay up-to-date with my adventures! And remember, never stop dreaming, never stop twirling!

Until next time, keep your spirits bright, and always embrace your inner sparkle!

Emma xoxo
