Dearest tutu enthusiasts and fellow pink-loving souls,
Greetings from the charming, cobblestoned city of Prague! This week, I've taken my pink tulle train journey to the heart of Europe, leaving my Derbyshire village for a whirl through Czech history, beautiful architecture, and, of course, a ballet spectacle like no other!
As always, I made my journey by train. The journey, though a little longer than I'd expected (a slight mix-up with my carriage led to a delightful, albeit unexpected, chat with a delightful elderly gentleman who spoke no English, but whose warm smiles and excited hand gestures were a language all their own!), was absolutely charming. Watching the English countryside melt away, replaced by vast, open fields dotted with windmills and the promise of a new adventure, was an experience that made my heart flutter with the sheer joy of being alive, let alone a pink tutu-wearing traveller!
Arriving in Prague was a scene straight out of a fairytale! The old town square, with its stunning architecture, cobblestone streets, and quaint cafes was simply breathtaking. It's no wonder this city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The air buzzes with an exciting energy that just begged for me to embrace the local flavour. I even managed to snag a ride on a local pony-drawn carriage! It's amazing how such a traditional mode of transport feels so magical and charming in Prague.
But as any true ballet lover knows, a journey isn't complete without a visit to the grand ballet stage! My highlight of this trip has been, without a doubt, the incredible ballet performance I saw last night. I'm not one for spoilers, so I won't give you all the details! But suffice it to say, the artistry, the athleticism, and the emotion left me spellbound. The intricate footwork, the delicate gestures, the breathtaking jumps - all flawlessly executed against the backdrop of a stunningly ornate theatre. It truly was a ballet experience to remember!
However, it wasn't just the performance that stole my heart; the very building itself was an exquisite journey back in time! From the opulent grand staircase, where I felt a fleeting twirl in my pink tutu was in order (can you blame me? It just felt right!), to the intricate details of the auditorium itself, the entire venue was an enchanting homage to the golden era of theatre. You could just imagine the famous dancers of the past waltzing across this very stage, each movement an intricate masterpiece woven from history and passion.
Speaking of passion, I had a delicious bite to eat after the show at a charming little restaurant tucked away in one of the city's many alleyways. Prague is just oozing with charm. My pasta was divine, perfectly al dente and bursting with flavor. Oh, and the wine? Absolutely divine, I swear I felt a new layer of pinkness bloom in my cheeks with each sip!
This city is overflowing with vintage shops! There's just something magical about sifting through decades of history, discovering treasures hidden in dusty boxes. It’s a perfect opportunity to let your inner fashionista out! And let me tell you, I have never been happier about being a pink-tutu loving ballerina - I stumbled across the most divine, vintage pink tulle skirt today! I may just have to make a few slight modifications for a ballet class masterpiece. And let's be honest, a pink-tutu-clad ballet dancer wandering through Prague? What could be more stylish?
On Friday, I'm taking a trip out to see the beautiful Prague Castle! And with a whole afternoon to explore the vast gardens, I have my eye on a gorgeous, old-fashioned park for a delightful little outdoor tutu twirl. (Don't worry, it won't be an over-the-top production, I will make sure to stick to the quiet corners!) You know how much I adore history and architecture, and the castle just seems like it's begging for a dose of pink-tutu magic. Who knows, I might just even capture a photo or two for a sneak peek on our Instagram story.
