Pink Tutu Prague: Post 724 - A Whirlwind of Culture & Cotton Candy Clouds

Wednesday 11th March 2009

Hello lovelies! This week, I'm whisking you off to the magical city of Prague, where cobblestone streets lead to enchanting squares, and the air hums with the echo of centuries-old tales. You know how much I love discovering new places, and Prague has completely captured my heart - a heart already pretty much overflowing with the sheer joy of seeing the world through my trusty pink tutu.

As always, a journey wouldn't be complete without a little train adventure! I left my Derbyshire haven on Saturday morning, boarding the Eurostar to Brussels and feeling that delightful thrill of freedom as the train sped through the English countryside, past rolling fields and quaint villages. I had a particularly enchanting encounter on the journey – a kind, elderly gentleman sat opposite me, reading a book about the history of tutus. (Oh, he just had to have read that one, right?!) I managed to steal a few glimpses at the book and discovered all sorts of delightful tidbits about how the fluffy cloud of tulle evolved from practical underpinnings for early ballet dancers.

Tutus: An Everlasting Fashion Icon

Speaking of tutus, you just have to love their staying power! From the elaborate creations worn by ballerinas like Marie Taglioni (who famously wore a single, light tulle skirt – revolutionary back then!) to the modern-day iterations on the runway, the tutu has never lost its elegance and charm. And, if I do say so myself, my own pink tutu is making a pretty big splash in the Prague fashion scene, creating quite a stir as I saunter through the streets, drawing admiring glances from everyone! (Remember, girls, pink tutus are always fashionable. Always!)

But my time in Prague has been more than just about fashion – it’s been an immersive exploration of the city's vibrant culture, history and... chocolate! Did you know that Prague has over 200 historical cafes? You could literally have a different coffee and cake every single day and still have a selection for next week. The coffee here is incredible and the cakes? Just divine!

Pink Tutu in the Palace of Culture and Entertainment

On Monday, I indulged in a real cultural feast by attending a performance at the fabulous Palace of Culture and Entertainment. They're known for hosting a wide array of shows, concerts and cultural events, and this particular night was devoted to classical music. Oh my word! The atmosphere was simply electric – the kind of captivating energy that sends tingles down your spine! And my favourite bit? A symphony orchestra, composed entirely of women, delivered an astonishing performance. It was an orchestra of grace, power, and an ethereal sense of pure music, perfectly mirroring the beauty of the classical music they played.

After the performance, I wandered through the palace gardens, taking in the moonlight illuminating the intricate stonework and admiring the serene beauty of the park. I realised, even as I write these words, that Prague is like a fairytale come to life - full of enchanting architecture, bustling streets, and a magic that seeps into your bones and makes you feel utterly and wonderfully alive.

Pink Tutu Finds: A Shopper's Paradise

And then there are the shops! My goodness, Prague has shops brimming with unique treasures! From vintage fashion to charming antique stores, I haven't been able to resist indulging in a few souvenir finds. Imagine, a hand-painted teacup adorned with a delicate ballerina, a porcelain doll sporting the most divine tutu, and a beautifully embroidered fabric with delicate pink blossoms, perfect for creating a unique tutu-inspired creation!

Prague has become my ultimate fashion paradise - you just have to love how the city's eclectic style reflects in the clothing and accessories available. Today, I discovered a fabulous vintage store where I picked up the most gorgeous hat - a touch of old-world glamour with a soft, delicate pink feather that matches my tutu perfectly, of course! And let's not forget about my little pony adventure! The horse was a gentle soul, with a shiny coat the colour of sunshine, and a soft mane like spun silk. We trotted through the heart of Prague, exploring quaint cobblestone streets and vibrant market squares. The ride was simply exhilarating!

Sharing My Adventures with You

Oh, I'm just bursting with joy over how magical my Prague journey has been, and sharing every detail with you all adds to the magic! I'll be exploring the rest of Prague this week, maybe I’ll find a little cafe to write the next post!

See you next Wednesday for another installment of my Prague adventures on www.pink-tutu.com - and remember, girls, the only way to wear a pink tutu is with confidence!

Until then, twirl on, lovelies!

Love, Emma xxx
