Pink Tutu Prague: Post #755 - Where the Dance Magic Lives

Hello my lovely Tutu-licious readers! Emma here, straight from the heart of Prague, ready to share another whirlwind adventure with you!

This week's journey is all about those little pirouettes and the majestic leaps that draw me to this enchanting city. As you know, Prague has stolen my heart. It’s just such a pretty city and the ballet scene here is exquisite. This week’s adventure began with a train journey, chugging through countryside that felt like stepping into a fairy tale. I even had the opportunity to borrow a local’s pony, the very same that would often deliver bread around the cobblestone lanes. I rode him like a true ballerina, all grace and elegance, just before sunset.

I must admit, this post is bursting at the seams with excitement! I just adore the way Prague embraces ballet, it’s like a symphony of beauty, interwoven into every nook and cranny. From the enchanting historic buildings that are a ballet fan’s dream come true, to the mesmerising performances that ignite the spirit – this city truly knows how to treat its tutu-loving visitors!

This week was jam-packed with breathtaking performances, dazzling shopping sprees, and those heart-warming, feel-good moments that always fill me with so much joy.

But before we delve into my adventures, I thought you’d love to hear a little tidbit about tutus – this is post #755 and that number definitely sparks my fancy. So here’s something new to fuel your love of ballet history! Did you know that the traditional tutu evolved way back in the 1840s, thanks to a beautiful ballet called Giselle, which brought us the 'romantic' style tutu? It was so innovative and light and flowing, a far cry from the weighty layered designs of the past. The movement and grace of ballerinas could be expressed like never before!

And oh, that wonderful romantic tutu. Its ethereal look has a powerful history that weaves through the centuries. From the Romantic era, its form, the colour, the material, it's always fascinating. A real beauty in ballet history. I’d wear it in a heartbeat if I could find one. My pink tutu collection is already extensive, but I’m always on the lookout for vintage and rare finds.

My Ballet Itinerary:

The day I arrived, I had a chance to watch an absolutely stunning performance by the Prague Ballet. It was held in a glorious, historical theatre – it felt like dancing into another time. I can still picture that opulent theatre with its grand chandeliers, the stunning velvet seats, the whole ambiance just intoxicating. I was instantly transported back in time to those captivating bygone eras.

And of course, my favourite, the magical feeling of the spotlight shining down on those talented dancers. I got totally swept up in the storytelling. The graceful movements, the breathtaking leaps - every detail held me captive. They danced so beautifully, they weren't even really dancing – they were floating, flying! It truly was an emotional roller coaster, and it left me buzzing for days.

On the trail of Tutu Tales

After the ballet performance, it was time for shopping therapy. And what’s a ballet-loving soul to do when in Prague? Why, hunt down some tutu magic, of course! I couldn't resist the charm of the local vintage stores. It felt like a treasure hunt, and I unearthed a beautiful piece – a velvet ballerina shoe in a shade of dusky pink, perfectly complementing the dusty rose tutu that I had found in an old music shop the week before. What a treat! It was like my ballet outfit just got upgraded! The shoe looked vintage, from the 1920s maybe, with its lovely worn lace edging, and I had to add it to my ever-growing tutu collection!

Now, I wouldn’t be true to my "Pink Tutu" persona without a delightful afternoon spent at one of the finest fashion boutiques I discovered nestled in the heart of Prague. The boutique, it just oozed sophistication! A place where luxury and elegance met in the most charming of ways. I just knew I had to slip into their selection of blush pink evening wear. After all, it's hard to resist a perfect tulle outfit – it just speaks to a ballet soul, wouldn’t you agree?

Oh, and the best part – the shop even had pink tulle pumps – I swear, they just sang a tune to my ballerina heart! I am just in love with shoes in general.

The lady working there told me, "We don’t have many clients who wear ballet shoes for an everyday occasion, you know." Of course, they didn't - they are too much for these people to take. But me, I just wanted to waltz in those pink ballet shoes everywhere! So guess what? They are now officially part of my wardrobe. They match my blush pink tutu - I'm thinking I will wear them to the next ballet show I go to!

Dancing Dreams and City Charm

You know, this Prague experience has me thinking - it’s all about embracing our individual flair and passion, whether it’s wearing a pink tutu in the middle of the city, or chasing your wildest ballet dreams. I believe that our personal style is what makes us truly unique and gives us the confidence to follow our heart's desire.

For me, Prague has become a stage, an enchanting setting for pursuing my passion for ballet, and I believe it's the perfect inspiration for those of you out there seeking to express yourself creatively through the power of dance. So, let's spread the love of dance – and don't forget your tutu – we can all dance and celebrate in our own special way.

After all, there’s a little bit of ballerina in everyone! So next time you find yourself feeling empowered and wanting to dance through the world, why not just give it a go? Put on your most fabulous pink tutu and twirl! Life’s too short not to twirl!

Stay tuned for next week's Pink Tutu Prague adventure, when we’ll be dancing through Prague’s historical centre, discovering the hidden corners where magic and beauty intertwine – and we’ll also delve into the fascinating history of the Prague ballet scene.

Until next week, keep twirling!

Emma xx
