Pink Tutu Prague: Post #759 - A Whirlwind of Romance and Rosebud Delight!

Wednesday, 11th November 2009

Hello, darling tutus! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague, your weekly dose of fashion, frivolity and everything fabulously pink!

This week has been a whirl of romance and rosebud delight. Oh, the magic of Prague! I simply can’t get enough of this city’s charm, with its cobblestone streets, fairytale architecture and a flourish of history at every corner. This week, I’ve been swept up in a whirlwind of romantic encounters, fashion finds and the exquisite beauty of ballet!

You see, my dears, this week I’ve been blessed with not just one, but TWO delightful ballets! I kicked things off at the National Theatre on Sunday with the enchanting Giselle. Oh, the pathos! The drama! The exquisite choreography! Giselle’s tragic tale truly had me entranced, especially the captivating pas de deux – my heart was absolutely aflutter. I felt a little bit like Giselle, honestly, with a tinge of that lovelorn romance hanging in the air. Perhaps a handsome prince is on his way? I certainly hope so.

Now, you all know that I can never resist a trip to a good vintage boutique. So, of course, I had to visit the magnificent Malostranské náměstí. A treasure trove of the most divine vintage threads! I managed to snag the most exquisite pink silk scarf, the perfect shade to complement my new ballerina pink handbag. Just the ticket for this whimsical autumn weather!

The highlight of my week, however, was without a doubt Prague's International Ballet Festival. The performance I saw – The Nutcracker - was an absolute triumph. The whole production, from the sets to the costumes, was breathtakingly beautiful, but I particularly loved the adorable, candy-coloured decorations, it made me feel like a little girl in a fairyland. I must confess, I was totally enthralled by the beautiful dancing of the Snow Queen, and I left the theatre in a complete state of euphoria, twirling through the cobblestone streets like a princess from a fairy tale.

But the best thing about this whole journey has been getting to know this enchanting city. From the charming bridges, to the winding, romantic alleys, I feel like I've stepped right into a fairytale! I’ve also fallen head-over-heels for Czech cuisine. My tastebuds have been tantalized by traditional dumplings, the savoury, melt-in-your-mouth goulash, and even the heavenly sweetness of trdelník. It's an absolute must-try, darling tutus - just don't tell my ballerina trainer!

This week I've also indulged in a few little shopping excursions, finding the most delightful little boutiques in the heart of the Old Town. Imagine my delight when I stumbled across the most exquisite shop brimming with the most charming ballerina trinkets. Of course, I couldn’t leave without a dainty ballerina music box for my dressing table. I mean, how could I resist?!

Of course, I wouldn’t be true to myself if I didn’t share my love of ballet with the world, even beyond the stage! Today I had the opportunity to visit a local ballet school. What a treat! The children, little bundles of pink and tulle, were all so energetic and full of joy, they truly captured the magic of ballet, that perfect blend of grace and determination.

Prague, oh Prague, you've truly stolen my heart! From the twinkling fairylights illuminating the cobblestone streets to the harmonious hum of laughter echoing through the squares, every corner of this city exudes a vibrant, romantic charm. And I haven’t even mentioned the charming local cafes with their cosy nooks and warm, inviting smells, all begging you to spend hours nestled in a comfy armchair, reading and enjoying the ambiance, while sipping a fragrant latte or perhaps, just a cup of hot chocolate. Bliss!

As for me, my dears, I’m currently nestled in a luxurious little hotel, nestled in the heart of the Old Town. My room boasts a French balcony overlooking the charming Charles Bridge - the most perfect spot to observe Prague come alive as twilight falls and the city transforms into a twinkling canvas of romantic lights. Oh, the inspiration!

Now, my darlings, I must away! The city beckons, with a thousand adventures waiting just around the corner. Be sure to stay tuned for next week's blog where I reveal a truly extraordinary experience – a performance in the majestic Grand Hall at the Municipal House! A spectacle not to be missed!

Until then, stay stylish, stay pink and never forget the magic of ballet!

Much love, Emma xx
