Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballerina's Dream!

Post #766 | Wednesday 30th December 2009

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your resident tutu-loving fashionista, and I'm finally in Prague! It's like stepping out of a fairy tale, honestly.

As I'm sure you all know, travelling to magical cities like Prague is a huge passion of mine. I can't tell you how many miles I've covered on trains, boats, even horseback (well, once… a pony actually) in pursuit of breathtaking architecture, rich culture, and, of course, amazing ballet! And who funds my globetrotting? Why, me, of course! All thanks to my dedication to the art of ballet, I earn enough from performing and teaching to fuel my travels. You see, I truly believe that life is an adventure, and a pink tutu is the perfect costume for all occasions!

Now, before we dive into Prague, I have a confession to make. I couldn't resist stopping at a charming little shop on my journey from Vienna. I mean, can you blame me? The shop had "Little Ballerina" written all over it! They had a gorgeous selection of pink tutus, and of course, I couldn't resist bringing home a new piece. Think a delicate silk, soft as a cloud, in a dusky blush pink - absolute perfection!

Okay, back to Prague! It's everything I imagined it to be and more. Imagine cobblestone streets lined with charming cafes and vibrant, colourful shops overflowing with souvenirs. The air smells of delicious coffee and fresh pastries. Oh, and did I mention the breathtaking architecture? Towers, domes, arches… it's a feast for the eyes, a real architectural ballet, wouldn't you say?

A Pink Tutu on a Romantic Walk

My first day was dedicated to exploring. I couldn't wait to feel the charm of Prague seep into my very being, and so I decided to take a long, leisurely stroll through the city, with my new pink tutu, naturally, swirling around my legs. You wouldn't believe how many heads turned! Prague is truly the most romantic city, so, with my hair flowing freely and the soft fabric of my tutu dancing in the gentle breeze, I found myself in a delightful dream-like state.

Dancing with the Ghosts of Ballet History

But no trip to Prague would be complete without visiting the magnificent National Theatre. It's a place brimming with history and I couldn't wait to witness its majestic presence. This stunning edifice has played host to the greatest ballerinas and ballet companies in the world! To think I'd be following in the footsteps of the greats - Pavlova, Karsavina, Taglioni – it's simply exhilarating! The National Theatre is a masterpiece, with a breathtaking interior. I can just imagine the hush as the audience settles, and then, the glorious symphony starts, and the lights fade as the stage explodes with colour and emotion!

Pink Tutu on Stage!

Now, I'm not only a tutu enthusiast and travel blogger, but a ballet dancer at heart. So, needless to say, seeing a show was on my agenda. Tonight, it's a performance by the National Ballet Company, a chance to truly immerse myself in Czech culture through the art form that is my lifeblood! I'm planning on donning my very finest tutu and shimmering top, a touch of bling to accentuate the romanticism of Prague, wouldn't you agree?

The Pink Tutu Diaries - Part 2

Stay tuned for next Wednesday's blog, my lovelies. I’m going to fill you in on all the incredible moments from the show. I’m already making plans to catch up with some ballet-loving locals, as you can never have enough friends with a passion for this elegant art! I'll be showing them some Derbyshire "flair" with a little bit of pink tutu magic, of course.

But for now, darling, I need to dash - my little toes are tapping in anticipation for tonight's performance!

Until next Wednesday,

Stay gorgeous!

Emma xo
