Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet Bliss and Bohemian Charm (Blog Post #768)

Hello my darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another exciting instalment of my pink-tutu adventures! This week I'm writing to you from the magical city of Prague, a place where history whispers in the cobblestone streets and the very air hums with the romance of bygone eras.

Oh, how I love the buzz of travelling by train. It's like stepping into a storybook, with the gentle rhythmic clinking of the tracks and the changing landscapes that sweep past the window like a ballet of colour and light. I felt so incredibly glamorous this time, sporting my newest pink tutu - a vibrant fuchsia number that positively shimmered with the movement of the train. My pink, satin ballet shoes peeped out from underneath, ready for any impromptu pirouette.

Prague greeted me with open arms, and of course, I was determined to explore the city's captivating ballet scene. The Czech Republic has a long and illustrious ballet tradition, and I was absolutely buzzing with excitement to delve into its enchanting history and contemporary creations.

A Journey through Time and Tutus

My first stop was the beautiful National Theatre. The sheer scale of the building was breathtaking, with its neo-Renaissance architecture and stunning façade. I could practically feel the weight of history emanating from its very walls! Before stepping into the grand foyer, I decided to treat myself to a touch of vintage fashion. You see, one of my passions (apart from ballet and pink tutus of course) is vintage shopping, and Prague is a vintage heaven! After a gloriously frivolous afternoon at an antique market, I emerged with a sensational vintage coat in a delicious shade of lilac - it was perfect for completing my Prague look.

Now, a word about the National Theatre itself. Let's just say it was utterly divine! Imagine an opulent grand hall, plush velvet seats that looked as if they had been kissed by centuries of grace, and the delicate, anticipatory hush that descends before a performance...it's simply magical!

Ballet and Beyond: A Feast for the Senses

On this particular Wednesday, the National Theatre was presenting a classic masterpiece, "Swan Lake." The ballet itself was, as expected, absolutely breathtaking. Every pirouette and grand jeté was a masterpiece, the choreography both graceful and poignant. It felt like a conversation with the souls of the great ballerinas who had graced this very stage before me, a silent, magical exchange of passion and artistry.

And you know what else I loved about the National Theatre? It was a truly inclusive experience. They offered both a visual description and an audio-described version of the performance, allowing everyone to enjoy this grand spectacle, which was wonderful. It’s something we need to see much more of in the ballet world, and it’s something that has truly been embraced by Czech ballet, a fact that made me very proud!

After the ballet, my lovely friend Sarah and I (a fellow ballerina and tutu enthusiast - we’ve been inseparable since childhood!) enjoyed a decadent supper at a charming restaurant overlooking the Vltava River. The city was awash with a golden glow from the streetlamps, the distant sounds of music drifted across the water, and I knew then and there that this magical city would hold a special place in my heart.

Exploring Prague's Hidden Gems

Prague is a city full of secret treasures waiting to be discovered, a true haven for the wanderlust in me. I found myself strolling through charming alleyways lined with quaint shops bursting with unique treasures, cafes brimming with laughter and chatter, and stunning architecture around every corner.

You may wonder, how can I even begin to list my favourite spots in this truly magnificent city? I mean, you really have to see it for yourself to feel its magic. But, let me share just a few moments:

  • The Old Town Square is a breathtaking display of medieval beauty. The iconic Astronomical Clock, which tells time in so many fascinating ways, left me speechless! And the charming stalls that adorn the square during Christmas? Let's just say it's a haven for the girly-girl in me!

  • My journey across the Charles Bridge left me lost in its ancient magic. This historic bridge is an enchanting testament to time and tradition. Walking across its weathered stones, surrounded by colourful Baroque statues, felt like a scene from a fairytale.

  • Speaking of fairytales, I even managed to steal an hour for a leisurely horseback ride through the lush green countryside on the outskirts of Prague! It was like riding through a real-life painting, complete with sun-drenched meadows and whispering wind through the trees.

Oh, the pink tutu did cause quite a stir among the locals. They smiled and took photos with me - such a fun and uplifting experience, reminding me that fashion has the power to bring joy and laughter to everyone.

The Power of Pink Tutus

And you know what? This trip was a great reminder that pink tutus are truly a global language! Every time I wear mine, it sparks conversation and joy, breaking down barriers and uniting people through the universal power of beauty.

And believe me, everyone looks incredible in a pink tutu. Seriously! Think about it - the fabric dances as you move, capturing every nuance of movement and creating a symphony of colour. And who wouldn't want to feel like a magical princess, twirling under the spotlight of attention, with the wind catching the ruffles of a perfect pink tutu?

That's my goal, you know: to get everyone in the world wearing pink tutus, whether they’re taking ballet classes, attending a ballet performance, going to a special occasion or even just stepping out to grab a latte at the local cafe.

Imagine a world full of twirls, laughter, and the joyous energy of ballet! Now, that's a future I want to see.

Next Stop: A Pink-Tutu Filled Adventure Awaits!

So, stay tuned for next week's blog, when I'll be sharing more of my Prague adventures! I’ll be spilling the secrets of where to find the perfect ballet shoes and exploring hidden tutu treasures - you know I can’t resist a good shopping spree!

Until then, twirl on my darlings!

Love,

Emma xxx
